OOOOOOOOOOOH WHAT A COOL CONCEPT FOR A SEQUEL/SUB-AU 👀👀👀 the title is so clever, I love how you riffed off of an actual Mr. Puzzles quote for it!!

Elix’s human design is AMAZING, I love how moody this is and the amount of detail in the bg is astounding. I love the idea of him going after Mister Puzzles once he learns of the murders, it’s so tragic but fits him so well.

Human Elix in the Slasher AU! Me and Fenice came up with an idea for a non canon sequel called “Smile for the Camera; You’re on the Air!” Basically after learning about his friends deaths from Meggy, including Tari’s death, Elix sets out to get revenge on Puzzles. This would be a scene where Elix finally comes face to face with Puzzles.

Again, this is non canon, but I was bored and felt motivated to do digital art, so why not draw this?

Smile For The Camera: Part 1

In the summer of 2025, five members of the “SMG4 Crew” had their camping getaway turned upside down by a killing spree inflicted upon them by an anonymous masked killer, who went by the alias “Mister Puzzles”.

Mister Puzzles had been filming each of the murders in an attempt to create his very own “slasher movie” starring the crew. The killer has now been identified as ▇▇ ▇▇▇, who had been missing and presumed dead for fifteen years since the murder of his father.

Meggy Spletzer, the only conscious survivor, has recounted her tale and was luckily able to grab the killer’s video camera, which he had reportedly used to filmed each of the murders, and turn it in to the police.

Down below is a transcript of each tape.

Video 1

The tape began with a camera shifting around and out-of-focus, with the muffled sound of somebody trying to adjust the lens.

Eventually the noise was brought to an end, and the camera focused.

Placed in front of the camera is the killer, “Mister Puzzles”. He was kneeling on the ground in the middle of the woods with his arms outstretched to the camera. He was a slim man with messy, poorly fitting formal clothes and dirty hiker’s boots. His greasy black hair was draped over his shoulders, reaching slightly below his hips in length. He had the camera positioned so that his head was completely cut out of frame.

Once he seemed to notice that the camera was rolling and ready, he straightened himself up slightly and brought his hands back to himself. He then began to quietly speak in a low, hoarse voice with restrained excitement seeping from every word.

“My dearest viewers…

What you are about to watch is a film like no other.

A work of art, comprised of all of the classic slasher elements you know and love, but in a way you’ve never seen before.”

Mister Puzzles then got up from where he was kneeling and walked to a nearby tree where an axe was resting against the trunk. In a drawn-out scene, he bent down to grab a rusted broken Television from the floor beside it, positioning it onto his head and tucking his long untamed hair into it. He secured it tightly over his head, then picked up the axe. Now walking back to the video camera, he knelt down to its level before speaking once more.

“I must tell ya, I’ve been beyond excited to finally share this masterpiece with the world…”

He then used his free hand to pick up the camera and bring it to his level, now showing his head encased in the TV mask with only one eye visible through the crack in the screen.

“And how wonderful is it that you get to witness it?”

His eye crinkled into a smile.

“Enjoy the show, my friends.”

Video 2

The scene abruptly ended and started displaying a new video.

This time, he was inside what was now confirmed to be the SMG4 crew’s rental cabin. It was bright in the day from the light outside.

The camera was facing out of a window, trembling ever so slightly in the cameraman’s grasp. The curtains were mostly closed, but thin enough that you could still see what was happening outside of them with a light flower embroidery at the ends. Outside was a breathtaking scene of the forest, the trees and grass as green as ever. The faint sounds of an approaching car could be heard.

It continued to become louder and louder until a large purple truck pulled in front of the cabin, parking messily and blocking the view of some of the trees.

After a moment, the front door clicked open with the SMG4 crew stepping out of the car, chatting and laughing loud enough to be heard through the closed window. Hurriedly, the cameraman backed up, turning and racing to the living room closet. Breathing heavily, he ducked inside, continuing to open a door hidden inside of the closet and entering a dark space with small bits of light peeking through the wood.

Walking in a little further, he turned the camera towards the light and positioned it to be facing through a small hole in the wood. There was a full view of the living room, showcasing the old couch, mounted deer heads on the wall, and homely decor.

After a while of nothing, the door is unlocked and opened.

The chatter of the SMG4 crew immediately gets louder as they all step through the door, one by one. Their words jumbled together in an excited mess aside from occasional laughter.

