Let me sum up my issue with the moon scene:

It's shallow. There, that's the TL;DR

Sonic basically just says "revenge is bad actually" and to hold onto the love you had.

That's all it takes to convince Shadow to drop his revenge plans.

There's no wish to remember, no reminding Shadow of who he is or even asking what he really wants, just saying "you can be a good guy" works because this Shadow HAS no motivation.

If he was being manipulated by Gerald, he clearly didn't need much convincing. It just makes it look like he was eager to kill everyone even though he scolds Sonic for seeking revenge like him.

He literally has no justification; no rationalization for something he acknowledges is wrong. He knows he's doing bad and he has absolutely no excuse for himself.

Game Shadow thought he was carrying out Maria's final wish, that's what made it okay to him, here he just says he's in pain and agrees genocide, as well as self destruction, is the cure.

He doesn't have to be reminded of who he is, what he's here for, because there isn't a reason.

He has nothing, no wants, no character, outside of the pain of losing Maria. He is nothing more than a chess piece designed to cause the plot without any thought to the moves.

Even when getting reminded of Maria, personally responsible for inflicting the pain he feels on another person, he doubles down.

Why?

In SA2, the reminder pushed him to save Rouge.

It showed a clink in the armor, a little gap in the programming that doesn't exist in this movie. It showed he cared, which makes sense, he was doing all this BECAUSE he cared about Maria's wish. It's also why he acts so fast to fix it when he realizes he was wrong.

He doesn't hesitate, doesn't think for a moment about ruining all his work, he just fixes it to keep his promise to Maria. It speaks volumes about how much he valued her.

He was never truly a bad guy, he was just used by a grieving man.

This surface level approach of "just remember the love you had" doesn't work for a character like Shadow unless you strip him of everything.

This is what happens when you forget the nuance of Shadow's character and boil him down to "emo rival".

There is no such thing as a video game that NEEDS a remake

All any game needs is a rerelease on modern hardware. Optionally, with quality of life additions. That's it.

Remakes are unnecessary. Remakes are antithetical to media preservation.

I hate bring up sonictubers but for fuck sake I'm sick and tired of people (like Zman) deadass said that forces was a lie because the whole "from the group that make colors and generations) thing even though that wasn't even a lie.

Sonictubers sure as shit can't beat the dumbass allegations.

Sonictubers; completely failing to research their own shit since 2016.

Shouldn't really come as a shock that most Sonictubers aren't at all interested in sharing unique perspectives on any subject of any facet of the franchise. They, instead, opt to parrot the same tired old video essay talking points to their audience of sheep. That's why people still gad about how "most of Forces' development was spent/wasted on the lighting engine" and other such nonsense.

I don't think I even need to show replies and retweets. They're what I predicted - interactions for the interactions' sake. "what blud is yapping about", "shut up", "what's wrong with you", "you're obsessed" - all the usual.

People don't care about things they talk about and try to make parts of their lives. Discussion in Anglophone part of Sonic fanbase is stagnant thanks to people like this. To people who argue not with positions but the existence of such; to people who reply for the sake of reaction, not information; to people who read what they want to; to people who can't provide anything, neither artistically nor intellectually.

The point of what I've said is that I wish I could say more on someone like Ian Flynn and global problems with Sonic as well. But I don't have enough experience and knowledge for it. That's why I want someone to get on this. One man, two men, an entire collective including me, someone I know or not - it doesn't matter, what matters is the change it may cause.

Fanbase should be of conscious people, of people who think. If you don't want to and you only can yap - shut you bitch ass up and get the fuck outta here. You wear the title of a fan not for the love you experience but for the engagement this title provides. You can't actually say anything in defense of Ian Flynn because you don't love him genuinely. You can't say anything against Pontac and Graff because your hatred is shallow. You can't say anything about Maekawa, Toyoda or any other person responsible for Sonic games and their stories for one simple reason. You don't care. And if you don't care, you should shrug off and leave. Do that and this will make your and our lives better.
