Charlotte moaned loudly the more Cooper moved. There was something different about him tonight. Charlotte felt an orgasm building and was shocked that it was happening so quickly. Cooper was good but not that good.

She was in her own world when Christian asked her if she would be okay it took her a minute to respond. Pulling herself out of her funk. “Yeah.” She nodded. Shaking her head. “No, just go.” She looked over at him for a moment. She just wanted him to leave and go get the test.

Christian nodded and dropped another kiss on top of her head.  He wanted to say something reassuring.  Something profound, but he had no words in that moment.  Victoria was hurting in a way he couldn’t understand, and there was nothing he could do to ease her pain.  Christian reached and squeezed her shoulder before grabbing his keys and heading out of the house.  

He drove up the block to the nearest drug store and headed inside, his hands in the pockets of his jacket.  He had always wanted a family.  He thought he would be a good father, but he didn’t know where Victoria’s head was.  Not really.  Would she even want to go through parenthood again after all she had lost?  He couldn’t think about that right now though. 

Christian grabbed three boxes of the most expensive pregnancy tests.  He knew nothing about them, so expensive had to mean they were the best.  He didn’t want anything left up to chance for himself or for Victoria.  They needed to know what they were facing and what their future would look like.  He quickly checked out and headed back home, letting himself into the house.  Christian hung up his keys and returned to the living room, finding Victoria in the same spot he had left her.  “I’m back.”

“Oh please! I’m involved so it’ll be fun.” A grin crossed her face as she started dancing more to the music. Looking at the other to see if she was enjoying herself or not. Gianna had always been that person to check in on her friends.

Lola leaned her head back and let out a chuckle when Gianna insisted that the activities would have to be fun because she was involved.  It was a fair point.  Gianna was one of the first people in Boston that Lola had learned to have fun with.  It was easy to be comfortable with the other woman and not think so much.  Lola stepped out onto the dance floor with her friend and began to dance.

“Definitely enjoying the fresh air.” The air was so different in Florida compared to Seattle. Josh had spent some time outside today and was looking a little darker than normal. Thankfully he didn’t get any sunburn. “I missed you, too.” He smirked, hugging her back. “Okay, how did it go?”

Lexie smiled and nuzzled against his cheek.  She was so glad to be back in his arms.  She had only been gone a few nights, but she had missed him.  They seemed to have been running in opposite directions lately, but hopefully, once their boards were out of the way, that was going to stop.  “It went well.  They were trying hard to court me.  They had a peanut butter cup basket waiting in my hotel room when I arrive, so that was a nice touch,” she laughed before kissing his cheek.  “But I told them my heart longed to Seattle.”

Victoria hadn’t planned on dating anyone for a long time. She needed a break for herself to just have some flings and just have fun. Most people would be angry but he understood her. Wiping her eyes she looked at him.

“Okay.” She nodded. “No, no food. I can’t right now.” Victoria felt like she was going to be sick at any moment. She wasn’t sure if that was nerves talking or what the deal was. There was no way she was already having morning sickness then again she had it early with Morgan. “I don’t know.” She shook her head at him. He was right though they could make it through this.

Christian took another breath to steady himself.  Now wasn’t the time for his thoughts or emotions or any questions he had about her daughter.  He leaned down and dropped a kiss on the top of her head and gently rubbed her back, trying to provide Victoria with any bit of comfort he could.  This wasn’t easy.  None of it had been.  Maybe, it was because of how they started back up.  Maybe everything for them was meant to be hard.  Christian shook the thought away.  He couldn’t think like that, specially right now when she needed him.  

“Will you be okay for about 20 minutes while I run out to grab the test?” Christian asked her softly.  He didn’t want to leave her unless she would be okay.  “I can get you some cold water.  Make sure you have a box of tissues.  Put on your favorite show,” he offered.

“If that’s what you want to call it.” She smirked. Looking at the dance floor with Lola she nodded. “Alright, let’s dance.” Taking another sip of her drink she set it down on the bar and hopped off the bar stool and headed for the dance floor. Grabbing Lola’s hand she pulled the other with her.