They all wandered around the living room, splitting up to each look at a different area of the cabin. The cameraman shifts his focus amongst each of them as they wander the premises, commentating on them the entire time.

As some members of the group wandered into the house, the killer stepped quietly to follow them with the camera. First, he put his focus onto Tari and Meggy, who were walking through the living room and chatting to one another.

"Man, look at this place! It looks like they haven't changed the furniture in years!" Meggy laughed as she eyed a particularly old lamp on the couchside table.

Tari seemed a bit less fond of the place as she spoke.

"I-I don't know if it's just me, but this place is kinda creeping me out..." she quietly stuttered out, her eyes gazing over the mounted deer heads.

"Oh, you don't have to worry, Tari," Meggy smiled sympathetically at her, " Three's just an idiot. Don't listen to his ghost stories."

Tari gave a small smile to Meggy, her brow still tensed in worry.

The cameraman then moved quietly through the inside of the wall to the hallway, peeking the camera through another small hole to show the open door of a bedroom.

SMG4 and SMG3 entered the bedroom and started putting their things down. Four jumped onto one of the two beds in the room, landing on his stomach.

"Dibs on this one!"

"Hey, no fair," Three whined in response, "I wanted that one!"

"Well, that's just too bad. Because it's mine now," Four replied smugly, flipping onto his back and putting his hands behind his head mockingly. Three promptly walked over and shoved him off the bed as they both starting to laugh.

Meanwhile, Tari and Meggy briefly walked through the hallway to the room they were planning to share. Mario followed behind them.

The cameraman quickly moved to find another crack in the wall, eventually sticking the camera in front of a small vertical one that was just big enough to give a view of Mario and the girls.

Mario was carrying one suitcase to their room as they spoke.

"Thanks for the help, Mario!" Meggy cheered.

"Not-a problem!"

Meggy then changed her look to a slightly more sympathetic one.

"Are you sure you're cool with sleeping on the couch? We can always kick Four or Three out of the bedroom if you'd rather-"

"No no," Mario interrupted her enthusiastically, "Mario likes-a the couch!"

Meggy giggled in response. "Ah, right, I forgot."

They all shared a small chuckle as a group until Tari went silent and started looking around nervously again.

At one point, she looked directly at the wall where the camera was being held.

She didn't seem to see it, but she got close.

The camera was quickly pulled away from the crack and was promptly in darkness once again. The faint chatter of the group was still audible through the walls.

Eventually, someone that sounded like Three yelled to the rest of the group.

"Alright, let's get our stuff and hit the lake!"

What followed was excited commotion, the sounds moving away from the hallway and to the front door.

After another abrupt end to the previous video, the footage cut to a shaky camera view from what appeared to be a hiding spot within a tree. The distant scenery showcased a huge lake, glistening in the late afternoon sun with the run-down dock barely in view.

In this view, the SMG4 Crew were all storing their things at some trees nearby the dock. They were all wearing varying swimsuits and carrying towels that they similarly placed with their bags.

Once she was done, Meggy started to sprint down the dock, screaming excitedly all the way before jumping into the water with a loud splash. Mario soon followed, then Tari and then SMG4 and SMG3 started racing down the dock to jump in as well.

Before they could jump in, however, Three put his hand out in front of Four and stopped him. He seemed to take on a more serious demeanor as he pointed somewhere in the water. Four and the others in the water started to take on a worried look as they looked to where Three pointed. But as he was looking, Three snuck behind Four and shoved him into the water, spawning a scream from Four before he was cut off by a loud splash.

The rest of the group went up in laughter as Four's head emerged from the water, his angry yelling sounding jumbled from the camera's speaker.

Three jumped in not long after, landing very close by to Four. The moment Three's head emerged from the water, Four started to tackle him and dunk his head back in the water.

The group continued laughing together, eventually starting a full-fledged splash fight amongst themselves, continuing to play in the water as the sun slowly set.

Once the previous video ended, the scene cut to a small clearing in the dark forest.

For roughly sixteen or so minutes, it was just the crew laying down in the grass and laughing together. Their words mostly jumbled together, but occasionally certain phrases, laughs, and the like would break through clearly.

After that time passed, SMG4, SMG3, and Mario got up to leave, briefly chatting to Meggy and Tari.

