no there wasn't though!!!!!! the roman catholic church's reaction to people saying there was abuse and systematic cover-ups happening was to lean even harder into telling themselves and their congregations that the outside secular world was evil and against christ. and to use their institutional power to pay people off, move historical records, close and prevent access to their sites where physical sexual and psychological abuse went on. the vast majority of people that I personally know who still attend mass will tell you the blacklash against the church was "disproportionate". the RCC reaction was obscence. pack it uppppppp

I think I'm eligible for "home fees" in the UK, which is obviously the biggest load-bearing single-factor in my decision-making ... I've been living in Belgium but I have Rep of Ireland citizenship and no immigration limit on my settled status in the UK ("Indefinite Leave to Remain" without having to apply for it) and I was never officially resided outside the EU, which still helps even post-Brexit. hhhhh I think I'm good.

I did make a list of possible universities in the UK and yes obviously the University of Manchester is on there. NOT because of the MCR music scene obviously. I remember being aghast at Brett Anderson saying that was a decisive factor for him when he started his course in architecture, "oh, I can live in Salford 🥰" ... okay ......... that's weird
