McDonalds?
Juhee (aka JBABEE91) didn’t know what to make of it. At first, she thought it was hilarious and a little cheeky as she had been dating a lot recently and it was a welcomed and interesting twist. Although, she did still long for the picturesque backdrop of an extravagant restaurant where she would be wined, dined, and swept off her feet. Whose to say the same couldn’t happen at a McDonalds? Or maybe this was just their starting point, a unique ice-breaker, and they’d make the journey together to their real date. She was trying to stay optimistic.
However, Juhee had no idea what to wear to a Mcdonalds date. She had slipped her feet into heels and pulled them off and thrown on a pair of sneakers instead, only to toss them aside as well. Is this too casual, or not enough? The content of her wardrobe was strewn across her bed, and by the time she had decided on some nice tight jeans, ankle boots and a bustier from work with a jacket thrown over the top (too much, or not enough), it was five minutes past and her apartment was in ruins.
When she finally rocked up to the food court, she was fifteen minutes fashionably late.
Apprehensive yet excited, she walked their aforementioned meeting place, searching for her date. She noticed someone at the far end sitting alone and wearing a cap, it had to be him. BIG DADDY WON – or just Jaewon, so she had been told.
She allowed herself a second to breathe and adjusted her jacket in a way that allowed for a teasing glimpse of décolletage (with her current job, it wouldn’t work out anyway if he were conservative). Cooly, she walked over and stood before him. Her fingertips felt electrified with nerves so she held her hands behind her back.
“Are you Jaewon, by any chance?”
She’s late.
Five minutes. Understandable. He gives her the benefit of the doubt! His friends warned him about a girl’s tendency to arrive a bit later than planned. Something about seeming less eager. Less DESPERATE. Course, signing up for a dating website was anything but desperate ( note: sarcasm ). Ten minutes. Cue the nervous jitters times ten. He’s half and half now. Uncertainty lingers in the air, and he’s currently debating on whether or not he should up and leave. Grab a quick meal and go on his way. He decides against it, for like I said-- it’s half. Benefit of the doubt, right?
Yet, in comes fifteen minutes and he knows, just knows that he’s been stood up. Is he disappointed? Maybe just a TEENY-TINY bit. It’s a pride thing; a total guy thing. Would probably sound like a joke to his friends. Friends. He should really consider dropping them. Teach them a thing or two about the consequences of signing your friend up for a dating-- pause.
There’s a shadow looming over his table. Tall ( or maybe he’s just short ), slim, female. He raises his head up, surprise evident on his features. And not because she beat the odds and actually showed up. No, no, no, it’s because he got an eyeful of CLEAVAGE and now his cheeks are burning up. He coughs, once or twice, fist raising in a feeble attempt on covering his mouth.
“That’s me.” His tone is nonchalant, void of cracks, quick to dismiss the coloring of his cheeks that has yet to fade. Point for Jaewon! He’s smiling now, but it resembles more of a smirk than anything else. Force of habit, if you will. He reaches out a hand then, smile never deterring, eyes oozing friendliness, and he’s acting way too FORMAL for a McDonalds date.
“And you must be Juhee. Photos don’t do you justice. You’re much prettier in person.” Date tip #1: compliment them in the cheesiest way possible. Check! Cringe while doing so? Also, check! “I hope it wasn’t too hard to find this place.” Cue his discreet way of asking why she was late.

she was about to be in her last year of high school in a few months, and yet she was stuck doing stupid projects like this. a huff of frustration left her lips as she tried her best to color the stupid foam sphere red. who decided that mars was red anyway? why couldn’t it be a more pretty color like pink or purple? not that she really had anything against red - she wouldn’t have dyed her hair that color if she did - but she was just really annoyed by this stupid project. at her age, who did not know the solar system? if someone in her grade didn’t know it, then they were simply stupid.
her ears perk at the sound of a familiar voice, and she can’t help but let out a sigh of relief upon seeing who it is by the door. “great, you’re here! not exactly the person i was looking for, but you shall do.” and without explaining herself, she walked over to the entrance where jaewon stood and pulled him into the store, pushing him behind the counter.
“you know what the solar system looks like, right? that’s great! here, start painting!” she handed him a brush as well as a bunch of different sized foam spheres and forced him to sit down on the newspapers that she had set out behind the counter.
and that’s the story of how jung jaewon, the skyline security guard, ended up sitting on the floor of wooof by betters, painting the solar system. “i hope you know that mars isn’t blue.”
High school: a rollercoaster full of surprises, shifts and turns, upside down loops and a seemingly endless track that only goes forward without waiting for you to catch up. It’s the transitioning period from our youthful teens to mature adults. And maybe that’s why he has yet to reach his full POTENTIAL--maturity and all that.
The guy never graduated. ( HA! )
His mind is running all over the place, searching and scanning through his jumbled memories of science class, trying to bring a face to the teacher he saw ( if they were lucky ) once every two weeks. It’s brief, pretty much NONEXISTENT, but he does remember something, a certain number ( or was it letter? ) involving the solar system. Bolded in red, marked at the top of his page where his name stood, the only blank he managed to fill out before taking a nap and ah yes, now he remembers: he got a BIG FAT ‘F’ on his solar system test.
“It’s... not?” He asks with confusion, eyes wide and practically bulging out from his sockets, quick to dispose of the blue paint in favor of a green. His attention diverts back to Yerim, a moment of SILENCE passing between the two, where the unspoken question of is this it? lingers in the air. “Don’t you have like, a color coded cheat sheet or something? It’s uh, been a while and science wasn’t exactly my forte back in the day.” Lunch was ( and will forever be ) his favorite class.

