“I totally agree…I don’t know why they won’t tell us more.” She said softly then glanced back down at her lap moving her hands to fiddle with her sweater. Needing to do something to distract herself. “Have you heard anything yet?”
Internally, Valentino was delighted by how uneasy she looked, her every tense movement amusing him. But on the surface, he worried his lip between his teeth, reaching out to pat her gently on the shoulder. “No, unfortunately not. But soon, right?”

balthazarmackenett:
shaking his head, balthazar couldn’t help but chuckle at his friend’s words. “oh come on they aren’t that bad,” he said watching a few of the girls walk by with linger eyes on them. the older male made it not a secret that he swung both ways, enjoying sex in general with either gender. he wasn’t picky. “besides their blood of course…that is where you have to get picky,” he continued looking at his friend and then nodding his head, “your mom is nice…”
“you sound like a vampire... talking about their blood like that, people would think it if they didn’t know any better,” valentino teased, shaking his head. “i don’t get the appeal but... you do you, i guess. i’m going to stick to enjoying more of my type,” he said, running an appreciative eye down bal’s body. at the mention of his mom again, he smiled. “hell yeah she is.” more than just nice, she was fierce, and val respected her more than anyone bar his father.

valentino frowned, turning around to come face-to-face with james potter of all people. he had to suppress his disgust, instead his expression morphing into a broad smile directed at the other male. “my quill? oh, thank you,” he said, taking it and tucking it in his bag. “good eye. i probably wouldn’t have noticed.”
closed starter for @snakevalentino.
“hey,” james called out, springing from his seat. “you dropped your, uh—” he crouched down, picking up the stranger’s quill that had fallen from his bookbag. standing back up, he hands it back to the other with a friendly smile. “this. you dropped this.”

once they were completely out of sight, lucy lets out a soft snort, playfully jostling val’s side. “if i didn’t know any better, i would’ve fallen for your little act,” lucy said, lips twitching in cruel amusement. “i think you’ve finally found your hidden talent.”
valentino laughed, nudging her back, a malicious glint in his eyes. “you’re right. i was always destined to be an actor,” he joked, still snickering. “honestly though, the number of people that have asked if i’m alright is downright delightful.”

Valentino raised an eyebrow, watching the girl coolly. Like him, she was a transfer, so he felt a kinship there, but she was just so shrill and a Hufflepuff too along with a half-breed? Val had never thought to give her the time of day, but here she was, running her mouth near him so he couldn’t help but reply. “I’m fine. It’s tragic, really... I hope he’s alright and they find him soon,” he said smoothly. “But I’m also not worried about my skin either. I take care of myself.”
“Everyone’s so grouchy these days, don’t you lot realize you’re going to get crow’s feet – or worse, frown lines!?” Estelle crinkles her nose in disgust at the thought. Perhaps not the most tasteful of comments considering the situation, but her mouth had the tendency to run off thoughtlessly. A third year went missing, which was obviously tragic. Estelle was as torn up about it as anyone with half a mind, she just found ignoring the unfortunate things made carrying about as usual far easier. In a rare moment of genuine kindness, she clears her throat. “All things considered, how’re you handling it all?”

Valentino had a spare period so he’d headed outside to get some air, but when he’d spotted his housemate, he’d detoured and heading in Cora’s direction. He managed to overhear the tail-end of her conversation with herself, and raised an eyebrow. “Talking to yourself is the first sign of insanity,” he said, sitting next to her without an invite. “I wasn’t trying to be sneaky. You just weren’t paying attention. You freaked out about this whole Ezekiel thing?”
She had heard her parents speaking about the Night Walker movement. They hadn’t said much but barely mentioned it a few times and Cora at the time didn’t really think much of it. Now her mind was racing as she sat quietly outside in the courtyard with Nyx laying by her side. He always did that when he sensed there was tension. Cora’s jaw tensed since there still had been no word of Ezekiel’s whereabouts. “There’s no way he’s just missing.” She said in a low voice, mostly to herself but then jumped upon hearing another voice, “Can you not sneak up on people?! Geez!”

Valentino walked inside, nudging the door shut behind him as he eyed Cainan. Upon his arrival to Hogwarts, he’d immediately been intrigued by his housemate, and the other male’s wares were only half the appeal. He licked his lips, before making himself comfortable, leaning against the wall and running his eyes across his body. “Why can’t it be both?”
Cainan was pulling the last of his newest haul out of his knapsack when he heard the door to the broom closet creak open further, moving from the slit he’d left it at to wide open. Turning, a bottle of daisyroot draught in hand, he looked to the doorway and the person standing there with a half-smile. “Welcome to my office. You know the rule, close the door.” He stood taller, nodding towards the entrance. The only way to keep his practice going was to keep some level of secrecy. Changing locations helped. But avoiding the obvious missteps was key. “So what’ll it be? Interested in something or just here for me?” Cainan asked, adding a cheeky wink.

adventurce:
Bullshit- she thought, but never said out loud.’ Stop the act, we both know it’s never lovely to see me when it’s your shoes I am after.’ the older girl however, forced a smile towards the other as if she was giving him a friendly advice. ‘ Hmm, are you sure about that? Because your nose seems to be twitching.’
“There’s no need to be so hostile, Victoire. I haven’t done anything to warrant your attitude. I’d hate for whatever unresolved issues you have to be impacting your impartiality as a prefect,” he drawled, not blinking as he met her gaze head-on. “I’m trying not to cry, that’s why. I’m just so worried.”

