Thanks to the amazing Dylan, I actually have something to wear to the Opera tonight. Anyone else planning on going?
Dylan does amazing work. I have a couple of pieces of his that are not strictly work related, so I suppose I’ll pull one of those out for tonight.

The tylenol I can do, the chablis, however, would have to come at another time. I don’t readily carry wine in my workout bag. I’ll have to bring that by another day, if it comes to that, of course.
A bottle of chablis, unlike some other things, is worth waiting for. I don’t mind.
Did you get many taking you up on your offer?

With a small head bounce, Savanna nodded, “I mean, I suppose it is. I can’t say I forgot, considering I walk most places so I know the weather, I just wasn’t thinking about it. Too far into my own thoughts.” She explained, a soft laughter escaping her as she scratched the back of her head awkwardly. Silence fell between the pair after Li told her about the webinar that she had been listening to, which honestly, sounded more interesting than listening to her own thoughts betraying her in her head. “I was going to head home in a li..” she started to say but paused as her phone vibrated lightly in her lap. Turning it over, a name flashed on the screen along with a preview of what the message said. It brought a small smile to her face. A response to a text that had been sent at the beginning of her walk. “I’m usually better about dressing for the weather, I promise. I’ll try to be better about being aware,” It was the best that she could do.
“If anything you’re just proving my point. You should know better, as someone who walks everywhere,” Li pointed out. “You really should attempt to think about it more. Although I suppose it’s a good thing you’re only walking this distracted.” Li noticed the way the woman checked her phone and the sudden smile that flitted across her face. A drastic change to her demeanor. Li raised an eyebrow, because she was sure the doctors that worked at the hospital heard similar platitudes on the regular. “It’s your skin or your health in this case,” Li remarked as she reached for her ear bud and slipped it back in her ear since it was obvious Savanna wasn’t going to actually follow her advice and go home or get something to dress a little warmer. “Have a good day.”

Don’t worry, I can handle a few newbies. Your concern is noted, Li, thank you. I’ll make sure to send tylenol for the headache if anyone is in need of medical attention.
I’m going to hold you to that Eric. Tylenol for the headache and a nice chablis for the stress after would be more than welcome.

Savanna stared off into the distance, falling deep into her thoughts, trying to sort them and compartmentalize as she always did but for some reason, something kept her from doing it this time. As if her own mind had set up a mental blockade. A soft laugh escaped the female as the voice drew her back into reality, swiping at her cheeks quickly, realizing she must have been crying. “Oh, I didn’t forget,” Vanna began, wrapping her arms around her with a soft smile, “It just wasn’t something I thought about when I started my walk.” Clearing her throat, she adjusted how she was sitting to face the woman, biting on her lower lip slowly as she thought of something to say. “Listening to anything exciting?” It was as good a stab at small talk as she could. As long as it got off her and her decision to wear a dress during this weather. Especially because she knew where the conversation would travel to - to the fact she had looked like she had been crying then to why she was crying. It was a downward spiral of a conversation that she didn’t intend on getting into at the moment. She had chosen this spot because she was hoping that no one else would come out this way.
Li tilted her head. “Isn’t that the very definition of forgetting, is not thinking about something?” She pulled one of the ear buds out of her ears. “Just a webinar I missed over lunch. Nothing too thrilling. But necessary.” To Li it looked like the other woman had been crying. And that made her uncomfortable. She wasn’t an emphatic person. A big reason for her not following in her parents foot steps and settling for administrative work within the hospital. Another was that on the rare occasion that Li herself got emotional, she hated if it was in public and she went to great lengths to ensure that was very, very rare. “You should probably head home, head inside, or at least dress a little warmer, so you don’t get sick.”

Yeah I’m in the same boat there. Don’t do crowds, not a fan of people. But I’m hearing good things so I guess I’ll follow your lead and head there too. Maybe I’ll see you there.
Oh, then I guess we have something in common. What have you heard? Mhm, perhaps you will.

Out of anywhere in America, this is where I end up, again. I can’t seem to stay away, despite best efforts. It can’t be worst than the last place I blew through. However, looks like I arrived just in time for a circus, interesting.
Perhaps there is a lesson you need to learn here. The whole, those that don’t learn from their mistakes repeat them, idea.

What is someone to do on their day off? Do a little bo staff workout. If anyone would like to join, or if you’d like to learn, I’d be more than happy to help. I’ve seen some new faces showing up in town, and it appears more and more of them are showing up on social media. This is my welcome message. I’m Eric. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know.
Please do be careful teaching that to other people. I can feel a headache coming on already with the thoughts of a bunch of people ending up in the ER over mishaps with one of those bo staffs.

