May is for Fence Painting / Staining
When it comes to fence painting and staining, May is a great month to paint the fence. This is because you want to give your fence a facelift before the gardening beings or flowers starts to bloom. For fence, a solid or semi transparent stain a great choice to apply the product. This is because the product gets soaked into the wood better as compared to paint. If your fence is fairly new and you have not applied any product on it yet, you can keep the natural look to the fence by applying a semi transparent stain, there are numerous colour choices for this such as natural tone, cedar tone, redwood tone etc and you must apply the product with a brush, because you need to even the product and push it in the grooves of the wood. If you like a solid colour, then you can apply a solid stain on it with a brush and roll technique. If your fence is old and have been previously stained or painted then you can apply a solid stain or paint on it. Remember, to scrape and scuff sand all peeling and failing areas first, and if you put paint then all bare wood needs to be primed first, therefore its better to put a good quality solid stain since you don’t have to prime because stain gets absorbed by bare wood. A great product for this job is Flood Pro CWF semi transparent stain from Dulux paints or SuperDeck and or Flood Pro Solid stain from Sherwin Williams and Dulux paints respectively.
