You choked back a sob, biting your lip and sniffling an ungodly amount of snot. Salty tears dripped down your shaking face as you sat hunched over the school toilet seat. You thought you could hold it together, pretend everything was okay, but that was proving so much more difficult than you thought.
The truth was, you were afraid. You were so goddamn scared and you had no idea who you could talk to about it. You hadn’t lived in Hawkins for very long and barely knew anyone at the school, and you had never felt so alone in your life.
The first few weeks at school were scary, as you expected them to be, but soon after, you met Robin. There was no force on this earth that could’ve possibly prevented you from falling head over heels in love. She was quiet and kept to herself, and she also somehow managed to be herself. Unapologetically and totally, well, totally Robin.
Tentative moves and tender looks eventually led to the most magical first kiss imaginable. Robin became your girlfriend after being glued to your hip for a number of weeks, the two of you never running out of things to discuss. You truly had never been happier.
However, despite the comfort and joy Robin brought you, you still struggled with loneliness. You didn’t really speak to anyone else at the school, and you certainly couldn’t talk to anyone about you and Robin. You wished more than anything that you had a group of friends you could gossip with; sleepovers for you to recount dreamy kisses and dates, all of you squealing whilst you spare the most intimate of details. But, you didn’t have that. Yes, you had Robin and she filled your little world with so much brightness and love, but without her you felt so alone.
Everything had become a bit too much at school, too. Your work was piling up and your body was seeing the effects of this as well as your mind. You couldn’t think straight, and you felt sick constantly. You’d never felt tiredness like this before, pushing yourself to spend hours of every day revising and writing so you didn’t have to face the feeling of being alone, and yet you still slipped behind on your assignments which made you feel even worse.
You struggled in silence, thinking no one could see, that no one would notice.
But Robin saw straight through you.
You picked yourself up from the toilet seat and straightened out your clothes. Listening for a few moments before opening the door, you strode towards the mirrors, quickly fixing up your smeared mascara. You blew your nose and the show was on; 5 deep breaths later and you were back out in the bustling school corridor as the bell rang signalling the end of the day.
Robin was working that evening, so you went straight home to spend hours gruelling over your textbooks. She rang just before you went to sleep.
“How was your shift?” you asked her.
“Actually, it was pretty funny!” You could hear Robin beaming as she launched into a story from that evening, telling you all about how a woman had a go at Steve for renting her an “adult movie”, saying he tricked her into getting it, despite her asking for that specific title.
You smiled for the first time that day, sighing in relief at the comfort your girlfriends voice brought you. You asked more short questions to hear more stories from her, trying to divert the questions she asked you.
“How’s your essay going?” she asked.
You paused, clearing your throat. “It’s, you know, it’s going. I’ve still got a lot more to do on it.”
“You think you’ll be able to find some time to come bowling this weekend?” she pleaded.
You let out a shaky breath. “I don’t know, Robs...”
The truth was, you were scared. You were scared of failing and everything you’ve written being awful, no matter how many hours you spend rewriting it.
“You’re allowed to take breaks, you know?” she soothed.
“I know, I know...”
“You deserve to have fun. You’ve worked so hard, angel,” she whispered.
You felt tears threaten to escape. Despite the countless hours you’d already put in, you still felt you hadn’t worked hard enough to deserve a few hours fun with your girlfriend.
“What are you doing tonight?” she asked you.
“Probably just going over my notes from today’s le-“
“Oh, lovely, you don’t need to do all that. You’ll make yourself ill.”
But nothing she could say would change your mind, despite the fact that she was right.
That night you lay in bed feeling sorry for yourself, the physical effects of the day catching up to you. You ached from your head to your toes, the thudding of a headache creeping in as you slipped into a weary sleep.