“You sure you guys wanna stay here?”

“Yep! We’ll be back in a jiffy.”

“Alright. Goodnight you two!”

The boys gave one last wave and walked offscreen back to the cabin, while Meggy and Tari stayed laying besides each other and looking up at the stars. They were chatting to one another, their voices not loud enough to be picked up by the camera.

Then, after a few minutes, they went silent for a bit, just staring up at the sky.

Then, Meggy got up from where she was sitting and started talking to Tari just barely loud enough for the speakers to pick up on.

“Hey, Tari, I gotta go pee. You stay right here, okay?”

“Uh- wait, are you really going to leave me here?”

“I’ll be back in no time, I promise! You have the flashlight, just flick it on and off for me if you need me, okay?”

“…okay.”

Meggy smiled at Tari before turning around, slipping her headphones over her ears, and venturing deep into the trees.

For a while, Tari just layed alone, staring up at the stars above. In the distance, you could see a tall, square-headed silhouette in the trees behind her.

Tari sits up a bit, still gazing at the sky. Her face seems a bit tense, like she’s still nervous to be out there all alone, but the view of the stars is calming her down slightly.

The footage shows the killer slowly approaching behind her, walking quietly and meticulously, somehow never alerting Tari's attention towards him. As he gets closer and the moonlight slightly illuminates him, it becomes visible that he is carrying a large rope in one hand.

He stands a slight distance behind Tari, unmoving, for a while. For a moment, he even looks up to the sky himself.

Then, he breaks the silence, Tari's face twisting into a look of wide-eyed terror as he spoke.

"Aren't they lovely?"

Tari barely even has a second to turn around before the killer strikes. He immediately tackled her to the floor, and for a moment the screen was a blur of action. It was clear that Tari was putting up a decent fight despite the killer's strength and was trying to defend herself.

During the struggle, the killer was eventually able to get the upper hand after all, tying the rope tightly around Tari's neck and yanking on both ends of it. Tari stilled in an instant, her previously flailing hands immediately grasping to the rope.

The killer now slowly started to stand up, pulling the rope that was still tightly strung around Tari's throat with him. He lifted his arms, dragging the girl up with them until she was dangling in the air. He was soon holding her to his eye-level, his stare piercing through her as she was slowly strangled.

Tari continued to gasp for air as she was hung over of the ground, her hands desperately clawing at the rope around her neck, trying to loosen it somehow, even if only slightly. Kicking her legs, she was trying to escape or wriggle herself out of the killer's firm grasp. Instead of reacting, he just continued to stare at her, barely seeming to blink.

Eventually, Tari delivered a hard kick to his knee, causing him to let out a small cry and stumble for a moment, before catching his footing once more.

In one quick, furious motion, he yanked tightly on both ends of the rope, producing a sickening crack from Tari's neck. She jerked in pain for a split-second and then fell limp, her head dropping at an unnatural angle to the side.

The killer stood there, unmoving. Almost as if he were taking in what had just occurred.

After a brief moment of stillness, he turned his gaze towards the camera and walked towards it.

Once he was closer, he crouched down to the camera and lifted the still head of Tari's corpse to show the details of what he had just done.

Her body was only barely connected to her head by the skin of her neck, but the structure inside was clearly crushed beyond repair. Her pale face somehow looked even paler, the blue veins climbing up her face from the harsh bruise around her neck. Her blank eyes were bloodshot and her lips were a dull blue.

Mister Puzzles then moved his masked head into the shot, his eye crinkled into a wicked smile.

"How's that for an opener, huh?"

Meggy going nuts by the end and just destroying the camera is PERFECT, she would absolutely try to do anything she can to get back at him by that point. Even if it meant destroying the camera. Honestly Mister Puzzles would probably be crazy enough to jump into the barrel and try RETRIEVE the camera.

It isn’t canon for this AU. No ships are canon in it, because I want the focus to be on the horror/slasher elements rather than shipping.

I’m more than okay with people interpreting ships they enjoy into this AU (so long as Mister Puzzles isn’t included in them), but they will not be made canon to the actual storyline.

Cried out the now maskless killer as he stumbled back, trying to hide his face from the camera lying on a nearby desk.

Meanwhile, the "final girl" Meggy approached him, axe in hand.

"I. DON'T. CARE!"

