That's what I've been wanting to ask. Who said that "See you again" word? It's Chihiro.... right? ._.

Oh, and don't forget the fact that at first Yugami was so reluctant to delivering the grad's speech. But when Chihiro cheer for him by saying "To keep it true to himself" and she was looking forward to hearing his speech. And just like that, the man was happily doing it. -_-

I think it's not wrong to say, so far the one who can convinced Yugami easily was Chihiro. This wasn't easy since we know how stubborn Yugami can be. But Chihiro just know the way to do it, and so effortlessly at that. 😂

Well, no wonder tho. It's Chemistry that's speaking.

Yugami’s valedictory speech was heartfelt with references to the people around him but also effing hilarious and had an air of I’m finally released from this place and I have zero attachments, goodbye to it.

He also still sticks to his motto of not needing friends and talks about how people should value themselves more. We’re not fucking worthy.

Just beautiful. And it was all so true to his character.

Also Kadota cried. Someone protect that boy (Kido will).

And that「またね」at the end, what’s that supposed to MEAN, SAKURA?

So I guess we’ll never find out what Chihiro wrote in her reply to Yugami’s new year’s card but I also like how Yugami and Chihiro kind of just bury the hatchet so easily after they reconcile. They don’t address it again, really, and just go back to how they were before. The same thing happened after the arc where Chihiro cut ties with him. That’s so real.

Next chapter is the final chapter and I’m not ready for it to to end. I’m not ready for Yugami and all his troublemaking shenanigans to end.

I seriously love the way you put it at the end. Yupppp. They indeed are irreplaceable to each other.

Damn. We're finally in the end. The site I use to read it translated got to 80. It's been a wild ride, such an amazing manga. I love how deep down inside they both have a thing for eachother. I love how Yuuji told Chihiro all the things he tought about her via the speech. It was so fucking sweet.

If you think that was sweet, get on chapter 81 and the extras, anon. They are cavity-inducing.

One of my favourite things about the ending stretch of the manga is that after Chihiro has her outburst at Yugami and says he’ll just forget about her once they graduate, the story shows, again and again, that he will never forget her. This was something that was building for a long time because Chihiro was lamenting this as early as chapter 31.

They’ve carved a spot in each other’s lives that no one else can replicate.

I know this post have been here for quite a long time. But I really holding myself back to not read any of the final chapter's related post ever since the mangasite where I read this series began updated rapidly like crazy.

Like seriously. At first it was updated slowly like 2 chapters per month and stuck in chap. 34 and seemingly like won't be updated for god know how long, and my need to see Yugami troublesome shenanigans is at it's limit, so I begun adventuring here in Tumblr, and found that this amazing account exist :'))) And when the final chapters was just this close to being published, the mangasite decided to update. And with amazing speed at that. (2 chapters in a day, and constant update everyday) I'm like, "What the hell?" And in the end, decided that I will read the final chapters from the manga. And not from anywhere else (since I can't read Japanese, RAW is out of option). I really am waiting for the final chapters with so much anxiety and excitement since I have so much expectations for it. For the sake of truly comprehend it fully, I really, REALLY, was holding myself back. Despite my curiosity is at it's peak, I perserved.

And damn its all worth wait.

OH. MY. GOD!

I really don't know which one I want to talk first. The fact that based from the extra chapters, Yugami is ACTUALLY waiting Chihiro at the entrance of her apartment despite saying "What a COINCIDENCE", or the one where Yugami brags about him learn Russian, and COINCIDENTALLY choose the one with the meaning "You mean a lot to me" (Why didn't you ask him the meaning Chihi? I'm serious at how Yugami's expression will be. X'D). Oh, and the time when Yugami said "I want to find a friend for humanity." and Chihiro responded "Maybe you should find a friend within humanity before finding one for it.", LMAO! I literally cracking like crazy x'DD. And the notion of their activity of never stops watching Heiraku's Rakugo even after he accomplished his goal.... Isn't that a proposal? It sounds like one to me. :'D And when she ask "Is it because we're friends?" And Yugami responded "Well, maybe not as friends."

....Seriously, you two?