to: @skyseulgi from: christmas meme
it’s not every day that you run into a full grown adult who believes that santa still exists. you would assume that by the age of twelve, most kids would have been told that santa doesn’t exist or they’d figure it out by themselves when mom and dad aren’t too slick about putting presents under the tree. but seulgi isn’t too entirely sure how to grasp the fact that jaewon believed santa was real. he had gone on about how he made special cookies just for santa this year and how he almost burnt a good batch. did she want to be the bad person and break it to him? or did she want to sugar coat everything and let him keep that small grasp of innocence he still had?
but before she could say anything, there’s a little boy beside them who speaks up.
“mister, you still believe in santa? don’t you know he’s not real? he’s just a fiction!” the bewildered look on jaewon’s face almost sends seulgi into a fit of sympathetic laughter, but she holds back and pulls jaewon away before he starts an argument with the little boy.
“he’s lying, santa’s real and that brat just wants all the presents for himself.” she only gives him a pat on the head before sitting him down on the nearest bench.
“uh, jaewon. i think it’s time you should know that…santa’s not real. i mean, don’t you ever wonder why no one puts presents under your trees at night?” his mouth opens and closes, trying to come up with some kind of argument. but it’s obvious that seulgi gets him thinking and there’s a crushed look on his face before he lets out a broken “santa’s not real?” she feels bad, but it’s about time he knows.
“sorry to break it to you buddy, but he was never real. but please don’t cry, i’ll buy you food and you can spend the day moping or play with the little hamsters, yeah?”
Who is your role model, Jaewon-ah?
See, it’s a common question amongst kids. Encouraged by the feigned smiles of their classroom teachers, who more or less, HATE their guts, but have to play nice anyway in favor of getting a big fat paycheck. They don’t really care, and if they do, it’s because they’re beginners in terms of teaching. For by the end of the year, they’d be wallowing in SELF-REGRET for wasting their time and money in getting a teaching degree. But now we’re getting off topic. Role models. Most kids would list off their parents. Bragging about their occupations and failing miserably because the word was too big and much too difficult to pronounce. Or even their teacher. SUCK-UPS! That’s what those kids were. No one wanted to be a lousy teacher. They wanted adventures, endless batches of cookies and milk, working hard one day only and then resting for the entire year until Christmas comes rolling around the corner.
Santa Claus is my role model!
It’s a phase. He’s just a kid; he’ll grow out of it. Or so they believed. Teachers would laugh it off, and his classmates would even agree with him. Changing their answer because Jaewon was always a TREND-SETTER and anything he says goes. But then he grow older. Older as in he reached high school and to him, Santa was still a thing. Blame his parents! Poor things didn’t want to crush his dreams. His hopes and aspirations of getting a degree in riding a sleigh full of MAGIC.
Next, he’s heading into his rebellion phase. And no one, not even Santa can drag him back into the good side. It makes for a good cover story at least! He’s permanently on the NAUGHTY list. You know Santa, he only delivers to the good boys and girls. He’s got no time to waste on kids ( read: seventeen year olds ) who break the law.
Does that stop him from believing?  ( You wish! ) That is, until today. ( Can you say YIKES? )
“You’re... you’re kidding me, right?” His eyes are wide, and maybe even a little bit teary, as he’s staring in pure disbelief at the girl who basically crushed his dreams. Mouth open and closing like a gaping fish, his first instinct is DENIAL. Shaking his head furiously with a childish slam of his fists. “I don’t want any food. I want you to admit that you’re a liar! Santa’s real! I-I even saw him! He’s here right now. Asking what everyone wants for Christmas!”