SLASH

In a single swing, the killer who stalked and killed all of Meggys' friends was dead. His head cut clean of his neck.

After a bit of stumbling, his body slumped down against a wall....it was finally over.

Meggy lowered the axe, tears running down her face as she realized she was now alone. Everyone else was dead.

She looks down at the TV Mister Puzzles used to wear on his head.

Unable to look at the headless stump gushing with blood, she grabbed the TV and placed it onto the headless corpse

"Here's that damn TV you love so much"

She walks out of the shed. She barely makes a mile away before she falls to her knees, sobbing as the cops she called hours ago found her.

But back in the shed where the body layed, something began to happen

The body twitched and shivered as wires from the TV fused with what was left of his neck

Despite the TV being broken since forever, the screen somehow turned to static

The screen switched to a face, eyes manic and its mouth nearly took up half of its face with dull multi-colored teeth.

The hole in the screen was still there slightly surrounded by static.

Slowly, Mister Puzzles raised his hand up to his new head.

He stumbled to a nearby mirror and looked at his new face.

"I......i'M bEaUtIfUl...."

His voice now glitchy and staticey.

He laughed manicly at his new form as the camera that was recording everything ran out of battery.

UPDATE ON THIS PROJECT SINCE IT’S BEEN A WHILE

Hello everyone!! So sorry for my inactivity on this blog. Life’s been busy and I ended up getting caught in many other projects, so I kinda forgot to update on this one.

I promise I’ve seen all the asks sent, and I plan to reply to them as soon as I can, and the first volume of the actual story is in the works!! It’ll be done as soon as I can finish them.

Thank you all so much for all your support on this project! I’ve seriously appreciated every piece of fanart, every kind comment, and every ask sent. I’m hoping to finish everything as soon as I can, and in the meantime, thank you for your patience :)

Are there any fun facts about Slasher Puzzles? :D

Oh I have a LOT. Here’s a small collection of them!!

Mister Puzzles’ voice sounds significantly different from canon, being far more raspy and hoarse. He’s barely spoken at all in the past 15 or so years that he’s been living in the woods aside from occasionally muttering to himself or talking to the characters while watching TV. He usually speaks in a bit of a quieter/more neutral volume because of this, since it puts a lot more strain on his vocal cords to raise his voice, unless he’s extremely mad or needs to shout for some reason.

^adding on to this: singing is COMPLETELY out of the question for him. It would come out sounding godawful and probably strain his throat if he tried to sing too loudly.

He’s a bit younger than my usual interpretation of Mr. Puzzles (Slasher Puzzles is 32, while I usually interpret Puzzles as being in his 50s)

As you can imagine, he hasn’t seen every moving picture in existence like canon Mr. Puzzles has. He’s watched a lot but doesn’t have access to every show or movie ever released. He usually just watches whatever’s playing on the TV, but constantly frequents the horror channels.

There’s a decently big lake in the forest where Puzzles lives that he ADORES. The lake is his favorite part of the forest. He spends a lot of his time there when he isn’t foraging or sitting in the cabin living room in front of the TV.

Most of the things he owns, he’s stolen from campers he came across in the woods. He brought practically nothing with him when he initially ran away from home since he was in such a panic in that moment, so he’s had to rely solely on whatever was in the cabin he now lives in, what nearby campers have, and anything else in the woods that wouldn’t kill him. So far it’s served him well since he isn’t dead yet.

Was most definitely thinking “wow, it’s like I’m in Survivor (2000)” when he first started living in the woods.

He has a funnel chest, which affects his breathing and his ability to run for long periods of time. Despite this, he’s still incredibly fast and active - probably more so than some of the members of the SMG4 crew.

He has a small collection of weapons that he found in the cabin’s tool shed and plans to use - an axe, a saw, a machete, some rope, and a small pocket knife. The axe is his favorite when it comes to practicality, but the saw is his favorite because he thinks it looks awesome.

Shockingly enough, he hasn’t killed that many people before deciding on targeting the SMG4 crew. Before he found them and came up with his movie, he’d only killed one person, and it was in a complete blind rage - not intentional at all. The SMG4 crew were just a breaking point for him.

The clothes you see him wearing in all the official art for this AU? He doesn’t usually dress like that. This is EXCLUSIVELY for his movie. He normally just wears worn down, sewn-together jeans and a tank top.
