I know absolutely nothing abt Sacred Stones but I am applying anyways for the position of FE girlie. May I scream at you about the sillies

actually anon, you're right on time cause I've been having Thoughts™️ about fire emblem: sacred stones and i will use your ask to unleash them to the void lmao

so, for the uninitiated in fire emblem, the game fire emblem: the sacred stones is the 8th game in the series, for the nintendo gameboy so it's old as fuck and it owns my entire heart and soul lmao

now i could talk for ages about specific characters and plot points, but after drawing this comic yesterday:

I've been having so many feelings and thoughts about lyon, the character with purple hair in the comic

you see, the plot happens because of lyon. he is the crown prince of the kingdom of grado, best friend to the game's protags, the royal twins ephraim & eirika from the neighboring kingdom of renais

lyon is a soft spoken, shy, smart and booknerd character, he dwells in dark magic and ends up having a premonition, he sees his kingdom, completely destroyed, thousands of his people killed, thanks to a huge earthquake

he is determined to find a way to save his people and his kingdom, and long story short, via his going too deep into dark magic and using the sacred stones wrong he is possessed by a demon who clings to his desperation to save his kingdom

possessed!lyon gets into necromancy, he revives his diseased father, he invades his allies, he kills the neighboring rulers, he summons monsters

and the more the plot goes on, the less lyon there is until by the end of the game there is no lyon left, just a body used by someone else

and dude this game is just...so good, cause in the end, eirika and ephraim eventually defeat lyon— or what little remains of him— they kill their best friend for the greater good

and yet, this game is brutal, cause even though lyon gave up everything and he became a puppet to a demon king to save his people and his kingdom from utter destruction....

the earthquake happens anyway

and people die anyway and his country is destroyed anyway

literally everything he did was for nothing

the most doomed character ever

my bestie's @31-radical tags in my comic also hit hard cause like

i originally had the idea that the takedown lyrics were from the twins' perspective, like them trying to convince themselves that lyon was no more so it'd be easier to kill him

but alex's tags...

OOOUGH if my memory serves me right, lyon kinda holds on and there is a lil bit of himself left right before the final battle, after you kill his body the real demon comes out

but the idea that what remains of him agrees, that he doesn't deserve to live, to please end it all....he went too far, he cannot go on like this anymore

after all, a demon with no feelings doesn't deserve to live, it's so obvious....

I was babbling to a friend about how elements of Louis's design can be found echoed in the healer line archetype design, and how cool that was to figure out even as early as the first dungeon that his archetype line was supposed to tragically be healer, when they got me with "um, his true archetype is whore"

Louis is so funny. We respect whores in this house, we just don't respect Louis.

(joking aside I do think it's really cool that archetype magic gives us armor but blasts all his clothes clean off. Of course it does. What else could it possibly do.