The next morning, you awoke to blinding brightness from your window. Your head thudded violently as you scrunched your eyes shut. Instead of feeling rested from your sleep, all of your worries came instantly washing back over you. The stress had certainly taken its toll on your body physically. You were sick, and you were so tired. You tried to get up and ready, but the room swayed from side to side. You attempted to brush your teeth, but it hurt to even lift your arm. Frustrated cries led to weary sobs as you eventually dragged yourself back to bed. No matter what you tried, you knew you wouldn’t make it into school that day.
Some time later, you wake up to the phone ringing. You don’t even remember falling asleep.
“Hello?” your groggy voice answers.
“What’s wrong?” Robin immediately shoots back.
You smile at the sound of her voice, temporarily soothing the pain.
“I’m okay,” you told her.
Despite her scolding tone, you could hear the smile in Robin’s voice when she replied, “Liar.”
You chuckled slightly and then took a deep breath, the pain searing across the left hand side of your head.
“Ill be over in 15. Don’t do anything stupid.” And with that, she hung up.
You don’t know how much time passed between then and Robin entering your room, but the faint noises of your mum letting her in wafted up the stairs as you slipped in and out of sleep.
The sheer embarrassment and delirium soon led to tears cascading down your face, to which Robin was by your side in an instant.
She stumbled across to your bedside, your gorgeous whirlwind of a girlfriend. Gentle face and clumsy limbs clambering over your piles of books to land beside your weeping eyes.
Robin cupped your face gently, softly, your eyes blinking away the tears. “Hey, hey, shh, it’s okay,” Robin whispered. But her words only made you cry more. The safety and warmth of her voice causing you to finally let go of all the feelings you’d been holding back for weeks. You choked out a sob, sniffling snot and salty tears. Robin continued to gently stroke your face, whispering kind words. I’m here.
You looked her in the eyes and became filled with nothing but love. The kindness she radiates could warm you on any frozen day. She helped you mirror her breaths, deep and slowly, as her touch and words guided you towards a calm. You both simply gazed at each other, a comfortable silence washing over the room as your breathing gradually slowed.
Once your sniffles and sobs had stilled for a moment, Robin gently rose from the position she was crouched in. You eyed her closely, exhausted in every way imaginable, as she clambered over your weak body to lay beside you in bed. You felt a smile creep across your lips, a small hint of happiness amongst the puffy eyes and red cheeks. She leant over and draped her arm across your stomach, pulling your back close to her chest. You could feel the gentle drum of her heartbeat and instantly relaxed. She ran soothing fingers around your tummy and arms, occasionally kissing the back of your head, and humming to a random song. You listened closely to the sounds she made for a few moments, completely forgetting about the worries you had before as you tried to work out what song it was.
In the calm, you decided to speak. “I’m really tired, Robs.”
“I know. I’m sorry I didn’t do anything sooner, cause I knew something was up” Robin rambled, “but I didn’t wanna be too pushy with you, with how you kept saying you were okay n stuff. You just sounded so... broken, on the phone. I had to come over and check on you, I hope you don’t mind your mum letting me in-“
“I love you, Robin,” you whispered, cutting her off.
She froze, still not used to hearing you say that. No matter how many times you told her, her tummy was still filled with butterflies.
Slowly, you rolled over to face Robin, your eyes mere inches apart from each other.
“You don’t have to talk about it now, like I’m happy to just hold you until you fall asleep, cause it kinda looks like you need it to be honest, but I want you to know you can talk to me.” Robin rushed through her words as if she’d rehearsed them before, not thinking as they rapidly rolled off her tongue.
She brought her hand up to cup your cheek once more, her fingers gently dancing over your features.
“I’ll do anything for you,” she whispered.
You smiled, genuinely, and raised your hand to cup her cheek too. You both giggled slightly at this, sighing as you gazed into each others eyes.
She continued, “Including sneaking your favourite movie from the shelf at work so we can have a movie night-“
Your eyes lit up before you crashed your lips into hers, the two of you tangling your fingers in each others hair.
Pulling away, Robin sighed happily before warning, “But now, I think you should probably sleep.”
