apprentice xehanort is terribly underrated so i felt the need to draw him

This is an introductory post to my KH OC, Nixe! Although I’ll keep this brief, I’ve elaborated more on her lore and backstory context at this post.

Age : 29 (realistically her actual age is about roughly 11-12 years old since she was created during late BBS at the same time as Xemnas & Ansem SOD, but mentally and physically she is 29)

Nixe is the manifestation of Master Eraqus' heart. Her appearance is based on what he remembered, made up of his dreams, wishes, and memories which affects her goal motives and personality.

Based on that scene at the end of KH3 when Master Eraqus reappears after emerging from Terra, I theorized that Eraqus heart had transferred into Terra when he was 'killed' by Master Xehanort in BBS; this influenced Nixe's creation, which happened the moment Apprentice Xehanort (Terranort) gave his heart to darkness to create Ansem and Xemnas.

The attribute of Existence is based on the primordial sources of light, which stems from celestial bodies hiding within the darkness of the void.

I’ve had this idea in my head for an entire year, so I thought I’d finally yap about it and make a post explaining it to the best of my ability to give some context on doodles I plan making later. Before I begin, I’d like to apologize if I’m not making any sense in certain areas of the explanation… but then again, this is Kingdom Hearts, and the lore is confusing anyway (this is my first time explaining something like this please be nice ;n;).

KINGDOM HEARTS: Lingering Light AU (Introductory Post)

Based on the storyline of BBS, the main plot of the AU focuses on a hypothetical scenario where Master Eraqus’ consciousness remained inside Terra; this happens when Master Xehanort struck down Master Eraqus in front of Terra, causing Eraqus’ body to fade, and his heart to drift into his student’s body for refuge. This heart stays there silently for a while, even through Master Xehanort’s possession of Terra. Normally, the heart of Master Eraqus would stay silent until the later events of KH3 when Xehanort is defeated… however, in this AU, Eraqus can no longer stand by and allow his own ex-best friend to terrorize his students and the universe.

Post-BBS, the consciousness of Master Eraqus remains inside his heart, which is located inside Terra’s body alongside Master Xehanort’s heart; this affects the way Apprentice Xehanort (Terranort) behaves, which is very double-sided, but also resembles the difference between Eraqus’ and Xehanort’s values and beliefs. When under the influence of Xehanort, the apprentice appears more closed-off and aloof; however, while under Eraqus’ influence, the apprentice appears more friendly and polite.

In the Kingdom Hearts storyline, Master Xehanort’s ultimate goal was to open Kingdom Hearts in order to create a “new world” according to his vision. In this AU, Master Eraqus’ main objective is to thwart Xehanort’s plans in order to preserve the world from annihilation, though… accomplishing this mission won’t be an easy task — especially given Xehanort’s new source of strength via Terra’s body. For any hope of success, Eraqus must carry a powerful ambition within his heart that may someday, answer his prayers.

This is where the introduction of a new species in KH comes in, which is called an Essence.

To put it simply, an Essence is an opposite type of species to a Nobody and a Heartless that is birthed from the core of one’s very being. For this rare phenomenon to occur, one must have a strong heart devoid of any darkness. If their body has ceased, but their heart lingers somewhere, there is a high chance for an Essence to emerge if the heart carries a powerful will.

The first case of this ever happening was through Master Eraqus, which took place not long after Apprentice Xehanort gave his heart to darkness — dividing himself into a Heartless and a Nobody. What he didn’t realize though was that another being had been formed through Eraqus’ heart, which had been silently resting within Terra that whole time. This resulted in the creation of Nixe, Master Eraqus’ Essence.

The mission of every born Essence is determined by the unfulfilled wills leftover from lost hearts, so by nature, Nixe’s goal would be to stop Xehanort from obtaining Kingdom Hearts. To accomplish this, the ideal objective would mean eliminating Xehanort’s Heartless and Nobody, and then Xehanort as a whole upon his recompletion; though, this is easier said than done as 1) Master Eraqus still holds some share of sentiment for his former best friend, and 2) Xemnas’ manipulation over nothingness ultimately creates a block against Nixe’s ability over existence, so fighting him 1 on 1 would be nearly impossible.

So for any chance at fulfilling Eraqus’ lingering wish, Nixe would need to devise a strategic approach to work around the challenges that Xehanort’s other selves pose. However, the altered events that led up to this point in the AU had been a 1/10,000 chance of happening, as various of timelines in the Kingdom Hearts had been unsuccessful at reaching this new scenario. With that being said, all courses of actions must be taken into careful consideration for this one shot at taking a stand against Master Xehanort, and the prophesied demise of the fairy tale world.
