Sorry for the inactivity! for anyone starting school soon/recently how has it been? I had an embarrassing moment last monday but i love my Wednesday afternoon class. We have a presentation in november and yeah its far away but im not worried about it at all. last semester, i almost dropped my english class because we had 3 in-class essays. Interesting.
Kylene, I agree that you can totally think about medication, but it does take a long time to start working so you can work on immediate remedies. i have been needing to get into meditation and stress relievers, which may work for you. i am on meds and i dont know exactly how much they help to be honest? but i definitely feel something if i forget a dosage. So keep that in mind because meds wont cure anything, just might take the edge off some things. (I am not trying to PROMOTE anything, especially if you're against it, but weed has helped me with my social anxiety, short-term which i try to bring the mindset back when i am sober, like remind myself that it is okay or i did x when i was high, nothing bad happened, so i can be more outgoing when i am sober)

Oops, I just saw this idk when you posted it bc I'm mobile so I'm sorry if it was a really long time ago. Kylene, medication may help and it's definitely something to consider, but it isn't a fix-all. My doctor prescribed me anti anxiety medication, and I only took it for about a week before I decided it wasn't right for me. I would recommend trying something like rescue remedy that you can get over the counter first because it does help and there's not as many side effects. :) How is everyone else doing? This group has been quite inactive lately.

Hey, guys! I need your opinion's on this because I can't seem to stop thinking about it lately and all of you are the only ones who can properly answer this. Plus, maybe some of you have thought about this also.
I've been talking with my parents about my social anxiety, how it's holding me back. I expressed to them that I want to take medication for it, but they tell me that I shouldn't use medication to help me, that I can do it by myself. And I completely understand this, but I can't bring myself to.
Does anybody think medication for my anxiety is a good idea? Or do you think that it wouldn't help much?

People actually took an interest in my idea, so here it is!
Every Wednesday for the entire day, I will be answering all of your questions on relationships, sex, mental wellness, pregnancy, parenthood, and anything else you need help with. I have a lot of first hand experience on these issues and more, so every answer will be honest and straight from my personal experiences. I have found that many young people have trouble seeking guidance about these topics because they fear judgement or just feel plain awkward and uncomfortable talking about them. This will be a safe, judgement-free place where you will be able to ask your questions, anonymously or not, so you can become more educated about yourself or the decisions you may be faced with. You can submit your questions here and all of my answers will be tagged with #askemilywednesday so you will be able to find them all there.

Laura - thats great that you had a good time!! I'm the same on the whole making friends front; its gets lonely when you realise you class very little people as friends, i tend to push people away bc i feel like people dont like me so i terminate the relationship before its even started
Chloe - Well done! Baby step are great because you gain the confidence to do more after a while :)
okay an update (under the cut bc rambling)
my family and i are going to our first family therapy session tomorrow and i can tell its going to be brutal. I already have so much anxiety because theres going to be people in the room with us that i've never met before and saying personal things in front of them will be hard. I fell like this whole thing is going to be thrown back in my face bc it was my idea to do family therapy ugh home life sucks right now sorry. Do you ever get really sad about your life? like this is what you have to go through and theres people out making memories and having a great time and your stuck in your head? I dont understand how people can go through life without getting super sad about the way the world is ..sorry this was longer than expected

so i went to my moms church yesterday and i havent gone in over two years with a couple exceptions. i didnt have a lot of anxiety but it was moreso exhaustion because it is very draining and 3 hours long xD so im proud of that. I didnt talk or anything but baby steps! :D
so i havent been getting out much, but a group member of mine from school just called me on the phone. i like her a lot so its not like 'stranger' or awkward, and im also proud of myself because after we hung up i realized that i didnt get anxiety :) mini update i hope everyone is doing well!

Holly, that's really great, it's normal you're proud of yourself -we all are :)
I've returned from the summer school thing about journalism and at first it was really hard for me to talk to the rest of people, the first day I was literally shaking and trembling but somehow I managed to calm down. Then I met this girl, who I first thought she was just shy, but she was really nasty D: Anyway, I've talked to everyone and althought I didn't make friends (i need a lot of emotional bond with a person to consider them a friend) I had fun and the other students were generally pretty cool.
I've put a huge, enormous goal for next year, because if I want to be a journalist I need to be really social with people (which I'm not). In 2015 I must make 10-20 new friends. It's sad I have to think about it as a task but I know if I can do it, this career is for me.
Btw, I don't have kik but I have whatsapp :)