You faux pouted, but Robin could see the emerging smile in your eyes as she pulled you closer to her, stroking your hair gently and kissing the top of your head.
The exhaustion, and now relief, quickly set in once again as you cuddled your wonderful girlfriend. When you felt better, you knew you'd talk everything through and she'd make you feel better about it all, finding solutions for everything. But right then, her touch was enough. She made you feel whole and safe, protected from the world within her arms. The sleep you began to drift into now was not one of stress or fear, but a slumber of comfort and love. As your eyelids began to flutter close, you were vaguely aware of Robin’s loving movements. She held you tight and whispered words of adoration and safety, kissing the top of your head and trailing patterns across your back. It was as you fell asleep, in that bed with the girl you loved more than anything in the world, you knew that everything was going to be okay.

EDDIE MUNSON X READER
Digital Download Blurb - “Moments I knew I’d fallen for you”
(Gender Neutral Reader!!!)
Tumblr media
"You and Eddie have been dating for a few months now, and things are going amazing. You’ve known who he was for a while and simply admired him from afar, but once he began to notice your band badges and nerdy books, he fell for you in an instant. You both bonded super quickly, chatting about music and movies and aliens and everything else imaginable. You’re both so close and have already supported each other through some hard times. He’s your rock, and you are his. You couldn’t live without each other. Eddie needs you to remember that, and he needs you to know just how much he loves you. So, one quiet night alone when all he can think about is you, he decides to write you this letter, recounting some of the times he knew he’s fallen so deeply in love with you, because he needs you to know that you are his world and you deserve to feel loved."
Here’s the letter!
A/N: This 3-page letter is now available to download from my etsy! Took me ages to pick a handwriting font that felt just like him, then I spent ages going through and changing the sizes of individual letters to make it look more like how he’d stress words. Phew. This one took a lot of work but I’m super happy with it - I hope you enjoy being showered with love by your boyfriend ;)

Tumblr media
You awoke to various comforting drums; the gentle rhythm of Robins heart and the pattering of the rain against the window. You scrunched up your eyes, trying to adjust yourself to the darkness that swamped Robins room. Sleepiness clung onto you tightly as you attempted to get your bearings in the room. Then you realised where you were, and the sleepy feeling was quickly replaced with the flutters of a thousand giggling butterflies.
Your head was resting against Robin’s chest, and you could faintly hear her breaths above your head. Her arms were lazily draped around your torso, the depths of sleep relaxing her typically tense muscles. You squinted in the darkness and adjusted your head to lay beside Robin’s. You were inches apart and you couldn’t help but notice, even in such a low light, how unbelievably peaceful she was. Robin was typically quite nervous, always talking to fill the silences with a sort of jittery, on edge touch about her. On this night, though, she was completely still. You’d come to see glimpses of the real Robin recently, in the late night talks and nervous fleeting touches, but never had you seen her look like this. You were completely enamoured by her; hair splayed effortlessly in directions that shouldn’t be pretty but my god she was just that and so much more.
Earlier’s conversation came back in distant waves. She’d asked you to stay and you began to worry that Robin may not have really wanted you there. Perhaps she just pitied you or was too awkward to ask you to go. And yet, you remembered the words floating into your brain as you drifted into deep slumber.
“I like you too”
Despite all doubts in your body, no four words had ever sounded truer, regardless of your sleep filled state at the time. You believed them, you thought, and the safety you felt in that moment enveloped in the safety of Robin’s arms, you knew it was right. Nothing anyone could say would convince you otherwise.
You smiled, bright and cheery amongst the gloomy night. The rain continued to patter down, the light trickles of raindrops the only sounds you could hear.
The few times you’d stayed over before had included attempts from the both of you to remain strictly platonic. You slept on a makeshift bed on the floor, and one time even stayed in the spare room. However, you always somehow managed to come up with some sort of excuse, and you’d wake each time to find yourself closer than you were before. Since this was a rather spontaneous decision, you hoped Robin wouldn’t regret this intentional sleeping arrangement in the morning, although you could’ve sworn you could see the hint of a smile upon her sleeping lips.
