I.. no.

Maybe envious, but not ever… jealous.

I mean, everyone on the team is so talented! Each of them have a thing, you know?

Hannah can predict plays really well, and that works really well with Terrance! Like- most of the time I don’t even know what’s happening! Haha!

Terrance knows like.. all the plays and can even tell us which one can counterpoint the opposing team’s! It’s really impressive, I can’t even remember all of them!

Tom is pretty fast, and can come in to save the day, like he did at championships, and his long arms has a longer range! I’m all clumsy, and I can’t clutch like he does!

Luciana apparently had pinkeye, and couldn’t see, but she used her other senses to navigate and even hit the ball! Ha! I can’t even hit the ball with my eyes open! I can hit the ball with an eye though!

Junn is strong! The bat weighs nothing to him, have you seen him hit the ball? Aside from the weird bursts of strength I think, I have noodle arms!

Taylor, ohmigosh, she is SO COOL! She makes sure that everyone is hydrating properly, that we all have snacks, she’s kinda the big sister of the dugout? But don’t tell her I said that! Sometimes I forget to drink and eat? I’m really focused on the game!

Borna tries really hard! It’s just that some people see him at the wrong times! He’s good at the game! I try really hard as well and! I’m..

Yuwen is reallly good at pitching! He outs a lot of people, and yeah! Sometimes he really does carry the team, though, I don’t think Rochelle would like if he would hear about me boosting his ego…? So don’t tell him! I do understand the glint in his eye when it’s his turn to pitch.. I like pitching too. But like! Ha! He’s the best! We don’t need another pitcher!

Rochelle! 💚 She is one of the best catchers out there! Her and Yuwen work really well together, contrary to what most people believe! She’s so levelheaded, but quick witted too! When players seem to get too rowdy with us, she does her best to make them back off! I wish I was as strong enough as her to protect us too. I mostly shy behind someone.

Kai, she’s so amazing! 🧡 She’s definitely the star player, her and my dad are like— the perfect duo! She’s so good at softball, my dad even takes her recommendations when we’re having a rough game! Everything her and Rochelle do is so flawless.. I wish I was a MVP like her, me and my dad would be unstoppable! But she’s so cool too, I don’t think I could reach that coolness. 😎

You get what I mean, right? Everyone else on the Pickles team is great! I envy aspire to be like them!

She settled in so naturally, it would be hard to believe if you were told the three only got together recently.

They fit together, like they were made for each other; puzzle pieces fitting in one solution.

As she leaned back, she let go of Kai’s hand to grab hold of Rochelle’s shoulder, she leaned in close and kissed the girl at least threeeeee times on the back of the neck before sighing into the couch’s cushions. A dopey smile on her face.

Again, by the burden of being human, oxygen was essential.

Kai was taken by surprise, and Laurie had practically SPRINTED to get to her; so it wasn’t shocking that both girls needed to breathe.

Out of breath, Laurie was laughing, maybe a little hysterical from the dopamine— but all she could think about was how she did it.

It seemed like her girlfriends liked that part of her.

She doesn’t know when it started.. either when Rosh found her being blue at the playground— Ricky said something REALLY mean to her during tag..

And Rosh found her in the play tunnel.

She had a small, Barbie, bandaid in her little shorts, and she sat in front of Laurie’s balled up self.

She put the little bandage on the scrape of Laurie’s knee, asking who made her cry, because she knows little Laur wouldn’t cry because of a little scrape— much less because of a BOY.

Her little fists bumped together, a determined look on her face.

Rochelle always had her back.

And Laurie always tried to have hers.

She didn’t WANT to see Ricky after he said that one-thing-that-she-doesn’t-remember-right-now.. but she wanted to make sure Rosh would be okay..

And— Ricky, she was kinda worried for Ricky too. Okay, maybe only worried for Ricky…

But she stood behind the brave girl in front, and made sure things would be okay, that they could still play together, that Ricky wouldn’t be shut out because of a slip-up.

But she remembers before they had gotten out of that play tunnel, Rochelle had coaxed her out of the shell she was in with touch.

A hand to her dirty cheek, Laurie remembered snapping back to the present, seeing her best friend in front of her, and thinking that: “If Rochelle is here, everything will be okay.”

She hasn’t stopped thinking that since then.

Her grip tightens around Rosh a little more.

She loves her.

She sets it on the tile besides them, and her arms and legs began to close up, hands finding their place on Rosh’s waist, and her back.

She’s seen in movies… cheesy ones, when the guy and gal would.. open their mouths and their tongue came out? But- ugh, no.. how would that even work? How would she bring that up to Rochelle?

They would need to break the kiss again, and she’d rather not.

And would that even feel good? Meh.. maybe when they are grown ups they can try…

But right now? It was just them again.. 💚

She lost the crocs in the crash, they are probably in the bush.. somewhere.

And then she SNAPS HER ARMS, CLOSING THEM WITH A ROSH INSIDE.

She pulls the two together, laughing even when they fall backwards, in their new position, sitting, with Laurie’s out and Rochelle’s inside the ‘C’, she began to pepper the back of her girlfriend’s neck and shoulder with kisses.
