I feel like the reason certain dog-lovers insist cats are evil is because they read their body language as if they were dogs. So here’s a very basic guide to common “mean” things cats do that actually aren’t mean at all if you know what they’re thinking.

Rolling and exposing belly- attacks you when touched Does not mean: Give belly rubs! - haha I tricked you!  Actually means: I’m playful! If you reach for my belly I’ll grab your arm and bite it because I think we’re playfighting! 

Lazily exposing belly - still attacks when touched Does not mean: tricked you again! Actually means: I’m showing you my belly because I trust you. Please don’t break that trust by invading my personal space. I might accept a belly rub if I’m not ticklish and I know you well. Snapping at you while being pet Does not mean: I suddenly decided I dislike you! Actually means: You’re petting me in a way that gives me too much restless energy. Please focus on petting my head and shoulders instead of stroking the full length of my back next time.

Is in the same room but makes no attempt to interact Does not mean:  I’m ignoring you Actually means: We’re hanging out! I’m being respectful by giving you space while still enjoying your company. Slapping/scratching your hand when you try to pet them Does not mean: I hate you! Actually means: You’ve failed to establish that we’re not playing, or the way you’re approaching me scares me. Be calmer, speak more gently, make eye-contact and blink slowly at me before you try again.

we need to invent a spray tan-style treatment but instead of spraying you with tanning stuff it sprays you with heavy duty spf. and it lasts a few weeks so that way you can just get your spf spray a few times a summer instead of having to spend 10 minutes every day getting sticky and oily and making sure the sunscreen is all rubbed in. how do i get on shark tank

Anyone remember that Haka that Te Pati Māori (the Māori party) did in protest of the racist treaty principle bill? The one that went viral?

Well the privileges committee who are tasked with in looking into incidents in parliment and punishing MPs as they see fit gave punishments to 3 te pati Māori MPs, suspending them from parliment without pay. Maipi-Clarke is to be suspended for 1 week, and Ngarewa-Packer and Waititi for 3 weeks.

This is the longest suspension in New Zealand history. It was voted in by a 5 vote majority and 4 vote minority out of the 9 people on the privileges committee.

Judith Collins, a white women famously known for saying she can't be racist because "my husband is Samoan, talofa lava", called the Te Pati Māori MPs actions uncivilized.

Which is racist as fuck as haka is civilized per tikanga (Māori cultural customs and practices) aka she is just calling Māori practices and culture uncivilized

And it gets worse! Judith Collins also said the severity of the punishment is partly because they didn't show up to the privileges committee hearing. Which is fucked as they are NOT required to attend it, so should not have been penalized for not going.

And now the government is debating if the punishment was just. There was a 20m debate today which has been put on hold for 2 weeks as the budget is to be read on Thursday and Chris bishop conceded to letting them attend that but they will still be suspended from voting on the budget.

This government literally fucking sucks.