Your thoughts swarmed your brain, and you suddenly became all too aware of the quiet in the room. There was one sound you wanted to hear more than anything in that moment, so you reached your hand up to cup Robin’s face in an attempt to wake her gently.
You stroked your thumb over her cheek, earning a hum in response. You smiled, admiring the freckles dotted across her nose that you were able to see more clearly now your eyes had time to adjust. “Hey, Robs,” you whispered. She hummed again, causing you to giggle. You patted her gently, then shook her shoulders. You noticed her frown slightly, but she just looked so damn adorable. Deciding to let her rest instead, you began to whisper to her and fill the silence yourself.
“You’re really special to me, Robin Buckley,” you whispered. “I knew you would be from the day I met you. You mean more to me than you’ll ever know.”
Robin hummed and you but your lip, both willing her to wake up and terrified she might and hear what you were saying. You tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and began trailing your fingertips gently across her face, admiring all her features. It took you a second to realise she was waking up.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer,” she muttered groggily.
You laughed. “Well, I don’t plan on moving any time soon,” you whispered back.
Robin smiled sleepily and bit her lip. “Are you busy tomorrow?” she asked. You shook your head in response, so she smiled and said, “Good, cause you’re staying with me.”
“Haven’t you got work tomorrow?” you chuckled.
“Oh… Shit yeah…” You continued stroking her hair as she carried on talking. “I still want you with me though, we’ll figure something out.” She rubbed her eyes and yawned as you looked on in utter awe and admiration.
“You make me feel so fizzy,” Robin whispered, eyelids heavy with sleep. She wrapped her arms tightly around your body, nuzzling into your touch before freezing suddenly. She was very awake now.
“You okay?” you asked.
Robin blinked back at you and rubbed her eyes again. “Am I dreaming?” she asked.
You chuckled again, “No, Robs. You’re awake.”
“Holy shit,” she whispered.
“What is it-“
“Are you okay?” she asked.
You were taken aback by this question, too stunned to respond. She continued, “I mean, is this okay? We’re cuddling, like, you’re cuddling me, and like, I’m totally cool with this by the way I just wanted to make sure I hadn’t accidentally trapped you here, and I just wanted to check that I’m not picking up the signals wrong here cause I swear you’ve been talking to me and saying nice stuff but also I’ve been half asleep so I don’t know-“
“Robin,” you interrupted. She froze, unsure of what you’d say next. “Can I kiss you?”
She gulped before nodding enthusiastically, whispering a hoarse “Yes please.”
She cupped your face between her hands as yours came to rest in her hair. All uncertainty vanished in a flash as she leaned in and connected your lips together. It was soft and gentle, slow and filled with more meaning than you believed any kiss could hold. It was desperate and longing and filled with so many feelings. Her lips tasted of popcorn, and you smiled into the kiss as she did too, eventually pulling away to breathe. Your foreheads touched and you both broke out into full beaming smiles. You couldn’t help yourself but move back in for another few small pecks, the two of you giggling in between. She held your face between her hands with such care and you felt at complete peace, filled with bliss.
She pecked at your nose, then your cheek, then began peppering all over your face with tiny little kisses as the two of you giggled, your bodies filled with pure love. When you final came to rest beside each other again, fingers trailing across cheeks and lips, hands tangled in hair, you both stared into each other’s eyes. Your eyelids were heavy with sleep, but you had never felt so awake. Part of you wanted to stay awake for as long as you could, kiss Robin for as long as you could and never let go. But, something in you knew that you were going to wake up in the morning by her side, and you’d kiss her again. You’d hold her hand another day, kiss her many times more, and have these sleepy cuddles again and again.