Honestly?  Lola didn’t know what else to call it.  It all seemed like crap, but maybe crap they each considered important?  She had no idea really, but did anyone?  She smiled when Gianna offered her hand and took the other woman’s hand in hers, allowing herself to be led out onto the dance floor.  It had been so long since she had danced.  “Hopefully, this will at least be fun,” Lola called out over the music.

Josh knew that going to these other hospitals was useless as they both were going to stay in Seattle. He was excited though to see how Lexie’s interview when in Dallas. He had been out on the balcony when Lexie walked in the door slightly cracked and heard her talking to herself. Opening the door he smirked. “Hello.”

“Enjoying the fresh air?” she teased as she set her bags down.  “Florida looks good on you,” Lexie commented as she closed the space between them and gently wrapped her arms around her boyfriend.  “I missed you,” she added quietly.  It was odd how quickly she had gotten used to spend every night with Josh again.  Sure, they had officially been back together for a few months now, but it was like they fell into exactly where they had left off.

Charlotte needed him right now. She wiggled a little under him with anticipation. Sex was the one thing that she let her guard down a little. Knowing Cooper knew her body better than anyone excited her. As he moved closer she gripped the sheets for a moment. “I’m always ready for you.”

Victoria hated the way she felt when she spoke about her daughter. She knew one day it would hurt less but it still hurt more than she could have ever imagined. The thought of her made her ill and she hated that. She wanted to be happy and remember her daughter without crying. As much as people wanted to believe Victoria was a terrible person she isn’t. There was a lot about her people didn’t know and she kept it that way. She built up skyscrapers around herself and let just about no one in. That was until he came back into her life and the walls slowly came down but only for Christian. Now her walls were crumbled into pieces on the ground. That was the last bit she hadn’t told him. 

She sniffled and pulled away to look at him. “No.” Victoria shook her head. “I just realized I was late.” He was right though she should take a test but she didn’t know if she could bring herself to do it. Wanting to ignore it all together seemed easier until it became a problem but she needed to know. She was an adult and this wasn’t something she could ignore. It wasn’t that she didn’t want more kids she always did but after Morgan she didn’t want anymore. “I don’t have a test.” She looked down for a moment.

Christian nodded when Victoria confirmed she hadn’t taken a test, yet.  They didn’t know anything.  She could have been working herself up for nothing.  He gently wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head.  Sure, he could have been angry or upset with her for not sharing these things with him sooner.  After all, they were supposed to be in a relationship at this point, but he wasn’t.  Maybe it was because he understood how she worked.  Maybe it was because if he had the same things laying in his past, he knew he wouldn’t be shouting them from the rooftops either.  

“So first thing first.  We need a test.  Why don’t I go out and get one?  You can curl up on the couch and try to rest.  Maybe drink some water?” Christian suggested as he rubbed small circles on her back.  Victoria would have to stay away from the wine until they knew for sure if she was pregnant or not, but he didn’t want to be the one to point that out to her.  “Maybe try to eat some dinner if you feel you can?  Then, I’ll come home, and you can take the test.  Then, we will have our answer.”  He felt it would be easier if he laid the plan out for her simply.  It could give her information on what piece she needed to focus on for right now.  “We can do this.  No matter the outcome,” he promised softly.

Gianna had a lot go on when she was back home but never this much going on. It was usually some bullshit about her ex and his family. This was a lot more and she wondered what the hell was in the water. “Oh really? A lot? Interesting. Would’ve never guessed. What do you know?” Gianna smirked and grabbed the drink anyways.

Lola couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped her lips as she reached for the fresh drink.  “Funny how that happens, huh?” she asked softly, glancing around the bar.  There were plenty of people on the dance floor tonight.  “Do you want to dance?  Get our minds off all the crap?”

It had been a long day already.  Lexie was meeting Josh at the hotel because she had an interview in Dallas the night before.  Even though they had more or less agreed to stay in Seattle for their fellowships, it had been fun to entertain other offers and benefits through the process.  This year, their oral boards were in Tampa, Florida.  They were taking a day after their exam to enjoy the beach and relax before heading back to Seattle.  

