J10-Everything coming together

As a group we pulled it all together. Each of us was assigned a different job and during class time we colaborated our ideas!I personally am helping with the final product, brand logo and the power point. Below are some sketches, renderings, and pictures i made of the progress in the past week. I worked on the user manual for our product The Clover Table!

Design 200 has been a great class! I eye opener of what a career in design with lead to! I enjoyed watching the videos because i feel like they were carefully chosen to make us think and they were there to prove a point and teach us something maybe in a different way! Doing the blog was cool, once I got the hang of it! It was some hassel because I kept forgetting I had homework because i had no physical papers saying so! But overall the Blog was awesome learning experience and I enjoyed reading others blogs on what they thought about different things that we did in the class. Professor Tippery is cool, he wants us to learn definately, he does a great job of doing that in his own way!!!

Our team is deigning a folding table that can be used at its full size or at one-fourth of its size. We all have added to the presentation, working in this group has been great everyone has shared their ideas and worked together to solve issue with our product. Our product addressed real live issues and I think that our presentation overall will be a success!!!

Our team is going full speed ahead! Everyones sharing the work load and we have came up with a pretty nice product. I seem to be enjoying this whole design for a company with a different view. We have decided to propose the idea of a full size coffee table that can be folded down to 1/4 of its size and then be used at that size also and another feature that we included on the table is a adjustable leg so we can adjust the heights of the table. We are excited to present this idea!!!

Chapters 9-10
The chapters I found relatively boring but very important. Ultamately the government rule is going to determing whether or not your product makes it out into the real world market. Whether or not your products going to bring up legal problem is all in question here. The second thing brought to attention in these chapters was that the world of design is evolving everyday. Making a product that other will be able to evolve off of may be more successful than a product left at a dead end.

Coleman Project Day 02
As a group we decided to ditch or previous ideas and sketches and gear more towards a audience of small spaces, small families and college students who lack space in their dorms. We have decided to go with a table that is able to store away onto the wall only being "out" when needed! Heres some rough sketches!

The overall of the chapters were to define that nature most always reuses and reinvents itself and how us as human users should be more aware of this process. Learning from nature would be as learning from the "wise one" as nature was here before any of us. The chapters also focused a bit on how products should be designed to where they will be used in specific locations of the world and specific consumers. Then finally the chapters merge into one and identify a plan of action of how we can do this in our daily lives. I enjoyed the chapters and now and conscious of everyday activities and things that I use and question myself "Am I using this product to its fullest?" "Am I disposing of this product in a resourceful manner?"

Wednesdays class short and sweet!!! I enjoyed the video of Questions and Answers and since I am not a Design major Charles and Ray Earnes was all new to me so it was interesting to hear a life lived as design especially as a couple. I am enjoying the non-lecture based classes!

I really enjoyed this chapter opening the view of more of what the author is trying to explain the theory of "cradle to grave" that we need to change the ways that we have been stuck in for so many years to better our enviroment for those in the future and try to stop the damage that we have already done. Technological advances shouldnt just be designed to be convient to the consumer but, the should also be designed to protect or better the enviroment. We cannot fix the damage we have already done to the enviroment so it is time to move forward, start a new page. Do things not only for "us" but for our enviroment.

Watching RIP! really opened my eyes of how basically everything you do in media can be put up in the court room as a fight. Girltalk simply remixed musics of his likings dropped his beats at small shows with crowds of 400ish and was doing it because he loves it not because he is trying to disobey the laws. I think the idea of taking something that was created in this world and rebuilding on it makes more sense. In a way to evolve instead of stand still. I never knew how serious somethings are until this video it really opened my eyes to the legal world a bit.

DESIGN AND COLOR
Source #1
http://www.colourlovers.com/
This website is all about color. It allows you to open everyone else's ideas of color and share your own ideas of color schemes, palettes, trends and such. This article is the most interesting that I found. Its more like a visual of all things color and how color can be rearranged and morphed into different schemes.
Source #2
http://www.colormatters.com/brain.html
This site discussed different aspect of color and how they affect us as humans. Such as: Effects on the Body, Effects on Vision, Business and Marketing and Science, Computers and Design & Art.
Source #3
Color and Emotions
This is a site using a college study to back up evidence that color and emotions are related! Also below is a link to a really neat YouTube video I found about color and emotions.

This article explains how colors are used in designs! It explains how different colors are often seen in room such as blue bathrooms and yellow kitchens.
Source #5

Course Reflection (2/2/11)
I really enjoyed the "green" aspect of the class. The small tips on heating and ventilation in lecture were very interesting to me because I live in a old house with old cold windows. Its always enjoyable to see the greener side of design world. The video that I found most interesting would be the video with Janine relating many ideas and products to insects and animals that do the very same thing in nature every day and how nature basically inspires design.

Cradle to Cradle
At first I found the book to be kind of a bore, but then I kept reading at it was kind of interesting how the author opens your eyes to a whole new way to view your very own living room. The part of the chapter the book talks about many objects in our homes that appear harmless but contain harmful chemicals. Usually you would only think of things like cleaners and such to be a bug to the enviroment but the book does a good job to go beyond that cleaning products stand point and to see things that we might not think of as dangerous. The chapter talks about throwing away and explains that their is not such place as "away" so these chemicals just duplicate somewhere else. I think the chapter has a overall theme of turning green. This chapter of the book is creating a thesis about rethinking this process, so that we humans can even further minimize waste, and use natural intelligence to have our products decompose or otherwise desist in an environmentally friendly manner.