ROBIN BUCKLEY X READER
Digital Download Blurb - "Confessions on a receipt"
Tumblr media
A/N: I designed this super cool family video receipt and wrote a letter from Robin confessing her crush on you which is up on my Etsy now, here is the little blurb of it and it would mean the world to me if you fancied getting one :') also pls pls pls if you have any requests for robin fics then PLS drop me an ask I would love to write more for her on here eek ok anyway here is the blurb
You visited Family Video most days and quickly acquired a huge crush on Robin. You could listen to her talk for hours and always found an excuse to ask her questions. You’ve been trying to drop hints that you fancy her for a while now, but she seems completely oblivious, despite you knowing she’s into girls. So, you finally do it. You give her your number, and you hint as blatantly obvious as you possibly can that you would like to go on a date with her. Robin then accidentally ruins the note with your number on and has to contact you in a rather embarrasing manner - in the notes of a Family Video receipt sent to your home, reminding you of your rental’s due date back. Robin finally finds herself brave enough to ask you on a date in spite of the attitudes towards gay women that she fears. This is the receipt with the letter she sends you.

“Sleepy Cuddles” - Robin x Reader (Part 1/2)
Robin Buckley x F!Reader Oneshot
Masterlist
Word Count: 1.8k
Summary: You’re at your best friend Robin’s house once again to watch a movie together, and this time you feel brave (and sleepy) enough to get a little closer.
Warnings: None
A/N: Please lmk if you want a part two of this it’s just giving me such cosy vibes aahhhhh :D I love Robin so much I am begging to do more character letters from her on etsy if you’re interested in that
Read Part 2 here!
Tumblr media
You stayed at Robin’s house most days. It was never really a planned thing, you just sort of ended up there. You'd be talking and walking in your own little world together and then you’d realise the destination you both stumbled upon, absentmindedly wandering upstairs to her room together as you did each day before. It was nice for you both, as you each enjoyed each others company more than the average friend should, but you were both worried to admit your feelings aloud. So, these sort of incidental hang outs were convenient, as you could both enjoy spending time with one another without having to brave the proposals and suggestions of arranging things to do together. Things just came naturally with the two of you; you were glued together at the hip and you didn't even have to try.
Each night you became closer and closer, both as friends and physically. Robin would talk for hours and you'd learn so much about her life and interests. In all honesty, you had no idea how she still had stories left to tell. You'd open up to her about all sorts of things that were on your mind and she’d listen with such an attention she could not direct anywhere else. She did however struggle to keep eye contact with you as her eyes wandered down to your lips as you spoke.
Then comes the physical closeness. Initially, your small crushes on each other acted as barriers to which you ensured a certain amount of distance was retained at all times. You left little spaces between the two of you when you first sat down on her bed, but then you spent more time together and grew to be more than comfortable. You hardly notice a leg sprawled across your lap, a head leaning on your shoulder. Your lives were so intertwined that your nerves were pushed aside, your instinctual desire to be close overriding the fear.
You end up in this position every day; practically cuddled together watching a movie. This time, Gremlins. Robin had gasped earlier at the first signs of snow, and you couldn’t help but indulge in her excitement, suggesting a Christmas film. She squealed and jumped around before grinning and talking about Phoebe Cates and how much she wanted her very own Gismo. You bickered about the impracticalities of a gremlin all the way home, clinging onto each other’s arm to steady yourself on the slippery ground.
You looked to Robin as you walked arm in arm. She was your best friend and you loved her. You couldn’t help but think how gorgeous she looked in that moment; bright red nose and cheeks from the cold, wrapped up warm in a woolly hat and scarf. Her teeth chattered and she certainly would not let you go a minute without being reminded of the fact she was cold. You just wanted to get into the warm with her and cuddle, but you knew you couldn’t outright ask for that. So, you prayed to the gods and all above that the universe would do you this favour.
