the final scene of season 1 of derry girls (the girls dancing onstage at the talent show while the adults watch the news of another IRA bombing at home while dreams by the cranberries plays in the background) makes me so emotional

Derry girls reminds me so much of that diary entry that was like “brad wouldn’t talk to me at lunch today ugh! Man landed on moon”

god. it’s just. it’s dreams by the cranberries. it’s the montage of them all voting yes. it’s orla’s little smiley face in the box. it’s the live footage of the troubles. it’s erin’s speech. it’s the way that the last shot is of grandpa joe and anna jumping together out of the voting hall. it’s the sheer symbolism of youth and age being joyful and hopeful together. god.

Derry Girls really said that life is not a linier series of events and the worst parts of your life can and will co-exist with the best parts and there is no telling if and when those will be. So you just have to try and make the best of every situation as it comes to you.
