It’s so bizarre to me how u can meet someone and they change ur life forever. like u can bump into someone at a party and then wound up married years later. all because you bumped into them. you can meet someone and view life completely differently because they changed ur perspective. you can learn so much about yourself through the people you surround yourself with and those people can uncover new versions of you and you don’t even realise how different you are until you reflect on all the patterns and habits you’ve shed. we affect each other so beautifully. i am grateful to be existing at the same time as all of you. i hope the next person you bump into helps shape your life in a beautiful, magical way. and i hope you remain open to all of the possibilities life has to offer you because you never know where your next decision could take you.

The best book I’ve read so far this year is Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar.
When poets write novels I always get very excited because they enter into their contract with words in a different way to other writers, with a certain level of distrust of language’s abilities, with an understanding of the disappointing paradox in metaphors, and with a playful abandon for convention.
This book is a great example of all of those things. It tore me open so many times and put me back together again, too. It’s got everything — family, identity, death, nationality, history, death, art, politics, death, love, war, did I mention death, and dreams where the dead speak to cartoon characters

people are like why do you want to be pretty so badly like why is that an aspiration... and it's just because i was raised to believe i was worthless and treated horribly and under patriarchy they implant this little chip in your brain that's makes you think the easiest way to be valued is to be pretty. like that's it. that's really just it. my internal desire to be treated and to feel like a human comes out in wishing i was beautiful because i was taught that's all i could get
