Rufus wasn’t really ever one for allowing so-called physical limitations to stop him from doing as he pleased, and this wheelchair of his was no different. One could only get so much sun at the Healen Lodge, and even he, a person who preferred some peace and quiet, was missing hearing the chatter of a crowd. Given the lack of areas that were still intact, however--the only place he could think of for the time being was Costa del Sol. 

Thankfully, with much of the world undergoing reconstruction, he received a compromise in the form of there being a handful of chattering people who could easily be tuned out if he focused on the sound of the ocean waves. Exhaling quietly to himself as he felt the brine scented breeze approach and cause the linen sheets obscuring much of his body to brush along his skin, Rufus couldn’t help but feel his shoulders lose a minute amount of tension.

Whether it’s the geostigma that lies at the root of his headache or the sounds of construction--It doesn’t really matte either way, more the fact that it’s there at all. In fact, it’s enough of a distraction that he isn’t hearing the call of his name until the other’s voice hits a slightly louder volume.

With his condition far from ideal and pain often wracking his body--The most sensible thing to do was to rest in bed, in the safety of the lodge he’s settled into in Kalm. Naturally, Rufus was doing the blatant opposite and moving about in his wheelchair outside, navigating himself onto the lift installed for his sake so he could reach the rooftop. However, as he presses the series of buttons--he found himself clicking his tongue impatiently when the result was a shrill beep signifying an error.

Rufus actually has somewhat of an aversion towards using materia or having it used on him, especially after just barely surviving the salvo launched by the Diamond Weapon. He prefers to simply heal naturally rather than depend on materia, or in a fight: He prefers using his shotgun or whatever firearms are available.
