it drives me bonkers the way people don't know how to read classic books in context anymore. i just read a review of the picture of dorian gray that said "it pains me that the homosexual subtext is just that, a subtext, rather than a fully explored part of the narrative." and now i fully want to put my head through a table. first of all, we are so lucky in the 21st century to have an entire category of books that are able to loudly and lovingly declare their queerness that we've become blind to the idea that queerness can exist in a different language than our contemporary mode of communication. second it IS a fully explored part of the narrative! dorian gray IS a textually queer story, even removed from the context of its writing. it's the story of toxic queer relationships and attraction and dangerous scandals and the intertwining of late 19th century "uranianism" and misogyny. second of all, i'm sorry that oscar wilde didn't include 15k words of graphic gay sex with ao3-style tags in his 1890 novel that was literally used to convict him of indecent behaviour. get well soon, i guess...
every time an f1 driver has described nico rosberg as beautiful (aka he had that whole grid questioning to the point they had to call him the hottest female pop star Britney to cope)

Can we talk about that Prowler reveal? About the return of the infamous Prowler theme as this skinny, lanky shape sits perched atop a ceiling beam (in the exact same position as the Prowler in the first film) before dropping to the ground. The close-up shot of the Jordans as he approaches Miles. The untied shoelaces. The spray-painted symbol. The theme's sudden change in pitch sounds like screams. You can tell who lies underneath the mask long before it slides off. The real shock doesn't come from learning who he is, but from seeing what he's become.
āitās just trendy to hate on marvelā no. marvel has done this to themselves. they overwork underpaid and non unionized vfx artists, they donāt allow actors to have access to the full scripts, they gloat about continuity but donāt have consistency, very few of the writers care even slightly about the characters or the source material, and they have gone for quantity over quality / are overproducing their product to the point of consumer exhaust. they are a multi billion dollar creative monopoly that should be held accountable
Ever wonder how many records in history are wrong? How many confessions have been changed to protect someone? How many people have actually been lost in a war ? People who were wrongly accused of a crime ? How much our our history textbooks is fact ?
My last rant about black widow: all these fans complaining that the villain in this movie was weak and they didn't care about him enough when he died...I think that the mf point. The man was abducting, abusing, killing, mind controlling, and conditioning girls and women in what is supposed to be an allegory to the horrors of human trafficking. He's not meant to be the star of the show, he's exactly what he needs to be: a cockroach that's hard to kill because they always are. You don't need to care about him, there is nothing redeemable. Sometimes people are evil and that's it. If you felt nothing when he died, good. You should feel nothing except vindication for the girls whose lives he's stolen. Not everyone is a Killmonger or a Thanos or a Vulture. Sometimes bad guys are part of a system or institution, which means they're clinical and sterile because that's what you get out of monsters that "recycle" stolen girls.
Not to be one of those people, but now I completely understand why some male reviewers were saying they didnāt connect with the quieter, character scenes of Black Widow. Iāve heard guys say they thought those moments fell flat or just didnāt impact them.
Of course they donāt understand the bond of sisters. The unspoken understanding women have with each other. Even women who have never met before.
They donāt understand being the most expendable resource of the world.

I talk about this book nonstop on here and I wanted to share some art I made! I was feeling creative and decided to bring some of my favorite moments of the book to life. Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston never fails to put a smile on my face and today I wanted to share something I love.
This was so much fun to create. Iāve never really done anything like this before (I even dabbled in animation for the first time?! The quality went down a bit once I converted it to a video and uploaded it here but itās my first try so go easy on me!) I hope someone loves this as much as I do...from the note, to the text messages (the Great Turkey Calamity is so funny), to the endless emails, and of course, to ironic road signs and pieces of home. Just felt like sharing some love and happiness today. Happy Valentineās Day
P.S. yes I drew Henryās ring with the Hufflepuff house crest fight me
Also, I uploaded this to my Instagram earlier (@/mich.ellaneous). You donāt have to check it out or follow me. I really donāt care about that but I thought Iād mention it in case yāall see it posted there...no worries itās me! lol wishing everyone all the best!
I love how in Willow MV when Taylor enters the glass cage, sheās content to sing and play and itās only when she realises that she canāt escape to be with her lover that she panics. Combining that with the fishbowl scene from the Lover MV, her lover decides to join her in the glass cage and sheās happy again in this essay I will-
