          a weak laugh, barely raising above audible level as he brings his knees closer to his chest. eyes flicker toward the girl, before shaking his head. 

                  ❝   that doesn’t exactly make me FEEL any better.  ❞

         he didn’t want to forget. his friends  ?  memories they made ?  all of those made him what he was. gave him emotions that he felt he lacked before. if he forgot them… would he be that blank canvas once again ?

          that would gain a chuckle from him. another point of proof of why HE had to be the one out there – why he had to be the one to see this through, the front of the battle. eyes flicker upward from that place on the beach. the silent home of the other’s heart. it was a feeling – that voice, that tone of it. even though he was alone – he wasn’t, really. 

         he leans back, allowing his hands to settle on the sand, before deciding to just completely lay against it. the warmth relaxed him as he looked at the sky, fondly remembering the other’s name sake.

         roxas spoke to the open air, hoping that the other could feel, if not hear, his promise.

         eyes flicker toward the other, a curious look on his face as he allows the keyblade to dissipate from his hand – the gentle tendrils of light ticking his gloved hand. hands, now free, would settle on his hips as he tilted his head. 

          ❝  being a little proud of a good day’s work isn’t what i would call HUBRIS.  ❞  serious look would melt into a toothy grin, though, it would disappear for a second as concern took over.

       ✰—-He wasn’t able to explain the uncanny PRIDE at the compliment, the way his defense shifted to confusion then curiosity. It was rather hard to be mad at him, knowing that through most of his journey Sora has been running between identities and chasing its crisis through every step ; afraid of becoming the very person in front of him. But there was nothing to fear in knowing that ROXAS had been his own person and that it wasn’t unfair of him to want an individuality the Organization couldn’t give. 

      But lowering his keyblade, he stood unsure of where to continue. Of what to say or if he should apologize. ( after all this was all my fault, wasn’t it ? ) Looking foolish, the keybearer shifted his weight and studied the reflection. Observing all the ways there held similarities and how DEFINING the differences became.       ❝ Yeah, ❞ Sora mused, the hints of a smile returning to boy in front of him. ❝ It’s funny…I’m kinda glad to see you too. It’s—it’s good to know you’re real. That I didn’t just—make you up or anything. ❞  Sora almost wondered what would have hurt worse.       Running from him.       Or realizing he wasn’t even there to begin with.       ❝ Good to finally meet you, Roxas. ❞

NAMINE.

☆ He was beginning to be just as easy to read as Sora was. She watched him fidget and fiddle, knowing that she couldn’t give much comfort as the bearer of bad news. Still, she waited until he was ready with a question. Patience was something that she was gifted with and was more than willing to wait for him to get his bearings together.

What he asked her next was almost simple, but just as complicated as the rest of this story. Her head turned to the drawings on the wall, having memorized every single one and knew where each one belonged in sequence. “He’s the one that has the strongest light.” She began, “He carries a burden that not everyone can bear.”

“He’s kind, and willing to help others even when it comes at the cost of his own comfort.” Naminé turned to look back at Roxas, a small smile. “He would probably help you too if he had met you.”

          the patience was welcome, unable to gather much of his mind around the situation -- even with the twisting memories that attempted to throw & tug themselves into the forefront of his mind. memories that made his head ACHE, yet he welcomed them unconsciously. 

          at the turn of her head, his own head would follow. eyes flicker toward the drawings on the walls, tracing the looping strokes with his eyes. as the other spoke, he would listen -- eyes landing on a picture of sora with three other people, & stayed on it. 

                    hand moves to settle at his chest once more. 

                              why does that make him so... SAD ?

          roxas tears his gaze away from the drawing, to look back at naminé, humming quietly. 

          ❝  i’m guessing, with that phrasing, he’s not going to meet me, huh ?  ❞  a shame, he would have liked to meet the boy that people talked so highly of, that he was ... disappearing for. 

          ❝  i’m going to DISAPPEAR if i do this thing ... right ?  ❞  a steel weight in his stomach.

          eyes scan toward the other, unaware that the other had been listening to his quiet talk to himself. a laugh, hands shoving into pockets --

          ❝  let’s hope you’re right. it’s really getting TIRING at this point.  ❞ a laugh, shrouding the nerves & tenseness that he held.