balthazarmackenett:
he had to hand it to him, his best friend could act when he wanted to. “such a shame,” balthazar said tsking his tongue. unlike valentino, he was not trying to act worried or upset someone was ‘missing’. when the younger man lowered his voice, bal looked over at him and shrugged some in agreement. “perhaps they are scared that it could happen to them next…which it could.” the older student said keeping his voice calm and low just so the other could hear him. “or maybe it’s just gossip…you know how girl are.”
Val was incredibly fortunate in some ways. At least Balthazar got it, and it helped that his friend wasn’t hard on the eyes either. Val got to indulge in all of his favourite vices at once. “Aw, poor things,” he drawled sarcastically, his eyes flickering back to the girls. “No, I don’t, thank god. I stay as far away as I can. They’re shrill. Also not fond of their bits. Girls were a mistake if you ask me. Except for my mama, she’s the best.”

kirsten-cahill:
Kirsten hadn’t eaten that morning, and had been unusually quiet since. She stood leaned against the wall at the top of the steps, gazing down at the courtyard as she mindlessly fiddled with the locket around her neck. Her eyes shifted over to Valentino at the sound of his voice, and she nodded a bit. “Yeah… I dunno. Signs point to probably not, and I don’t think that was a prank, it sounded too real.” A small pause, and she turned fully to Valentino. “Did you know him?”
Valentino pulled a distraught face, running a hand through his hair as he tilted his head up to look at the Hufflepuff. “But that’s terrible... what else could it be? You don’t think someone would’ve —” he lowered his voice dramatically and leaned closer to her. “— hurt him, would they?” At her question, he shook his head. Well, he’d certainly enjoyed hitting Ezekiel with jinxes from across the Great Hall, but knowing him was a stretch. “No, not really. I mean he was the year above us, so we didn’t interact much.”

with val’s fervent nodding, lucy almost broke character—she brought a hand up to her mouth, concealing her smile. she gave valentino’s hands another squeeze, “i have faith in him.” she gently pulled at val’s hand, nodding towards the unoccupied bench by the great lake. “would you like to sit over there?”
Valentino nodded, his mouth twitching at the emphasis she placed on faith. “That would be lovely.” He got to his feet and allowed her to lead him towards the bench, sitting down and then letting himself grin once they were more secluded.

Piper turned her attention to Valentino once he spoke, honestly spacing out just moments before. She felt herself getting jittery and on edge, her arms wrapped around herself. Almost longing for a sense of comfort. “God I really hope that he is. I wish…there were more answers about what happened.”
Valentino watched the girl, vaguely entertained by her genuine distress over the situation. Still, he was committed to the act. “Me too... It almost feels like the professors are hiding something from us,” he said slowly, chewing on his lip to add to the air of anxiety he was trying to portray.

balthazarmackenett:
balthzar couldn’t help but snort with an attempt to hide his laughter at his friend’s words. rolling his eyes his fingers itched for something to do and he longed for a cigarette, a habit he developed over the summer. instead he crossed his arms over his chest and lent against the wall watching the other students move to and from the courtyard all with hushed voices full of worry. “oh yeah of course,” he said with an eye roll, lips tugging up into a smirk. “poor poor ezekiel…”
The smirk on the older Slytherin’s face had Valentino almost breaking. But he was nothing, if not committed. “It’d be such a shame, if something befell him,” he continued. He watched in amusement as a group of Ravenclaws whispered to each other, holding hands and looking frankly more stressed than the situation warranted. He sighed loudly, and then lowered his voice. “Honestly, they’re acting like someone who actually matters disappeared.”

THE YOUNGEST POTTER WAS TRYING HER HARDEST NOT TO WORRY, always teetering on the edge of being too optimistic, a luxury that came from being so protected and shielded. “he probably just…had one too many pints in hogsmeade. i’m sure he’ll show up.” lily offered the other a small smile though she wasn’t sure if she was convincing him more or herself.
It was hard for Valentino not to let his act crack when he realized Lily Potter of all people had fallen for it. Instead, he amped up his performance. “Merlin, I hope so. It’s scary to imagine it as anything else,” he said, worrying his lip between his teeth as he watched her for her reaction.

adventurce:
‘ you little - connard.’ victoire mumbles under her breath as she walks up the stairs even faster to reach valentino, a frown as she stops right in front of him. ’ are you sure there’s nothing else you know about that? your tone seems maybe a little bit too interested for someone who wants to be pleaded as innocent for this matter. you know, dear, as head girl- you should know it’s as bad as lying to a teacher if you lie to me.’
Valentino had to work hard to not let any hints of amusement at her rage flicker across his face. “Weasley! Lovely to see you today,” he said smoothly, before he shook his head. “Of course not. If I did, I would’ve told McGonagall already,” he insisted. He pulled another angelic face. “I would never lie about something this serious. Certainly not to you.”

lucy’s lips lifted up in what she hoped was a convincing smile, squeezing valentino’s hands back comfortingly. “of course,” she cooed, cocking her head to the side. “you know zeke—he’s spunky and always up for an adventure.” a group of anxious-looking hufflepuffs casted quick, sympathetic glances in their direction. “you heard what professor mcgonagall said. it’s just a well-timed prank—nothing more.”
Val nodded, nearly falling off the step from the force of it as he clung to her hand, trying not to break at the worried looks of the students around them. “Yeah, you’re right. He always gets into some kind of trouble doesn’t he?” He murmurs, projecting fondness, but internally rolling his eyes. Idiot mudblood. “Yeah, you’re right. I’m overreacting, Luce,” he said, dramatically reaching up with his free hand to wipe at non-existent tears on his face. “I’m sure things will work out soon.”
