Scientists In India have discovered the remains of “Vasuki Indicus”, apparently one of the largest snakes to roam the earth in our history. (As far as we’re aware.)
It existed up to 47 million years ago, estimated to be 36-40ft long, Vasuki Indicus was most likely a swamp-dwelling constrictor, exactly what it’s prey was is currently unknown, but we can guess it was most likely larger reptiles, it belongs to the “Madtsoiidae” family, which historically speaking seems to thrive in points where temperatures were at its highest, remains of the Madtsoiidae family were also found in Africa, Europe and Asia.
Complete novice here, but it is probably because out of 9 (?) species criteria the "can they fuck eachother" one is sometimes the only one that's identifiable by a single individual (=specimen).
everything’s so fucked up and im here looking at worms’ genitals
ok I wasn't planning on adding this but I love animal fun facts and since a mentioned the "snake jaw" thing twice now I want to share that technically, snakes don't unhinge their jaws!
They have two lower jaws that are disconnected, which helps them to stretch their mouths so much!
