Note: I didn’t draw the wings because they’re tucked right now behind her hair. It just didn’t fit the picture well, and… I kinda forgot at some point before ultimately deciding to just leave them out.

So this was my first time doing a really dynamic drawing like this using fire and… well, I won’t be hyper-critical of myself. Practice will make perfect, and honestly… I really like how this turned out.

The idea for this image was a 22-23-year-old Taranee Cook having to rescue the other girls from what was most definitely a trap. The Big Bad’s got them in a bad way, and somehow, blocked Taranee’s telepathic abilities, making it so they can’t communicate at all. Hay Lin’s scared, Irma’s snarking, Cornelia is knocked out, and Will -her lovely girlfriend- is MIA. It’s up to the best girl to put the Big Bad on notice: burn notice.

(Yes, I thought that was pretty funny.)

Regardless of how this may look down the line, I’m really proud of it. It turned out really well, and shows that I’ve got a lot of improvement under my belt. I get the feeling the girls of W.I.T.C.H. are going to be how I practice a lot of things over the next few months: they’re super familiar to me, and good for drawing practice.

Every day, I get better and better: I think I might practice a bit today around my freshly sprained wrist, or I might think about making fire. Perhaps a rest day is in order.

(For me, not Taranee: she should really get busy rescuing the girls!… again.)
