I think we all agree Darrow, Sevro, Cassius, Aurae, Lyria, and Diomedes all became a little cozy, if a bit dysfunctional, family on the Archimedes.
Finally, the Red Rising saga has a built in source for happy fanfic AUs (a la coffee shop, flower shop etc). The Archi crew can get into shenanigans out in deep space and nothing bad ever happens to them ❤️

It's always so obvious who's going to be the love interest based on the description when the character is introduced.
Case in point:
The shining voice comes from a young man torn from Greek verse. Arrogance and beauty drip off of him. Impeccable breeding. I’ve never seen a smile so wide and white, skin so smooth and lustrous. He’s all I despise.
versus other people who won't be the romantic interest:
She’s beautiful—heart-shaped face, full lips, eyes that laugh at you.
... ah ups, my bad!

yeah bc cameron cole is kinda like. a really complex character to include in rq in the absence of race (as we understand it) and i think viewing her purely from the in-universe perspective without incorporating real-life understanding of socio-economical dynamics is suchhhhh a disservice bc no fantasy is written in a vacuum (or anything rly) they're all informed by society and experiences

You guys don't understand.
You really don't.
You don't understand the viseral yearning I have for a red rising TV show. The way Pierce writes, especially during the fight scenes, it literally feels like a TV show playing in my head.
Like, as much as I enjoy how cozy small this fandom is, I'll love to not feel like this:

When someone asks me what book I like lol. Like, I wish I could just turn on the TV and be like “here. Watch this, you'll see.”

The Percy Jackson series is a giant screw you from teens to adults who treat them like shit telling them to not question orders and do as they say without explanation or consent, I find it so important to have in 2024 and I'm genuinely happy that kids have this show

The scene was powerful in the book, but there was just something about watching reaper collect the bodies of the dead tributes in the arena. The way he removes the weapons from their hands, lays them out nicely, giving them the smallest bit of dignity in death. The contrast to the capitol gasping in shock as he pulls down the flag, not in rebellion, but in mourning. The way mourning in the hunger games IS an act of rebellion. “How are you going to punish me now?” The feed then immediately cutting to the news of the death of one capitol boy, whose death will be avenged upon those who had nothing to do with it. Only certain deaths are allowed to mean anything. God. Suzanne Collins knows what she’s doing.

This is— and I cannot express this enough— some of the most perfect “younger version” casting I have ever seen.

I feel like this needs to be said more but Percy Jackson isn’t oblivious he just has very low self esteem. Like he could tell Grover was the one who brought Thalia to camp, he could tell Annabeth and Luke had a history, he could tell Luke was angry at the gods the minute he started talking. Like you’re telling me someone who’s oblivious will be able to notice stuff like this?? The only time he’s oblivious is when he is involved. Of course he doesn’t think Annabeth likes him because what do you mean he’s likeable? Of course he doesn’t think he’s powerful cause he’s just percy. Like Percy is observant just as long as he isn’t involved in the observations.

Sorry, don’t mind me, just thinking about Lyria’s empathy, compassion, and genuine human decency that has carried the emotional heart for the sequel series for three books now.
Lyria “I will risk my life for this gold warrior I don’t know, even when everyone around me will sit on the sidelines in fear” of lagalos
Lyria “I don’t care if it sends me to prison for the rest of my life, I’ll turn myself over to a government that has basically abandoned me and my people if it helps save those kidnapped kids” of lagalos
Lyria “I don’t care if you don’t want my help, you’re in labor and I’m not going to leave you alone for it” of lagalos
Lyria “I’m going to save these girls I don’t know from sexual slavery even if it means putting myself in a position to be abused or killed” of lagalos
Lyria “if it’s a choice between being powerful and remaining myself I will choose to remain myself every time, without hesitation” of lagalos
Lyria “I just wanted to say I’m sorry about ulysses” of lagalos
Lyria “it doesn’t matter to me that you once killed the man who was trying to liberate my people, you’re here now and that’s what matters” of lagalos
Lyria “in the face of someone seconds away from ripping my heart out, I will choose to believe in her humanity and remind her who she is and who she is not” of lagalos
In conclusion:

Why are you such a big Lyria “simp” while also being a Darrow fan? Lyria was always rude to Darrow and somehow nice to other Golds. The only time she was nice to Darrow was at the end of Light bringer, and just because Cassius died.
Are you...for real? There is a negative emotion in this ask that has me concerned. Are you okay?
First of all, I don't need other characters to love Darrow so I can like them in exchange. It's sweet if they do, but I won't cry a river if they don't.
I know some 'stans' get really nasty towards characters that are mean to their faves. I have seen it first hand and it's really pathetic. My advice is to stop being weak. Your argument is disturbing; by this logic you cannot like the Howlers AND Cassius, because they were not nice to Cassius.
Second of all, you think Darrow actually cares when people are rude towards him? He knows who he is, he can take from the noise what is useful and move on from what is not. He has been villified, betrayed and spat on and he took it with grace. He respects Lyria's courage, loyalty and determination. He does not need her to like him at all. He just need her to understand and follow orders, which she did and then some.
Third of all, Lyria was interesting and likable way before she met Darrow or Cassius. Her relationships with the main cast aside, she is bringing her own thing to the story and that spark is actually crucial to the tetralogy.
Finally, even your definition of niceness is askewed. All she did to Darrow was to correct him about a version of events he was not privy to. That is all. She never went out of her way to know him, because he warned her not to stay in his way. Cassius and Aurae were the only ones open towards her, so she stood closer to them. How was she not nice to Darrow? How was she rude?
Even if she wasn't nice or if she openly disliked Darrow, I wouldn't hold that against her, not all of us have good taste. She's still compelling and interesting to follow.
This ask right here sounds a lot like some Virginia haters do, but somehow worse because they try to make a pity party for Darrow 'I would rather die than get sympathy' O'Lykos. And for rudeness? These takes may work with lesser characters and their fandoms, but Darrow? Oh, please. No memeber of the Church of Red God is allowed to be this ridiculous.
Alexandar is rotting on foreign, enemy land, unmourned and unburied and you think Lyria being a normal person is a problem for Darrow? Or, worse, for me? Read the room, buddy.

When Lyria was discovered on the Archi, Aurae took her to get cleaned up and told Cassius to get her some clean clothes. Cassius took forever to get those clothes. Lyria took a long shower since it was so nice. Then Aurae and her had a little chat as she took her to Pytha's room. And then Lyria still had longer to wait for Cassius to bring the clothes. What was he doing? We know he keeps a very tidy ship. He would certainly have kept up with the laundry, so it's not like he needed to run a load. I think I know what held him up. He tells Lyria that he made her a plate with the ham. I'm guessing he didn't just nuke some leftovers. He probably did some real cooking to give her a proper meal and a proper welcome onboard.

Do you ever have that moment of horror when you realise you’ve fallen down the rabbit hole of a ship and you’re like “oh fuck I know exactly what I will be doing at 3am for the next three months (or years)” or are you normal?
