'alert self portrait' by Sloane K (me)

this was a self portrait from my freshman year of college!
I was really struggling with making the portrait look like me, and not just how i see myself in the mirror.
Eventually, while working late hours in the studio I figured somethin' out and the rest flowed from there.
literally the night before I had to submit it.
I have a feeling a lot of people can relate to that haha
Overall, im really proud of this piece and its one of the few i have hanging on my bedroom wall. I put in a lot of hard work and it was most definitely worth it.
I often look at it hanging on my wall to get inspiration to keep creating art.
I think its really good to look back at past works and see how far you've come.
Its been a year since I made this and even after all that time, i still love it!
MEDIUM: charcoal

FIRST POST!!!!!
Fading Steps of The Dancer

HEY, I'm Sloane! I recently created this account because I wanted to find a good platform to share my art. I'm an art student in college, and I've been drawing my whole life. I love using mediums that are a little offbeat at times, but my favorites are charcoal, oil pastels, and good ol' crayola crayons!
For this art piece, the assignment was to take two different art styles, techniques, or subjects and combine them. I cannot for the life of me remember two art pieces I combined, but this is the finished product that I slaved over, and I'm quite proud! One thing I struggled with was the bottom row of stairs. Drawing perspective is quite hard, especially with so many different angles! However, I learned a lot from this drawing. It definitely helped me improve my skills.
