Redo/Undo (Side-by-Side)
Cringe Worthy (on the left) which is the original work and Celebratory Chaos (on the right) which is the redo.
I chose to redo this piece because I wanted to focus on just a single object, but with different uncomfortable sounds that it can make. This object I chose brought a positive symbolization to the viewer, but also an uncomfortable sound.

Self Directed Practice #5: Redo/Undo
Celebratory Choas, 2017
This piece explores the chaotic and uncomfortable sounds a balloon can make. Often when we look at a balloon it symbolizes positive things such as celebrations and joy. This video shows the negative side of a single balloon by having the viewer experience a chaotic journey with different types of audio. I used a single pink balloon and premiere pro to have the video come together.

Self Directed Practice #4: Immaterial Processes and Elements Project
Cringe Worthy, 2017.
This video piece explores the different sounds that make people feel uncomfortable. I’ve incorporated the most popular uncomfortable sounds that people consider the most “cringe worthy”.
In the beginning of this video, the phone shows “relaxing music” to throw off the viewer and making them think that they are listening to soothing music instead of disturbing sounds. Not only am I testing myself to see how long I can hold listening to these sounds, but I am also testing the audience themselves.
Some of the sounds being used in this video were nails scratching on a chalkboard, squeaky swings, car alarms, a drill, doors squeaking, high pitch noise beep, and a mixtures of all of them together.

Social Addiction Video
Inspired by the artist Nam June Paik
I did a Video Art based project on the addiction we have on social media.
Nam June Paik’s art was based on the use of television sets and transforming them into different forms of art with looping videos scenes that were important to America at the time. He believed that the television influenced America so much which is what he mostly experienced when he came to America.
In my piece I used technology in todays generation because we are so consumed by it and the use of social media daily that it controls our lives. I play it in a loop because it shows how we are constantly scrolling through without noticing that we view the same photo in one day.  Programs used: iMovie and Adobe PremierePro

Context Alters Meaning Project:
 Associative situations/environments
My approach for this piece was to take my photos in areas where there's a lot of nature, rocks and tile texture, as well as broken down pieces. This assignment made me realize how important context is because it's what makes the piece. The surroundings of the piece can make or break it if it's not placed in the proper environment. By putting it in its normal environments I realized how the piece was able to look familiar in that area, but still stand out in its own unique way.

Context Alters Meaning Project:
Contradictory situations/environments
Since the piece I am taking out into the real world shows destruction, chaos, and brokenness, I wanted to showcase the piece in places that were calm and where you wouldn't normally find broken tiles. Such as the library and a children's playground slide. It made me look at my surrounding much differently and how the piece would contribute to that area that it was being placed it. It made me realize that sometimes a piece that has nothing to do with the environment can still form a beautiful photograph.
