Just had a puritan bring up my age over a oneshot I wrote. Here's the kicker. They ship Leosagi. Usagi is canonically an adult. What kind of virtue signaling is this?

Plus it's literally stated that Leo was 21+ in the oneshot

I absolutely agree... of course to each their own, but if someone is trying to pretend to be morally superior (tip: don't) then this isn't their hill to die on. In the TMNT fandom, most of the non-turtle characters are adults so that's something to keep in mind unless the writer states different ages, etc.

Fair point. Rise turtles were allowed to have much more of a childhood than 2k3 or 2012 turtles who had a strict training regime. So any advantages they were developed with has to be compared in contrast with the training the others had.

Truthfully, sometimes I hate the whole “intentionally mutated vs accidentally mutated” thing between the rise turtles and the other turtles. In part because I don’t think it’s a great way to compare the two types of turtles. It feels like it discredits the accidentally mutated turtles’ strengths in regards to skill and form. Making them somehow lesser fighters or threats.

I would argue a better comparison would be natural talent vs. hard learned skills.

Take the “accidentally mutated” 2012 Raph for example. While he might not be able to make the projections Rise Raph can, he stills have an astounding amount of brute strength that has been honed by years of training under a skilled master. Which allows his to fight opponents that are double his size like so:

I just feel Raph is an important character not just because he’s complex or relatable. Characters like this are usually put in villain or antagonistic roles. As a kid growing up with emotional dysregulation I felt seen. He feels things so strongly that sometimes if he’s feeling something for once that is mild it confuses him. I love him so much and why is so hard to put in words. He’s just so important to me as someone who too struggles their own big emotions.

I am just glad more and more people are seeing how complex he is and that he is more than just the angry one.

I was trying to make headcanon designs of the 87 turtles and I realised that making 87 Leo have purple eyes with the red sky arc artstyle was a bad idea

Ah I bet he looked a bit evil, lol

From what I can tell, non-2012 Leonardo is usually hazelnut brown or-- my personal favorite-- steel blue. 💙

2012 got some things right and giving those turtles pretty eyes was definitely one of them!
