Like it when artists portray adult Fran as being creepy because HE IS. You cannot tell me his illusions often aren't legit nightmare fuel.

On that note, one of my headcanons is that Varia members themselves are extremely aware of his style and are very cautious to not get too into illusion of his while working together. Many haven't slept for weeks after being exposed to them. Aside from Squalo who is just that mentally resistant and Bel but with him it's a hilarious case of "oh, that was pretty but also the fuck happend with sounds?". Bro grew up with Mammon and is mentally unhealthy, he sees right through illusions with terrifying clarity for an insane man. Fran notices btw and never tempers with his mind on purpose – better safe than sorry, he's grown to like that annoying ass a little too much.

The Varia Aesthetic™

I was rereading a couple of my favourite Varia chapters when I noticed… a…. pattern…

Look at how dark this place is! You can’t even see the end of the hallway in the second picture, and the only light they’ve got in there comes from outside.

Now, there seems to be some light in the dining room (thankfully!) but the right side of the picture, where Bel and Mammon just came from, is so dark it eventually fades to black.

And then, when Squalo’s talking, the floor behind him is barely visible…

I mean, I get that you guys are elite assassins and you’re supposed to be very scary and ~m y s t e r i o u s~  and all that but…… please….. turn on the lights, maybe??