The ending was truly exceeded my expectation! Definitely genius! It's so damn well executed that I spend almost one hour to read chapter 81 and the extra 81.5. I can't help it! It so cute, I giggle at every single thing of the underlying meaning. And the onws I pointed above, trust me when I said I want to screaming (fan-girling to be exact) if I didn't forget that it's 2 A.M in the morning :') So I just screaming at my pillow like the crazy fangirl I am :'DD I mean we all know Yugami too well to know where this will be going. *wink wink*

And Yugami was truly love of being efficient aren't he? Killing two birds with one stone. Watching Heiraku with Chihiro. And since like you said Yugami is man of his words, it's quite been settle already with whom he will spend the rest of his life with. Someone he willingly share something he loves so much (Heiraku). And forever at that. (Since "Never stops. Ever." equals to "Forever" in my dictionary wkwkwk)

And the extra chapter where the fact that it's not just Chihiro who keeps remembering about Yugami, but also visa versa? (Eventhough the way Yugami remember her is so Yugami-like x'D) Dammit! CAN'T IT BE MORE CUTE THAN THAT!!!! I already read and watch hundreds of anime and manga series, but I never found myself giggle so hard just because something simple like that) Well this is YUGAMI though, that's speaks a lot. Oh, and the one panel at the extra where it shows them eating while watching baseball, that said Yugami and Chihiro are meeting more often? I believe it's not that far my friend. For our ship to sail >;D If that wasn't what date look like, then I dunno what is :')) Oh! And the one when he wait Chihiro at the entrance of her apartment? When he saw her from afar and he took of his headset while smiling? I found the smile was so sweetttttttt. :")) Though when he greeted her, he insulted her right of the bat with that flat expression of his. 🤣

Not surprise about the way it turn out though, since Chihiro kinda resemblance his grandma. And his grandma married his grandpa which personality resembles Yugami so much. (But turn out Yugami's worse than his grandpa based on what his grandma said at their graduation).

Ah, and the graduation speech.... It really slap me in the face what Yugami said about Chihiro since I can quite relate to her. So yeah, wanna personally thanks Sakura Jun-sensei for creating someone like Yugami, who stay true to himself until the end.

And kudos to Chihiro at the day of the graduation. She holding back the tears and said thank you instead. That was definitely hard to do for her. Since what she afraid is that Yugami wouldn't keep contact after the grad and ended up forgetting about her. And that moment might be the last time she saw him. She really think about him as someone special. And thankfully, it's not one sided.

They have great chemistry indeed, that I'm sure when one of them confess (realize their feeling), it happen so naturally like "Oh. Wasn't we already? I thought we're dating all this time." 🤣

Well, like Fujisawa said though,

"I'm sure things will end up the way they're supposed to 😊"

Oh, and forget to mention Kadota. I think what I want to say, you said it already. I went "awwww" when Kadota cried though after hearing Yugami's speech :'))

Once again. I'm seriously satisfied with how the ending turned out! (I dunno how many times I already said it x'P) Thank you so much, Sensei, for this amazing pieces of story! I'm sure Yugami and Chihiro would stuck in my head like forever, since Yugami so unique I haven't found any character similar to him at all :')) And of course, Yugami came with package, the ordinary-but-far-from-boring protagonist, Chihiro.

That's all my random fan-girling. It's been a fun journey with them. Sorry about this long essay. I got too carried away since I want to read and comment your post about the final chapters so badddd after I finished read them on last Monday. But since life stuff caught up and it's been one hell of a hectic week, I just found the time to do it now. 😂

Yugami wants to become an astronaut so he can befriend aliens for the human race but for now he delivers pizza as a part time job and this is how he runs into Chihiro again. I died laughing. He’s also learning Russian and the one phrase he chose to use to demonstrate that was Ты много значишь для меня which apparently translates to “you mean a lot to me” or “you’re important to me.”

FOR REAL. But Chihiro’s absolutely clueless.

