It's really exciting and funny to know that manga porco is just: knitted eyebrows, internal demonic cursing, cold, hands shoved in pockets, sarcastic, does he even smiles?? Sort of character, who barely interacts with anyone except pieck and occasionally throws shade at Reiner. Like look:

Just realized Red Swan is about Eren, Ymir, and the Rumbling.

The most beautiful, soft song on the soundtrack yet is about the most horrific arc in the story.

I think one of the things I find the most fascinating and honestly lowkey brilliant about Levi’s character design is just the fact that he’s a bucket of contradictory tropes.

He’s the strongest humam in the series, and yet he’s one of the smallest beating only Petra and Historia in height, and looks deceptively thin (though not a stick by any means) for his weight. The way he dresses, his hobbies, and exacting standards paint the picture of a proper 19th century English gentleman, and yet he is crass and informal and a thug from the slums of their society not at all afraid to do the dirty work. He is lauded as a hero and praised for his strength and yet despite that is not boastful, in fact seems to greatly dislike the attention, and constantly defers to others he trusts. He has a flat affect, is naturally antisocial and socially awkward, and tries to avoid forming emotional bonds with others, and yet he is probably one of the most emotional and compassionate characters in the series who just can’t stop himself from getting attached.

When I look at Levi’s character, I can’t just point to one trope or archetype and say he fills it. And that right there is the beauty of his character design and what makes him feel so human, not simply like a character created to fill a specific role. The contradiction gives him depth, creates interest, makes him stand out from other characters in other works of fiction who fill any one of the major roles he does. He feels real in a way that characters don’t always feel. And it’s just another thing I love about Isayama’s character writing.

Hi @commandererwin ! Thank you for your curiosity. I totally appreciate your asking 😢 I admit that it’s a really rare pair, odd to most people even but the reasons why I think they’re a really interesting pairing are :

1) Apart from being total gorgeous hotties, they’re both physically strong people. Total muscle couple and I could see them being at par with each other during physical drills. They both could go all out, even beyond 100% and the other would be physically capable to take/receive the force. Shadis would’ve tasked them to lead the physical trainings from time to time. Their fitness regime would be in-sync with each other. I could see them having mad respect for each other and secretly admire the other person’s prowess and skill.;

2) He’s an extrovert that compliments her introvert personality yet they both have their inner demons to deal with and could somehow understand that about each other. He’s a ray of sunshine that could enlighten her melancholic personality. Yet their dominant personalities, although might be clashing at first, eventually would lead them to respect the other’s perspective. Reiner and Mikasa would take turns to take a back seat while letting the other leads as long as they do not let their egos take over;

3) He’s a caring keeper, a natural leader and a provider. Everyone looks up to him. Would’ve made a good family man if the circumstances were different. He somewhat reminded me of Mikasa’s father, no matter how shortlived he was. I could see her admiring that side of him.

4) He’s a Leo and she’s an Aquarius. They are actually very physically and sensually compatible with each other & could potentially be an unstoppable force if they were to fight for the same side. Mikasa hides her emotions most of the time and has troubles expressing how she feels yet Reiner’s warm, emotional nature could melt her coldness away. 5) I honestly perceive that they both had a deep connection through Eren. Eren looks up to Reiner as a big brother and that could somehow tick Mikasa off at first. But after a while, they had come to an understanding that they both cared for Eren and she respects that. If they were to cross paths after the timeskip and somewhat miraculously survived to have normal lives (but it’s snk, nothing is normal xD), their mentoring roles could be reversed. I could see Gabi, Reiner’s cousin, looking up towards Mikasa as a sister/maternal figure in return;

6) Reiner didn’t have good parental figures in his life whilst Mikasa grew up with positive and warm parenting but lost them in a tragic manner. They could potentially be deeply connected as they seek and fill that lonely, missing void with each other. They both are individuals who wanted to make their family proud and protected.

Those are the few reasons I could compose in a writing for now 😄 I hope it sheds some light to the ReiKasa ship 😆

mikasa in ch 133

not gonna lie, mikasa collapsing with utter grief over eren willingly proposing the option of them ending his life is absolutely gutting. it’s so painful to see her crumble like that. this is what she’s been fighting to avoid since the very beginning, more so when carla asked her to promise that she would always protect eren. and she’s letting her down.

look at her. she’s not just losing him in this. she’s losing all notion she’s had of safety, of family, and all that introduced her to what she holds dear now, including her comrades and armin. he showed her the prevailing beauty of the world when she’d lost all notion of it after witnessing her parents’ murder, a world that could still be good and soft to her. and now eren is relentlessly destroying that very world he held her to, the very life he’d breathed back into her.

this…. this hurts so much.

so it's finally here

this is probably my new favorite chapter. mostly because the moment i've been anticipating for finally happened:

they understand one another.

no one's hating who. no one's accusing who. they're all lost, depressed, and confused. and they finally understand one another. even Eren.

Eren never took away their freedom because he understands them. He understands their resolve and he would never be able to live with the guilt if he took their freedom away from them. They're special to him, after all. (i also love how Reiner's the one who understands him the most. great character development from Isayama once again).

The whole chapter was sad (as always). and really, the last option left now is to fight. what a fucking sad solution but still a very beautiful one. neither stepped down in their convictions and they chose to dedicate their hearts in the end. i wonder how all of this is going to end. again, PROPS TO YAMS FOR MAKING AOT ABSOLUTELY UNPREDICTABLE.

I give up on theorizing and speculating every single detail in AoT. i just want to witness and experience this crazy (and fucking depressing) adventure. i mean, the sudden transition from the emo plane shit to them being transported to the paths had me walking around the room for 3 minutes.....................

btw, it's the "You, Bertholdt, Annie... It must have hurt" for me :'))))))))))))
