Sora and Rook/Xehanort meet for the first time! …It goes horribly

The group is in the Dark World, with Anti Aqua who falls to darkness following an argument with Xehanort that triggers her trauma with the other version of him. Bragi/Luxu calls upon the best available help upon finding her when he realizes they need a team for this.

Sora and Riku are both essentially dragged down into the Dark World following this call, and see the group with Aqua. Aqua darts off, and Bragi goes after her. Sora and Riku, seeing Xehanort, identify him as the source of the issue and go for him first in the hopes that defeating him will release the hold Darkness has on her.

Xehanort and Eraqus are utterly confused over suddenly being attacked, and it leads into a very confused all out fight between the two pairs.

Needless to say when Bragi returns he is VERY PISSED

Xehanort/Rook doesn’t always know what to make of Sora and even though he’s accepted he’s not the child of destiny he’s still a little jealous…

Kingdom hearts has a LOT to say about religion and how different ways of following it can lead to different things and we do not talk about how deliberate it is. Really, “book of prophecies”? The 358th day of the year is Christmas Eve? Seven deadly sins being the names of the foretellers? Yeah. Yeah. It is on purpose and boy is what they tell us LOUD.

Eraqus and Xehanort’s stories serve as a powerful reminder of how extreme ideologies can lead to corruption. Eraqus’s unwavering devotion to light and Xehanort’s embrace of darkness both resulted in flawed paths.

Eraqus EXEMPLIFIES the term “Love is blind”

In a timeline where Xehanort is a prickly, stubborn, and hardheaded, but otherwise an upstanding guy? That can turn out okay for him. He’s able to love Xehanort as he is, warts and all. Willing to tolerate him enough to work through conflicts.

…But in the other timeline, which parallels canon a little more. Well, it ends in a merciless demise fueled by Eraqus offering too much trust. Aqua knows all too well what Xehanort is capable of. She wants to remind Eraqus so badly, but he refuses to see Xehanort differently. The stuff Xehanort did in the other timeline doesn’t reflect on the character of the one in his own. He will stand by that claim.
