A quick sketch turned drawing practice of my fav bit from the Thrawn novel (which is not actually a scene in the novel, but I have free will and an art degree so I can do what I want). I wanted to draw something with a minimal color palette and lots of hatching to practice in Procreate, and this is the result.

thrawn not having an ass has got to be the funniest canon thing about him because no matter the medium, no matter the artist or art direction, his ass is ALWAYS flat. arguably the most consistent part of his design.

the one good thing about filoni probably not adapting anything from the canon books is that we'll never have a tv show butcher eli vanto's casting and character. like at least we have that morsel of peace. eli vanto is too brilliant of a character to be taken out of the obscurity of books and comics and exposed to this much potential mishandling and subsequent scrutiny
