The other day I learnt that the were means man as in man wolf and comes from old english. The term wereman was the original name for a man, meaning literally manperson and wifman was the term for women, meaning woman person. Over time we dropped the f in wifman and the were in wereman to be left with man and woman, or essentially person and lady person... language is nuts 🥜
