Event that defines characters past:

This is probably a moment that defines a lot of dark urge characters –the moment when their urges first start manifesting. For Hemlock, it started out with sneaking out of their childhood home at night, killing and eating the small critters around the cottage. They felt guilty about it, but couldn't seem to shake their cravings for blood. It came to a head one night, when they woke up from a sweet, blood-soaked dream and found themself in their mother's bed, elbow-deep in her guts. Something broke inside them then, all traces of empathy lost, as she became nothing more than a sacrifice, a blessed gift to nourish their body. More death would inevitably follow.

Though they would never admit it, deep down, Hemlock knows they're broken. They want to be good, to take care of people, but Bhaal's shadow looming over them, their urges seizing their body, and the expectations laid upon them at the temple have made them give up hope on all of that, instead embracing their Father's wishes with open arms.

How others view them:

Being born with an array of animal traits, as well as spending much of their adolescence before the temple alone in the woods, Hemlock appears, at times, more animal and monstrous than as a person. They know this, and leans fully into those characteristics, both because they find it funny to scare people with their inhuman behaviour, and because it makes it easier to detach themself from their humanity. Thus, the Hemlock that most people meet is, above all else, the scion of Bhaal; his ever-loyal, world-ending monster.

Meeting Gortash is a turning point in Hemlock's life –for better and for worse. A man who isn't afraid of them, a man who knows things about the world that Hemlock could hardly imagine, a genius, a fellow Chosen... suffice it to say that Hemlock falls fast, and they fall hard. And they hate it. He manages to ruin the carefully curated persona they've made for themself, treating them like a person... gasp. Unacceptable.

A major fight scene:

Hemlock is a ranger/rogue multiclass, and thus usually fights from afar. They have a very playful approach to fighting, making a game out of it for themself. Sometimes they'll even drop the high ground for a bit of excitement, but actually catching them is rarely ever possible.

In the end, Hemlock manages to shake off the shackles of their heritage, beginning their walk down the path to redeem themself for their actions. Guilt weighs heavy on their heart, but they have hope that, with the help of their friends (and maybe saving a certain banite and trying to redeem him too) they may be able to truly, finally, feel at peace.

thinking about emotionally stunted, deeply repressed durgetash where gortash finds himself increasingly hopelessly falling in love with his favorite assassin, but he can't say it- he's never known the phrase "i love you" as anything other than manipulation, or a cudgel swung and aimed to hurt, he can't say the words, even as they fester in his heart- so he takes to his artificing tools to distract himself, only to find himself making little trinkets and jewelry that he thinks would suit the dark urge, things he thinks they'd like- elaborate hairpins that double as shivs, rings with hidden compartments for storing poisons, even just simple, straightforward jewelry that would compliment the assassin's looks

and he realizes with a sinking sensation in his stomach that he is down bad for this bhaalspawn

From what I've seen of the fandom, I think we've collectively decided that Gort's claws being sharp would be incredibly stupid and impractical, and also that they definitely are. Great work guys
