We as a society don’t talk about just how meticulous Mu Qing is. He is SO meticulous that he personally shows up in his followers’ dreams to threaten them if they make a bad statue of him... Like imagine spending an ungodly amount of time sculpting for the god you worship and he pulls up in your dream just to tell you that your testicle MIGHT fall off due to reasons completely unrelated to the UGLY, HIDEOUS, REVOLTING sculpture you have created, and that you should probably work on it a little longer LAZY HOE because that could be the reason SOMEONE is going to cut your testicle but you didn’t hear it from him..

I think part of the reason I’m so obsessed with MXTX’s works is the way that each story seems to hold you gently as say “Your kindness mattered. It didn’t alleviate the suffering, it did not undo the pain. But your kindness mattered.”

Kindness could not erase Luo Binghe’s abuse, but it changed the story into a kinder one.

Kindness did not stop Wei Wuxian’s death, but it did save a-Yuan.

Kindness did not undo Xie Lian’s suffering, but it renewed his sincerity to help others.

Kindness did not change the entire world, but it helped create a softer future.

Its such a nice message, that maybe kindness will not protect you, maybe you don’t see the outcome of it, but you should still try to be kind, and I love that honestly.

Xie Lian wanted more.

He wanted it so much he felt like he could cry.

His legs wrapped around Hua Cheng’s waist, pulling the ghost unbelievably closer to him. More and more and more and more, but for some reason it wasn’t enough. It didn’t satisfy his hunger, his thirst, his desire. It didn't cool down the heat that ran through his body from the inside out, that made his skin burn.

His fingers were clenched on the robes covering Hua Cheng's back, so tightly that some tears ended up appearing on that man's robes.

Oh and what a man he was. The only one who made Xie Lian feel this way.

Xie Lian knew exactly what he was feeling. Trapped in that coffin with Hua Cheng on top of him, between his legs, their pelvises rubbing against each other, it was impossible to even pretend that he didn't know what was happening.

He licked his lips, trying to look anywhere other than that eye with the deeply hungry glint he had noticed before deciding it was impossible to continue trying to look at Hua Cheng.

His face was already unbearably hot, with Hua Cheng's gaze on him, the heat in his body only increased, and Xie Lian couldn't even imagine what exactly would happen if he looked at him.

But he had an idea. And it terrified him.

Not because Hua Cheng scared him, he knew that Hua Cheng would never do anything against his will, the problem was what Xie Lian would do if things... went that way.

In the coffin or not, their vows would be broken at any moment.

Xie Lian is a strong, resilient, firm man, but only when he wants to be, because when he doesn't want to, then he simply gives up.

I love how MXTX's first two books do not take long to show you what weirdos the main characters are. Shen Yuan was waiting his whole life to die and get transmigrated and judges other (fictional) characters for reacting to transmigration poorly. Wei Wuxian wakes up in the body of a deranged lunatic and he disguises himself by acting like a deranged lunatic and does not stop for the rest of the book

Xie Lian is a total weirdo too he's just better at hiding it