Yugami also kept inviting Chihiro to see Heiraku with him because no one else would believe that Heiraku created a new story based on him and even when Chihiro’s finally heard the story he keeps inviting her to go with him because Heiraku’s stories are always evolving. ALWAYS. YOU TWO ARE STUCK TOGETHER FOR LIFE BECAUSE OF YUGAMI.

He even pays for the tickets every time and food too, apparently (EDIT: okay maybe not food but he still wouldn’t let her treat him). ISN’T THIS JUST–

It’s a fucking date. And they’ve been on multiple ones. What’s this springtime of youth doing in my loner manga. Just kidding.

When Yugami invites Chihiro to go see Heiraku again (and seemingly forever) even after she’s finally heard the story, Chihiro asks, “‘Always?’ So we’re always going to go? Because we’re friends?”

Yugami says, “We’re…not friends, but let’s go, together.”

Chihiro’s final narration: “There’s always some kind of meaning to whatever Yugami-kun does. …So, I wonder what possible meaning this could have?”

Are they both just really dense or something?

Thanks Sakura-sensei for seven years of this wonderful manga. I’ll miss it dearly.

Suatu waktu, ada seseorang yang tiba-tiba hadir di hidupmu. Bagimu, ia sosok yang tepat. Tidak sempurna, tentu saja, tetapi sebagian besar yang ada di dirinya sudah sesuai kriteria.

Tidak salah lagi. Kali ini, kamu cukup yakin keluarga dan lingkunganmu akan menerimanya dengan tangan terbuka. Akan ada satu dua yang saling berbisik tentang ketidaksempurnaannya, tentu saja, tetapi tidak apa-apa. Itu tandanya ia masih manusia.

Ini pasti konspirasi semesta, batinmu. Tiba-tiba harimu jadi penuh bunga.

Lalu, tanpa menunggu lama, kamu diam-diam mendekatinya. Mencari tahu apa yang disuka dan tak disukanya. Menciptakan pertemuan-pertemuan kecil yang seolah tak sengaja. Melakukan aneka tindakan bodoh untuk mencuri perhatiannya. Merancang strategi tahap demi tahap untuk memenangkan hatinya.

Sayangnya lagi, ia benar-benar ingin pergi. Kamu sedih, tentu saja, tetapi mau bagaimana lagi?

Memang begitu cara dunia bekerja. Tak semua yang kita damba jadi nyata. Tak semua cita bertemu dengan izin Sang Pencipta.

Menolak Patah

Keras kepala.

Entah sudah berapa kali kudengar kata itu diucapkan padaku. Bahkan mungkin dari semua sifat dan keanehanku, hal satu ini lah yang paling melekat pada identitasku.

Bukan sifat yang patut dibanggakan. Bahkan tergolong memalukan jika dikaitkan tentang "dirinya".

Berbagai bentakan, tatapan sinis, sifat dingin, cuek, dan masih banyak lain yg kesemuanya sebangsa dengan "penolakan"--meskipun hampir semuanya tersirat, telah kau ekspresikan.

Namun seperti orang bodoh, diriku masih saja terus berharap. Menolak menyerah. Berpegang pada beberapa kenangan yang aku yakin (rasa), bahwa mungkin kita berada pada satu jalan yang sama. Satu rasa.

Dan seperti orang bodoh, pada akhirnya juga patah saat mendengar fakta yang sampai sekarang, dengan keras kepalanya, masih belum mau kupercaya sebagai fakta.

Hal apa lagi yang ingin kau dengar sampai kau puas? Haruskah kau melihat secara langsung di depan mata baru kau percaya? Baru sifat keras kepalamu itu mengalah, mengaku kalah pada ketidakberdayaan atas keputusan takdir?

Mendalam

Mengapa, pembicaraan yang mendalam, tidak semua orang ingin mendengarkan? Seperti membicarakan tentang kematian, tentang rahasia diri, tentang hal-hal yang tersembunyi, sesuatu yang tidak pernah ditampilkan di keseharian. Tentang hal-hal yang membuatmu tertekan, depresi. Tentang harapan-harapan yang berkembang tanpa pegangan, terbang tinggi lalu hilang. Tentang orang tua yang kita nilai, tidak mampu memahami kita. Tentang kita, dan hal-hal yang kita takutkan.