Anybody been over to that circus? I know it has been here for a bit but I may be looking to catch it before it packs up. Is it worth heading over or would I not be missing much?
I can’t say that I’ve had the time. Or the willingness after long days at the hospital to go and be surrounded by people. This introvert needs her alone time at the end of the day. But, I probably should go check it out too before it packs up. To say I did.

I just cannot believe it is almost May, time has just been flying by. That means we are officially only about two months out from this year’s Pre-K graduation at Smile Time. I have lots to plan and put together but I look forward to it every year. I am still considering themes for this year though so if anyone has any suggestions, please do let me know.
Is it too young to ask them that age old question of what they want to be when they grow up and theme it after future occupations? I wanted to be a veterinarian as a child. I thought it would satisfy my parents desire for me to go into medicine like them, even though tiny Li didn’t think she wanted to be a doctor.

Sometimes, the best things to do, to clear the air is to be in the clear air. The air was still cool, but Savanna found comfort in the chill. Between the gossip blogs and everything else going on in her head, a walk was what she needed. Granted, someone smarter would have worn something more than a dress, but it was a tad bit too late to be concerned about that. After a while, she took a seat at a bench and just stared off into space. The only time her attention was broken, was at the sound of rustling behind her. Turning her face into her shoulder, she didn’t bother checking to see who it was before she spoke, “Hey.” Savanna figured, eventually, they would come into view.
Running was something Li didn’t particularly enjoy but she did it anyway. She did it because it was a solitary activity that allowed her to still increase her heartrate and work up a bit of a sweat. It wasn’t like she wasn’t on her feet enough while she was on the job, but that was a brisk power walk at best and it didn’t really give her the recommended heart rate acceleration. She was listening to a copy of a webinar she’d taken over lunch. Unfortunately an emergency in admitting had interrupted both the webinar and her lunch, so here Li was listening to it now while she ran. She spotted a figure on the bench and slowed her pace, pressing pause on her phone in her arm band.
“You’re going to risk exposure if you stay out too long like that,” Li chided. “People forget how quickly the weather can change around here this time of the year. Especially if the winds pick up or the sun disappears.”

Character Name: Angelica ‘Li’ Renee Martin Faceclaim: Tamara Taylor Character age: 45 Gender identity & sexuality: Cis female, bisexual Birthday: April 10th, 1975 Character profession: Hospital Administrator Snowbury General Hospital Extra Skills: Plays the piano and the cello, sings a little bit Hobbies:(see above, plus reading, has two cats. Romeo and Juliet) Personality traits: + Dedicated, Loyal, Organized || - Brash, Compulsive, Analytical
tw:adoption under the cut
Angelica grew up in Snowbury. Her parents were both doctors and she grew up inside the hospital. It was expected that she would follow in her parents footsteps but Li was never quiet sure. In an effort to get her out of the hospital, her parents gave her music lessons, first the piano and then the cello. And while she is good at both, and has a decent singing voice, music didn’t interest her other than a form of stress release.
In her senior year of high school, Angelica participated in an exchange program and left Snowbury for Boston. While in Boston, Li got caught up with a bit of the wrong crowd. After a party one night early during her stay, Li discovered she was pregnant. She begged the school not to tell her parents or send her home, promising she could handle it all. She was assigned a special chaperone for the remainder of her trip and true to her word, thanks to her determination, Angelica finished the program, graduating with honors. Just before returning to Snowbury, Angelica gave her baby up for adoption. Given her age, and that she never wanted her parents to find out, the adoption was a closed one.
After what had happened in Boston, Angelica opted to go to school much closer to home. She never bothered much with ‘the season’ as a young woman because she was afraid getting too close to anyone would force her to reveal her secret. And while Angelica surprised her parents, and frankly many around her, by not going into medicine, and getting a health care administration degree instead. It wasn’t long before Angelica returned to Snowbury full time, and began working her way up at Snowbury General.
Angelica’s parents have retired to Arizona and they rarely visit Snowbury anymore. Angelica visits them as often as she can, but she is dedicated to her work, obsessive about how things should be done, and constantly looking to improve things. This dedication serves another purpose, not giving Angelica much time to revel in her loneliness or think about the child she gave up. Angelica has been a somewhat regular client of Coryanne’s over the years. Between hospital events, fundraisers, staff weddings, retirements, etc, and sometimes just when Angelica feels the need for company, she turns to the other woman and her expertise.
