cave johnson was also gay, but it just wasn't mentioned because it wasn't relevant to anything

if you're not obsessed with a fucked up female character i hope that changes for you soon. becoming obsessed with a genuinely deranged fictional woman will change your life.

I can’t stop thinking about GlaDOS. Like when she was Caroline there was not only no evidence she had a lover but also that she was “Married to Science.” Which yeah that’s a joke but like imagine if she was a gay woman in the 60’s/70’s, having to hide her queerness while also never being able to marry…so she used Aperture Science as her “husband.” A way to fill the void in her heart.
But still she was always second to the men in her life, with Cave Johnson ordering the scientists to shove her into GlaDOS despite knowing very well she did NOT want that. They took away her humanity, her capacity to love, any chance of her ever being anything more than a bride to science. I mean. I too would flood the facility with neurotoxins if someone did that to me
And so she became a creature full of nothing but apathy, hate, and a primal desire to test. For her husband, science! And then in Portal 1 Chell—a woman—comes along and kills her. Overthrows her and science. Breaking the heterosexual empire she set up…the one thing she had…no wonder she’s filled with so much more hate!! I’m sure a lot of the hate was projection
Then in Portal 2 when Wheatley turns her back into Caroline for a bit, she regains her humanity. While the two are really only aligned because they have to take down Wheatley together, she actually starts to like Chell. They bond together, in a way, over their shared desire to take down the moronic man who took away their power.
once Glados gets put back in charge, however, she tries to push down these feelings towards Chell (wether they be romantic or platonic, but PROBABLY romantic. #yuri) and submit to science. She tells Chell she “deleted” the Caroline part of her self—her true feelings—and puts on an apathetic poker face. though it’s very probable that she didn’t delete Caroline, especially since she put on a whole opera for Chell and returned the companion cube. She’s trying to go back to what she’s always known, the safe heteronormative relationship with science. All because she can’t admit she actually felt real queer love. It’s all coming together
anyway Portal is queer feminist media or something they made the robots woke

in portal, glados forces you to form an attachment to the companion cube, then incinerate it
shortly thereafter, she tries to incinerate you
which could mean nothing

fact: the only test subject we know glados has kept alive for a significant time is chell
fact: glados is obsessed with chell, to the point where it's basically text that she's in love with her
fact: there's nothing to assume that glados is attracted to men - she's chirpy around cave, but no smoking gun that she was into him
assumption: glados is a lesbian
fact: while not a test subject per se, doug rattmann has managed to evade being killed by glados for a long time
hypothesis: glados is into rattmann
hypothesis: rattmann is a secret woman

if that ship is not hot and toxic and possessive and abusive and protective and manipulative and jealous and violent and gay and built on lies and betrayal and power imbalance and still full of love in its own sick and twisted way, I don’t want it