❬ just for kicks ❭
@skyjeongguk
Here lies the tale of his old kicks, adidas Superstar: the two first met when he was at the peak of his REBELLION stage. The stage where anything goes, and everything is worth grabbing. He was seventeen at the time, sporting a pair of old chucks that had his toes peeking out. Out of consideration for his chilly toes ( and the fact that it was winter of all seasons ), he decided on getting himself a new pair of shoes. Legally? Of course not. But back then, he was all about the risk-taking and acting against the law. Thus, his little shopping spree ensues. Along the way, he managed to snatch himself an oversized sweatshirt, a fresh new pair of jeans, and socks to provide extra protection against the frigid temperature. You’d think he’d feel entirely guilty about the whole ordeal. Yet years of wearing stolen goods turned him heartless. HEARTLESS as in the guilt did everything but eat him alive. If anything, it made him feel good. Over the top of the world. It boosted his pride and gave him the recognition he deserved. But then spring comes along, and his new kicks become old. Stained with a mixture of dirt and mud. One too many trips into a puddle, and his toes aren’t peeking out anymore, but as embarrassing as it sounds, they’re starting to stink and that’s more than enough of a reason for him to find himself a new pair of shoes.
Legally? Of course!
Jaewon doesn’t shop around the mall much. Or at all. He deems it awkward. Coming in as a worker and then a shopper the following day. On most occasions, he opts for an entirely different mall. One where he knows less people and the chances of him getting lost were extremely HIGH. But gas money is a bitch, and shoes cost enough as it is, so he’s stuck at Skyline. Needless to say, he feels a little out of place. And NOT because one of the employees is eyeing him down like a hawk. Or maybe that was the case. Anyway, he’s up near the front. Taking extra care and consideration into picking himself out a fresh new pair of shoes.
Shall he continue the saga of his adidas Superstar or trash that story altogether? He’d ask the employee at hand, but like he said before, the guy is giving him this look that just screams ‘I’M GONNA KILL YOU’ and Jaewon would like to keep his head, thank you very much.
He ends up picking up the same shoe as last time.

He’s not entirely sure what upsets him most. The fact that his friends set him up for an online dating website? Or the fact they used BIG DADDY WON as his username? No, no, no. It’s definitely the first one. Without it, the second would cease to exist! And he wouldn’t be stuck in this situation in the first place. For the first time in years, Jung Jaewon is going on a date. Willingly? Absolutely not. But the date had already been set, and in spite of his reluctance, he’s not that much of an asshole to ditch last minute. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean this was going to be the most PERFECT date in the entire world.
For that consists of a dozen roses. Plus! Dinner at a high-class restaurant with a bill higher than G-Dragon’s net worth. To protect his wallet, he opts for a more casual setting. Casual as in cheaper. Cheaper as in McDonalds. McDonalds as in Skyline Mall. You see where this is going?
The first thing he does once stepping into the food court is adjust his pants. Force of habit, if you will. He feels naked. EXPOSED. Like he doesn’t belong. He supposes the uniform does that to you. It’s the first time he’s ever ventured inside without his usual get-up. One minute he’s walking around as if he’s the TOP DOG, and the next he’s resembling some awkward teenager who is 99% a virgin. Yup, he’s definitely living up to that awkward teenager stereotype. The poor guy is stumbling about. Bumping into chairs, people, trash cans, you name it!
Finally, he manages to situate himself at a table near the back. He’s a little earlier than planned, and he takes those few moments to pump himself up. Get rid of the nervous jitters. Clears his throat once, twice, three times to make sure his voice doesn’t CRACK like a guy going through puberty. Adjusts the collar of his shirt. Raises his cap a little higher so he could actually see ( though, he probably should of done that before he ran into everything ). Jaewon debates on whether he should text her or not. Figure out where she’s at. How long she’d be. But that’d make him seem desperate. Not to mention IMPATIENT. So he waits. And waits and waits.

Thing is, he’s the last person you should turn to for homework help. Scratch that. You shouldn’t rely on him at all! Especially when it comes to huge projects such as creating the entire solar system from scratch. Artistically wise, he could create some BOMB ASS planets out of styrofoam balls. Accuracy wise? Mars is blue, and Neptune comes after Venus. Now see, there’s a reason science was never his strong suit. Or mathematics. And maybe also gym. He’s great at spray painting though! His art teacher would be PROUD of the artwork he puts on walls. ( NOT the museum kind. )
He wonders if it’s not too late to turn back. She hasn’t spotted him yet. He could make a run for it. Albeit, his SCRAWNY ass could only go so far. Or maybe he could tell a little teeny-tiny fib. Something came up! A forgotten trip to the dentist. Boss needs him to keep watch on the first floor. Mom called, she stepped on a crack and broke her poor ol’ back. But then she’s turning around, and one look into her worn out eyes has him SQUASHING away all his good-for-nothing excuses. He can’t help it! Jaewon’s always been the sympathetic type. Always caring for others and putting them before himself. And so when he walks into that store, he momentarily forgets about the fact that he scored four out of one hundred points on his science final.
