in my heart of hearts the mythal in the crossroads is 6 feet tall, horned, decked out in armor fitting a self-appointed goddess borne from primordial war and a giant fuck-you dramatic feathered cape. it hurts to look at her directly. out of the corner of your eye you swear the shadow she casts is in the shape of a dragon. she's been stewing in resentment for so long the air just always smells like a wildfire and lightning strikes. ya'll remember the fucking puzzles in her temple? you wouldn't be able to just walk up to her and start talking to her, idc how long it's been since she's had petitioners.
if you want me to believe in the "like holding a piece of the sun" line you have to do better than the pajama-wearing default character creator template num 9 that we actually got.

the sanding down of the crows really does come to a head in A Murder Of Crows. like there is SUCH an interesting subtext to be infused if the traditionally abusive practices of the crows still held true that is just. completely absent otherwise.
illario becomes so much more interesting when you consider that Caterina and generations of Crows before them raised them like this. bloody interhouse civil wars for power are quite literally bred into this faction; abuse and torture in order to condition children into never turning against their masters, while at the the same time, the paranoia and distrust was the only way you ever ascended the ranks. what is illario if not a product of the old ways?
lucanis's ascension to First Talon is so much less interesting for the fact that we never really have any insight into Caterina's politicking amongst the Talons, of the inherent instability and bloodiness to this faction, never having any clear insight into how volatile any alliance between the houses has traditionally always been even with their Talons dead as of Tevinter Nights. is this a play for stability and power as much as it is a clear declaration of favouritism? how does lucanis's open possession affect this ascension?
how much more affective is a gesture of mercy - of still calling illario family - when it openly disrupts everything the Crows have ever used that veneer for? does it immediately bear the soft heart Zara berated? show weakness a First Talon never should?
the pieces are THERE for the emotional landscape to this mission to be so much more complex and yet it just Isn't and it's such a shame.

The thing that kills me about Anders being weird about your LI in act 3 is that it's just been so long now. You've been either dating or weirdly not-dating for like 4 years now. And still he's hating.

crazy after hlta when you go over to dorian and he’s like “so we absolutely cannot tell anyone about what happened when we went into the fade, they’ll just see it as a challenge” and your inquisitor is like yeah for sure and then you go over to cassandra and she’s like “i’m writing down an entirely truthful account of us going into the fade for the public record because these events cannot be lost to myth and guesswork again” and your inquisitor is like yeah for sure. i guess i’m just letting that play out. staying in my lane

So something I keep thinking about... Mythal was straight up killed by the Evanuris, arguably the most powerful beings to exist (apart from the Titans?), but a fragment of a wisp of her was still carried on down the ages to eventually bond with Flemeth.
I wonder if the same can be said for the parts of the Evanuris bound to their Old Gods/Archdemons? When the Archdemons were slain by the Wardens and their souls "destroyed", were the fragments of the Evanuris they were imbued with cast out into the Fade to grow into something new, in the same way that Solas says his friend Wisdom would be? He does say the first of his people aren't so easily killed - which Mythal proved.
Morrigan says outright that the fragment of Mythal in the Crosswords is not the same fragment that lived within Flemeth and her daughters for centuries, so I think it's quite possible that somewhere out in the Fade, the spirits of the Old Gods have been growing and evolving - maybe even being shaped by the dreams of modern elves? Wouldn't it be a cool idea if these lingering spirits of the slain Evanuris were actually transformed into reflections of the Creators by the beliefs of their people?
I suppose all of this is moot now that Dragon Age is over, but like I said, it's something I keep coming back to.
