making friends

after months of intensively studying their language, i finally made friends with the lizardfolk. their leader is very tall. i offered him a selection of baked goods, and an opportunity to enter into diplomatic relations with tryn. dude was like, 'yeah okay that sounds good but let me check with the spirits first.'  cool.  no problem.  he comes back and is all, 'i'm really sorry but the spirits say we've got to kill you.'

and i'm thinking, there must be some mistake! we're mega friendly! why would the spirits want us dead? and i'm like, 'hey, dude, i respect that. can i talk to the spirits a bit before things get too real here?'

and dude looks at me, and he nods, and he says, 'yeah, okay.'

meanwhile dulgrin, ivy and reshet don't speak draconic so they have NO CLUE what is going on. i'm all, 'yo, dudes, just gonna go talk to the spirits, stay here and don't do anything reckless," in common and then i go.

turns out a there's a will-o'-wisp and it tries to enter into my body and i protect myself with my hammer and, like, it dies.

i'm kind of embarrassed about what happens next so i wont write it down. maybe another time.

but things pretty much worked out and now we're friends with the lizardfolk so there is that.

afterward ivy TOTALLY was all like, 'hey maybe you aren't COMPLETELY useless, solenne,' and that was a nice change from the ordinary.  :)

owlbear :(

we tracked the owlbear to a cave and there were dead bandits inside and a dead owlbear and also a little baby owlbear. i felt so sad for the baby owlbear so i picked it up and then the armoured owlbear came out and they were so ANGRY and i dropped the baby and it was horrible.

i didn't want to kill the grown owlbear. it was too sad and unfair. i didn't want to hurt the baby.  :(  i didn't want to orphan the baby.  :(

the half-elf kid doesn't take orders well. he lacks discipline and i was so angry with him.

we tried to capture the owlbear but it was too strong and it escaped and we had to kill it.  :(

dulgrin and i had a drink and kanan was there and the bandit had a ring that made the owlbear his friend but then after a few minutes the owlbear would go into a rage and kill anyone until it was killed itself.  :(

it was a very bad day.  :(

brain injury

one of the trolls cracked my skull. like literally. i heard the sound and everything went white and then sparking black. i was so dizzy and then i didn't feel much of anything anymore.

dulgrin saved my life. i can't even count how many times he's done that.  dude is a true friend.  i can keep doing good work because i'm alive, thanks to him.

wall goes up wall comes down

we built the wall along the north end of town which felt really good.  then we went out to deal with the troll problem to the south.  we found an island of kobolds along the way and i left them a gift basket of pastries with my card so that if they want to start diplomatic relations they'll know where to find us.

trolls are pretty huge and they're pretty scary. we found their lair -- a dwarven mountain city -- with the gate guarded by a couple of them.  ivy went to bar the door behind them so that reinforcements couldn't back them up but then rashet cast a huge fireball and it hurt the trolls but it hurt ivy too.

my hammer does acid damage so killing the trolls was okay. we worked together and ivy got healing and then we got in.

there were lots of trolls inside.  and some treasure. there was a troll with a huge hammer like mine!!! i told him that I AM JUSTICE but he just sort of grunted and then we fought and he died.

rashet made friends with a troll dog! her name is alice.

when we got back to town everyone was really upset with us. while we were gone an armour-wearing owlbear attacked and they wished we hadn't gone to fight the trolls i guess but seriously we can't be everywhere at once. this arrogant half-elf kid ended up scaring the owlbear away and i didn't like him from the start. but people invited him along so we went to track the owlbear together.

gruff said so and he’s totally right. we’re undefended and if/when the trolls come back i’d rather have a nice wall between us and then. a wall. of. fire? maybe?

danger time: ghosts and necromancers and HAPS

the ghost who owned the dagger got very angry and tried to freeze dulgrin’s heart and that was upsetting.  reshet turned me into a giant for the first time ever and it was amazing!!!!!!!!!  i was huge and then ivy killed the ghost i think but i can’t remember very much because everything happened very fast but i’m sure it wasn’t me who killed it because mostly i just stomped around and missed.  it was hard getting used to my huge size!!!

i hope that wherever HAPS is that he is safe. also THE TOWN IS SAVED.

HAPS left but i hope he is safe and far away from our land now so that he can live a happy life free from the dangers posed by my precious but unforgiving friends and comrades.  then we went back to town and we saw that there was a HUGE SMOULDERING TROLL CORPSE lying on the ground and that was distressing and i was worried for the people of our town. i asked gruff and he said that the town was attacked by four trolls and that a mysterious necromancer raised some of the dead guards as zombies to fight the trolls and they killed one and then the rest of the trolls ran away.

MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT. it must be her! i knew it must be her, because i told her to visit the town if she wanted and she SAVED THE TOWN.

she is so cool.  :)  i don't know how to spell her name: kanan? kaenanne? but the sound of it is like the striking of a bell, and also like a smooth pebble in a pond. she is so great and she helped us out.