Finally in the warm, you sat on her bed whilst she set up the video. You thought about how you were sat, planning how you could get as close as possible to her without it being weird. Maybe you could do the whole yawn and put your arm around her trick, but was that too obvious? You didn’t want her to think anything romantic was going on, even though you wish it was, but at the same time, maybe you should. I mean, you heard the way she spoke about Phoebe Cates, you'd just never really considered the fact that Robin could like girls too. The fact that she could like you.
You were snapped out of your thoughts by a dip in the bed as Robin sat down beside you. She smiled at you brightly before asking, “Are you still cold?” You nodded, and she began to smile wider. “Okay, hang on.”
Robin sprang up from the bed in an instant, immediately on her hands and knees rummaging underneath the bed. You began to laugh, “Robin, what are you doing?”
When she emerged, she was holding a huge knitted blanket. “I've had this since I was 2, it's kinda coming apart but I wanted to show you some of the patches,” she smiled shyly. Robin then preceded to take you on a tour of her patchwork blanket with you both sat beneath it. As she spoke, your bodies grew closer like two lonely magnets. You didn't know when it had happened, but a noise from the film brought you back to your senses and you noticed how you were sat. Both of your legs were intertwined and you were resting your head on Robin’s shoulder. Holy fuck. You were so close you could practically feel her heart beating, and boy oh boy was it beating fast.
Robin adjusted slightly, wriggling further down the bed to be almost laying down. Her eyes were glued to the screen and you felt a sudden wave of bravery over one you. You were so comfortable and she was so perfect, you just wanted a tiny bit more. To be just inches closer you would do anything, and so you began to slowly inch your hand towards hers. At first, your fingers just grazed against her palm, to which you thought Robin barely even noticed, but then she began to move too. Whether she was aware of this or not, seemingly absentmindedly she began to play with your fingers. Running the tips of her own around your palm like ice skaters in the snow, tracing the outline of each finger as if memorising the curve of each joint, all the while her eyes remained glued to the screen, Gremlins still playing in the background.
You could no longer concentrate on the film. Your heart was pumping in your chest, bound to explode any moment. This could still just be a friendly thing, right? I’m sure all girls must lay under a blanket with their friend every day whilst watching a movie and practically holding hands... Right?
You turned your attention to Robin’s body, as you could feel her breathing quicken. Tilting your head up to meet her eyes, you saw beneath the blush and bitten lip and it hit you right there.
Oh.
Robin Buckley did not think this was just a friendly thing either, and you couldn’t be happier. You began to smile, there was no point hiding it. She looked nervous, trying so hard not to look at you from fear of fucking up or misreading the situation entirely.
“Robin?” You began with a smile.
“Hm?” she asked, her gaze not faltering.
You giggled slightly, adoring the way her eyes flitted around the scene before you, concealing the thousands of thoughts she usually splurged out, but for now was holding back. In all honestly, you’d fallen head over heels with Robin, and she had with you, too. You wanted nothing more than to kiss her and be close with her as you were now for as long as she’d let you.
“Hey, look at me,” you spoke softly.
She turned to you with wide eyes, seemingly afraid. You smiled brightly, reassuring her. “Are you, uh, is everything...” Robin’s words trailed off as you intertwined your fingers firmly with hers.
“Oh,” Robin whispered. You giggled at this. She looked so cute, the low light of the screen flickering over the soft features of her face. “You’re holding my hand.”
“Yeah, I am,” you giggled, “is this okay?”
Robin was nodding before you’d even finished speaking. “Mhm, yeah, yeah, totally. Totally cool, I mean, it’s okay, I’m alright with it, yeah...” A silence stretched between the two of you for a few moments, but you felt Robin’s muscles stiffen under your touch, still leaning into her body as you lay beside each other, hand in hand. She began again, “I mean only if you are, of course, I don’t wanna make you feel weird or anything.”
“Robin, I was the one who started holding your hand, of course I’m okay,” you laughed.
