We all know about the DDOS attacks on AO3 as it is still down. So it is very important we talk about the KOSA(Kids Online Safety Act) that is going to hit the floor soon. Because if that act goes through this could very much be the new reality of not only AO3 but online fandom spaces within the next year. The point of this act is to limit queer media and to eliminate online queer spaces.
Let me stress, the politicians are lying to you. Democrats and Republicans are lobbying for this. It is not pro trans rights and it is not pro lgbtq rights. This is very reminiscent of the Restrict Act! Politicians can SUE websites for having QEEER CONTENT. This act will not protect kids, it will further separate and marginalize the queer community!
If this bill goes through AO3, Wattpad, TikTok, Tumblr, and Twitter will be limited and fanfiction websites could be wiped out all together. If you are apart of fandom spaces pay attention and ACT! Call and email your senators! AND SIGN THE BELOW PETITIONS!
Reblog this! Send the links to people who aren’t on Tumblr! If you care about fandom, fandom spaces, your ships, your blorbos, fanfiction writers’ works, freedom to create, etc. Spread this!

Warlord Soundwave (A Theory)
I was going over Cybertron’s history in the Aligned Continuity for current and future installments of my fic series, and I was reminded of something interesting that could shed some light on Soundwave’s past.

First, here’s a quick overview of Aligned Cybertron’s history by @/earthstellar :)
I’m going to be focusing on the Age of Wrath, so here’s an important bit from the wiki:
Because the Great Cataclysm had severely disrupted the development of Cybertron's societies, the comparatively young Cybertronian race had lagged behind in their technological and social development and lived in a largely feudal society ruled by scattered kings and warlords. (TFwiki)
“Medieval” Soundwave
The details of Soundwave’s origins are sparse, but he came online sometime during or before the Age of Wrath. He’s older than Optimus (barring the whole Thirteen thing in The Covenant), possibly younger than Ratchet, and definitely older than Megatron, who emerged from the Well later during Quintesson rule.
This means Soundwave “grew up” in a feudal society.
It’s entirely possible he was a warlord or king, or worked closely with one during the early part of the Age of Wrath before the Quintessons took over.
When the Quintessons arrived, one of the things they did was help oversee matters of the High Council. Sentinel was elected as the head and twelve others were chosen to serve with him. Soundwave was one of those members.
Whether Sentinel or the Quintessons did the choosing is unknown, but either way, I believe the twelve council members were selected from a relatively small pool of prominent individuals.
Who might those individuals have been?
Assuming Sentinel did the picking, he would have selected important individuals from the feudal age who had held positions of esteem. It’s even possible he chose from former kings and warlords who had ruled during that time. Or, perhaps he instead chose from those who had worked closely with them, since asking rulers to share power with twelve others would have been…difficult.
In any case, Soundwave was important enough in Sentinel’s eyes to deserve a place on the High Council.
Why It’s Interesting
For one, it’s fun to consider the possibility that Soundwave was the equivalent to a medieval noble or warlord of some kind. Personally, I think some sort of connection to “warlord” is more likely.
This would explain some things, especially his decision to become a gladiator (of all things) after his departure from the High Council. A former warlord or someone who had fought under one would have been more comfortable and competent in the gladiatorial arena than someone who had only ever known the comfortable life of a high-caste politician.
If Soundwave experienced life under feudalism, his reaction here makes sense:
“All day I hear the chatter of a million disillusioned people. The only goals that the lowest caste has are survival or the pitiful glory of a moment in the pits. All their heroes are brutal monstrosities. They have no knowledge of how anything used to be, or what we were . . . they have already forgotten. I will not be a silent witness to this any longer.”
He stood. “I won't stand here pretending to be better than those laboring in the mines and the smeltyards. You stand for nothing, now, Sentinel, except death. What is the point of your existence? And you . . .” he fixed each of us at a time. “You wait and make excuses and do nothing to kick his useless tailpipe. The system is your tyrant. You are weak. You are pathetic. It shames me to sit here and listen to your self-justifying prattle month on month. You have had kilocycles, and this is all you have managed. Tell me, what will we do?” (The Covenant of Primus)
Soundwave spoke as someone who was pained to see the lower castes reverting to a way of life he thought was dealt away with when the Quints helped the Cybertronian race advance, even though it turned out they’d been deceiving the population.
A Warrior’s Frame

The frame on the left is often referred to as Soundwave’s gladiator frame. However, the official name for it is his Cybertronian Mode.
On the right is what he looked like as a Councilor.
Taking into consideration everything I presented about Soundwave’s history, I like to think his Cybertronian mode on the left is closer to his original frame.
I like the thought that he had his frame altered to appear more civilized/appropriate for his work as a Councilor and then reverted to his original war frame” when he became a gladiator.
To close…
Soundwave would be offended by the connection. lol
Megatron became a warlord of sorts during the war, but he never knew what it was like to be a warlord under Cybertronian feudalism with that kind of ever-present danger and competition.
Soundwave, on the other hand, knew what a warlord was before Megatron was born.
Obviously, Megatron earned his respect, but I still like to think Soundwave—possibly once a warlord himself—shakes his head or laughs at Megatron’s hubris every now and then.
