I get why DC and fandom enjoys the unhinged megalomaniac hero especially if it's someone with no powers but I can't take it seriously when the comics try and do plots with Bruce and Damian about it or when fanon does it with Tim. Mostly because Barbara Gordon was pulling off the most insane shit for years as Oracle like aww Batman has contingencies to take heroes down? Damian can beat all the Titans because he's so ruthless? Tim stalks everyone and makes lists? That's so cute, good for them. They don't have cameras in everyone's houses allies and enemies alike, chips in the brains of villains they control remotely, and giant lazer satellites they hacked/stole from the US government so they can blast anyone anywhere at anytime and turn them to ash. But I understand why the heroes get mad at Batman for stuff like his evil spy robots because unlike Oracle when he does extremely unethical shit to his allies in order to be the ultimate control freak, it backfires on him every time. He's simply not competent enough at this megalomaniac control freak thing it's sad 😔 Maybe leave the patriot act level violations of privacy to the actual morally grey geniuses who can start and end world wars in under 24 hours without major backlash. There's no shame in it we all have our talents, and some characters should simply stick to throwing batarangs at clowns.
