This is the official blog for the 2025 TGCF fan event, “Yin Yu Appreciation Week!” The official date is July 6th-12th, and lasts 7 days. I will only host the event on Tumblr and will create a collection for AO3. You are welcome to post your own works on other platforms, but I am one person with a full-time job and can’t promise to run this event on Twitter too (also I have a personal gripe with Twitter anyway—don’t ask)

I think what I like so much about Hualian’s love is their profound respect for each other. They never try to change one another. They respect each other’s autonomy, choices, and conception of morality. The only time Hua Cheng ever tries to oppose Xie Lian is when he thinks Xie Lian is about to harm himself.

And that is just so precious and important.

they never could make me hate jian yu because this angry little guy just wanted yin yu to succeed and he knew yy was being way too soft on qyz. his little prank wasn't the smartest idea but i think after all he had to witness since qyz joined the sect, it's understandable he lost his mind.

honestly, just from those few lines we get of this character, there is so much to be read from. and he stuck with yin yu always! even when their palace lost followers and all the other middle court officials quit. he was still there. this guy cared so much but he was also so (rightfully) angry.

he watched yin yu let himself get trampled over again and again, he watched yin yu enable quan yizhen's problematic behavior... of course jian yu would snap at some point! of course yin yu would snap at some point!

while yin yu was the calm, gentle-mannered god who would always nod and say "yes", jian yu was the loud and petty opposite who would speak his mind.

i love these two and i am aware they are just side characters, so of course there isn't more lore or content on them but i wish there was </3