Lexie checked in, getting her own key card to the room and headed upstairs.  She let herself in.  “I’m here babe!” she called out as she came into the room.  “Have you ordered dinner because I’m starving.  And I was thinking we should probably call it an early night.  Plus, I’m sure your shirt needs ironed,” she said setting her bags down.  “Josh?”

“Oh, tell me about it.” She shrugged. “There’s just a lot going on so you know how that is.” Gianna knew everyone in Seattle had some sort of craziness going on. Everyone had their own thing going on. “More drinks.” She smirked. “Are you trying to get me extremely drunk tonight?” Gianna joked. 

Lola couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped her lips.  Seattle.  It seemed the city attracted people with a lot going on.  Life had maybe been simpler in Boston.  Maybe.  Even that she wasn’t so sure of now.  “Seems like drinks might be the only thing to help, and drinks are something I happen to know a lot about,” Lola said with a wink as the bartender brought their next round over.

“First time.” He grinned. “Okay, fair enough.” Josh laughed but set the box down on the coffee table. “No, we do not. Let’s just move on.” He opened the box and looked at the brunette. “So basically there are dice and cards. You roll the dice and pick a card. Then it gets interesting.” 

Lexie reached for the dice on blew on it before tossing them onto the coffee table.  She grinned and picked up a card.  “Oh this is going to be fun,” she said with a grin.

Lexie reached for the dice and blew on it, staring across at her boyfriend.  “This is going to get really interesting,” she commented before rolling the dice onto the table and picking up her first card.

Victoria looked at her perfect boyfriend and took a deep breathe. “I can’t do this again.” She looked at him. There was a lot her didn’t know about her first marriage. She had kept that quiet for now. Victoria wanted to just be happy for now and she was planning on telling him she just couldn’t bring herself to do. It make her sick to her stomach. There was a chance she wasn’t pregnant but the last time she was this late she was pregnant with Morgan.  

Looking up at Christian she shook her head. “I’ve been keeping something from you about my past.” She nodded. “I had a daughter..” She started and bit her lip. “Morgan. At 5 she was diagnosed with cancer. We fought long and hard but it wasn’t working. Every time we got close we were two steps back.” She sighed and the tears continued to stream down her face. “Andrew and I decided it was time to end the treatments. Morgan was a shell of the person she used to be and we just wanted her to be happy. Have a little bit of happiness left. Without tubes or anything. So we made the most of our time.” Victoria was feeling sick again but she knew that was just the pit in her stomach that showed up when she mentioned her daughter. “She died and a piece of me went with her. I’ve never been the same. It absolutely destroyed my marriage.” She took a deep breathe but it was shaky as she was crying.  

“And now…” She closed her eyes for a moment. “I’m late. 2 weeks late. I don’t think I can go through this again. I can’t lose another child.” Although, she wasn’t sure if she was actually pregnant or not it was just a lot for her to handle. “If I lose another child… Christian I will never be the same-” She looked at him and was trying to compose herself the whole time but she ended up just losing it. Leaning forward she buried her face into his chest. 

“Do what again?” Christian asked.  Victoria seemed to know exactly what she was talking about, but he had no idea.  And he had no idea if the blonde across from him would care to elaborate or not.  He nodded and kneeled down beside of her when she said she had been keeping something from him.  Most adults kept something from one another, or he wouldn’t have been in business.  It was the way the world worked.  Everyone was afraid to be their true self.  

His breath caught hard when she began to talk about some called Morgan in the past tense.  Christian had never heard the name mentioned before.  He gently rubbed her shoulder as Victoria continued to speak.  About her daughter.  Her daughter who died from cancer.  A small life that was taken all too soon.  How did he even respond to something like that?  

As he tried so hard to process the information Victoria was giving him about her daughter, she dropped another bombshell.  She thought she was pregnant because she was late, and she didn’t feel like she could handle it.  They were lawyers, they needed evidence.  That was what they worked with day in and out.  “Have you taken a test?” Christian asked.  It was the only question he could ask where an answer would likely produce evidence.  He glanced around the bathroom for a pregnancy test box, but didn’t see anything.