Mengapa tulisan-tulisan yang mendalam tidak laku dibawa ke pembaca. Yang surface, yang banyak bicara kisah indah dan cinta, yang tidak perlu memahaminya dengan berpikir, lebih mudah diterima?  Mengapa hal-hal yang mendalam hanya beresonansi ke sedikit orang? Apa mungkin karena kedalaman setiap orang dalam memahami sesuatu, mengobservasi, dan daya tahannya untuk berpikir lama, itu berbeda? Bagaimana jika, kita bicara hal-hal yang mendalam di ruang publik. Bicara dari hati ke hati, tentang segala sesuatu yang membosankan di dunia ini, tentang lelahnya kita dituntut untuk seperti ini dan itu oleh persepsi masyarakat, tentang tuntutuan-tuntutan keluarga yang membuat kita bingung bagaimana caranya menjadi anak yang berbakti sekaligus memenuhi hasrat dan tujuan penciptaan kita. 

Bagaimana kalau ruang-ruang yang mendalam itu dibawa ke dalam tulisan-tulisan, apakah kamu mau membacanya? Menyisikan sebagian besar waktu dan energimu untuk memikirkannya. Memahaminya.

Karena aku selalu mencari orang-orang yang mau diajak menyelami hidup ini jauh dari permukaannya, karena sepi sekali di sana, gelap sekali di sana. Maukah kamu menyelami hidup ini sejauh itu dan siap menemukan sesuatu yang mengejutkan dari dirimu sendiri? Siapkah kita semua menerima kebenaran, karena selama ini kita kan sibuk mencari pembenaran? I can totally see now what made ppl love this series. Like seriously. I wasn't one to start watch a damned 300-episode something-anime. But the moment I start it (jumped to eps 266), I know there will be no return hahahaha. And definitely added this one to my already hectic schedules; watching Gintama from episode 1 until the latest one. Dammit!

MY 25 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 98 (manga chaps 147 and 148):

I love the Owee arc so damn much if it were a person I would date it for a long time and then eventually think about marrying it. One of the cutest and funniest arcs ever! I mean, honestly, how can I NOT love it considering it has my Yorozuya, Shinsengumi and Zura with Elizabeth altogether in one arc. I want to see the live action version of this arc too. Gods I want a third live action movie so much. 

1) The anime team once again creatively padding the episode out. Can´t believe they didn´t mosaic Gin-chan´s little Gin-chan.

This!

while today mp100, fma and hxh are the big 3 in terms of quality manga, i feel one series that often gets overlooked is slam dunk. 

yes, its way older that the series i mentioned, so some kind of recency bias is at play, but the portrayal of teenage boys (even though they look like mid-20′s) and their attitudes is on point as far a positivity goes. most of the manga that deals with teenagers in a serious way is darker and focuses on pain and trauma so that they’ll be called great while slam dunk just shows how the feeling of wanting to be the best for dumb reasons is the main fuel of teenage boys without taking to the extreme as all action shounen tends to do.

finally, the art is something that i’ve yet to find something better. the skill that inoue has to show detailed facial expressions and his grasp of anatomy is unparalleled, not to mention how he has mastered pacing.

Same but that’s why I love it. It’s just so off-kilter and unconventional. I never really know how Yugami and Chihiro are going to react to certain events but when they do, it always makes sense for their characters and yet it’s also not what I’d expect at all.

Chihiro is easier to read generally since she’s the narrator but Yugami is a wild card.

Blushing Yugami in Chihiro's memories might be the cutest Yugami yet! I almost feel like if they actually dated he'd be kind of tsudere.

I’d say he’s already pretty tsundere ^^;; it’s just such a subtle, human portrayal of the trope that we don’t immediately recognize it!

Never admitting she’s more than his seat neighbor, not wanting to comment about her when his family pries, always mixing his compliments and words of thanks with insults to downplay the fact that he’s praising her…

Sounds pretty tsundere to me, at least in the classic sense of the word - someone who starts off being cold and standoffish before they gradually soften and start treating that special person sweetly instead. And he sure is sweet with her in his own way~
