The internet could change next week, and not in a good way

You may have heard about the efforts in Europe to reform copyright law. The debate has been ongoing in the European Parliament for months. If approved next week, these new regulations would require us to automatically filter and block content that you upload without meaningful consideration of your right to free expression. 

We respect the copyrights and trademarks of others, and we take all reports seriously to ensure that your creative expression is protected. We make this clear in our Community Guidelines. There’s already a legal framework that works and is fair: Today we take down posts and media that contain allegedly infringing content when we receive a valid DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown request. We also provide clear-cut ways for people to fight back if they believe their removed content was not a true violation. These instances are monitored and reported and live in our biannual transparency report. 

The suggestion to use automated filters for issues of copyright is short-sighted at best and harmful at worst. Automated filters are unable to determine whether a use should be considered “fair use” under the law and are unable to determine whether a use is authorized by a license agreement. They are unable to distinguish legitimate parody, satire, or even your own personal pictures that could be matched with similar photographs that have been protected by someone else. We don’t believe that technology should replace human judgment. Tumblr is and always has been a place for creative expression, and these new regulations would only make it harder for you to express yourself with the freedom and clarity you do so now.

So… MY FIRST BOOK IS OFFICIALLY OUT!

It is a collection of Christmas short stories and it is now available as a paperback and Kindle ebook on Amazon!

I want to thank the whole CS fandom for basically inspiring this thing.

Many people seemed to enjoy Tis The Season and said it brightened their holidays and I really wanted to create something that could do that for everyone. Some of the stories from Tis The Season have been reworked and included in this book (including the first two chapters of New Tales From the Old Forest). If you liked that collection - I sincerely hope you’ll give this original version o’mine a try or maybe gift it to someone else. If you didn’t - you can still give it a shot, I’ve added a few more obscure and darker pieces which I hope bring in some nice variety as well. :))

If you get one for yourself and/or as a present for someone - I cannot possibly express what that would mean to me… please, do let me know!

Meet the hunky Irish actor tipped to be the new Superman

People Magazine may have just pronounced Idris Elba as 2018’s Sexiest Man Alive but we’ve got an award of our own to dish out to Irish actor Colin O’Donoghue… who is equally easy on the eye!

Best known for playing Hook in the Netfllix series Once Upon A Time, Colin is one-to-watch as he’s tipped to step into some very big boots very soon.

The relatively under the radar actor (to us Irish folk, funnily enough) has been tipping away filming in Vancouver for the past 6 years but he could soon become the name on everyone’s lips as it’s rumoured he could be replacing Henry Cavill as the new Superman!

Although when EVOKE.IE grilled him at the National Lottery Good Causes Awards, the Louth man could neither confirm or deny the rumours, responding with a cheeky grin and a glint in his eye.

‘… that’s a dot dot dot,’ he said ambiguously, as he revealed he is currently working on a ‘top secret new show’ that sees him deviate from the role of Captain Killian ‘Hook’ Jones which spring boarded him to global fame.

Once Upon A Time is currently going strong on it’s 7th series but you might also recognise Colin from his role in the Anthony Hopkins exorcism thriller, The Rite, in which he plays a sceptical priest.

From priest to a pirate to a superhero… it’s all in a days work for the Drogheda man!

And his talents don’t stop there as the actor hinted he is taking a leaf out of Amy Huberman’s book working on a screenplay of his own.

‘I might be developing some stuff at the moment,’ he said, ‘although that’s all I can say about it!’

‘I’d love to work in Ireland again, it’s just been the way fortune has fallen that I’ve been abroad but I’d love to work here.’

‘Ireland is home and it always will be.’

True love is not easy, but it must be fought for. Because once you find it, it can never be replaced.

I am definitely feeling nostalgic these days. I decided to take a look at my drafts, and here’s what I found, from Jul 20th, 2013:

Here's the thing. 

As a CSer, I do believe that Emma's greatest love isn't Neal. I'm not a Neal hater, I kinda like him, even though I loathe what he did to Emma and the way he's been patronizing her. 

And I do believe that Hook is Emma's true love. We know that Henry is her True Love, but we're not talking about the same kind of love here. The notion of True Love on the show is very complex and, above all, blurry. To keep it short, I'd say that I believe Hook will be the love of her life, the one who will change everything. To be honest, that's what I am hoping for. The pirate with the shining hook who will put down her walls and heal her heart, the one who will make her believe in love again. And it'll work the other way around. 

I believe that her love for Neal can be replaced, and that Killian's love for Milah can be replaced too. 

So I guess we can say... We CSers definitely had a clue.

It’s just so comforting and funny to see how right we’ve been, all along, to believe in their love. True ships never lie, you just spot them right away and they never disappoint.