“Oh... Oh yeah,” Robin bit her lip. You weren’t quite sure who broke first, but soon after you had both succumbed to fits of laughter. Neither of you really knew what was funny, but you were simultaneously just so comfy and so overwhelmed with giddiness that you couldn’t help it. As the giggling subsided, you simply cuddled into her further, nuzzling your neck into her shoulder. Her lips were close to your forehead so she barely even had to whisper for you to hear her. Robin spoke so quietly, so unsure of herself in spite of her usual chatty self.
“Can I put my arm around you?” she whispered softly. You tilted your head upwards to meet her gaze once again before lifting your neck for her arm to slide under. You hummed in satisfaction.
“You’re comfy,” you murmured. The warmth from Robin’s body against yours, along with the steady, albeit fast beating of her heart, were lulling you into a comforting state of sleepiness.
Robin was stuck for words, butterflies exploding from her stomach and swarming every inch of her body. “I like this,” she whispered into your hair.
You hummed again. “Me too.” You were struggling to keep your eyes open now.
“Do you... maybe, do you wanna stay?” She murmered. “Like, stay the night? You don’t have to, of course, I can drive you home if you’d like. You just look...” She paused, unsure of her next words, before your thumb began stroking across the back of her hand and all of a sudden, she felt the bravest she had ever felt before. “You look really pretty, and like, peaceful...” She trailed off, watching as you offered a sleepy smile.
“That sounds nice.” You nuzzled further into her neck. “You’re really pretty too.”
Robin brushed off her blushing with an awkward laugh. “Shut up, you’re not even looking at me, dingus” She spoke softly despite the teasing.
Your words were laced with sleep, “Yeah but you’re always pretty, Robs.”
“I am?” she asked.
“Yeah, you’re real pretty.” You had your eyes closed now, but you could picture her face perfectly. Eyes wide and lips parted, frantically searching for the words to say and overthinking every possible option so as not to fuck it all up. “I really like you... Like this...” you whispered.
And as you drifted off into the safest, warmest and most comfortable sleep of your life, Robin whispered into your hair, “I like you too,” with the widest, goofiest smile imaginable. After a few minutes of her laying completely still, ensuring you were completely asleep and she wasn’t going to disturb you, Robin closed her eyes and smiled before drifting off with you in her arms.

Robin liked to doodle. No matter who you were, it was hard to miss. Her teachers had given up on the notes they'd leave in her books, countless little messages of "Please don't draw in the margins" and "Keep your page clean, Buckley." But, no matter how much they reminded her or how much she tried to avoid it, it was a habit. Almost as if it were ingrained into the very muscles of her hands, they simply ran away with her pen as she drifted off into space.
She found it calming, you found this out pretty quickly into dating. You found you could get away with holding each other's hands in public as most people presumed you were just friends, so whenever you felt brave enough, you'd glance at her hands and take the chance. Obviously not before noticing the endless doodles scrawled across cold fingers and palms, to which you'd later admire and inspect.
It became a routine, whenever the two of you would cuddle. You'd lift her hand to you lips and place gentle kisses as she'd take you on a guided tour of the little world on her hand she'd created that day. You loved listening to her talk and all the tangents she'd go down would make you smile beyond what you ever thought possible.
One day, when she'd ran out of her canvas, arms littered with hearts and scribbles and words, she shyly asked if she could draw on your hand. You were both sat at the back of your class together and it had been a very busy day, so you figured she just needed to let of some steam. Robin visibly relaxed after a few minutes of doodling little hearts and words only the two of you would understand. Little hints to memories and jokes you've shared within the privacy of your secret connection. Sometimes she'd ask for your hand, but sometimes she'd just take it absentmindedly, you barely noticing as you carried on with what you were doing. It became very familiar to you both, and you treasured the little memories of her you kept on your skin whenever she had to go home.
You made a point of keeping a pen on you at all times. Whenever Robin would get jittery, you'd offer it to her along with your hand. She didn't quite know how to tell you the amount that meant, but you both knew. In the looks you gave each other and the smiles you shared, and most importantly, in the doodles on your hands.
