Did your OC's parents love them unconditionally? If so then has this helped them feel confident as an adult? If not then how has this affected them? What were the conditions their family attached to their relationship?
Solis will never know.
He was the golden child, their only child, and everything they could have asked for. Whatever they wanted, he did it. Whatever they demanded, he granted with a smile. And it was easy for him.
Academics, boxing, the violin - scrap that, son, piano is a better party trick.
Solis was the party trick. He was their pride and their joy. Who else could be? It wasn't like there was competition in the household.
But what if he hadn't? What if he'd flopped at all the extracurriculars they shoved him into, or what if he'd set his sights on a path of his own making and spurned the one they'd laid out for him? The Garlean civil war took their lives amongst many others.
And so Solis will never know whether their love was unconditional, whether they would have still loved him after his defection. All he knows is that he looks like his mother. The mirror is the closest he'll ever be to her again.

Do they believe in love at first sight? Have they ever developed a crush or romantic (or erotic) fixation upon a stranger based on their appearance alone?
Thank you for the ask! I'm giving this one to Solis~
When it comes to love at first sight, Solis likes to think of himself as more practical than that. Under his parents' influence he expected to someday marry a Garlean woman from a good family and provide for her and their eventual children. Was it what he wanted? No, and try as he might he couldn't summon a spark of passion for any of the girls he dallied with in school. But it was his lot in life and he would not let his mother and father down, so the notion of love at first sight became something storybook to him.
The moment he was stationed in Doma and away from his parents' watchful eyes, he developed a quick crush on another male soldier and they had a brief affair. Too bad the man nearly sliced Solis in two the night he defected.
That eventually led him to Ishgard where he soon fell for another man, but this was someone who saved his life and treated him as a friend.
That's all to say that Solis can feel a passing attraction to a stranger, but it won't be a fixation until he knows enough to be charmed by them as a person. Then he'll form a plan and put it in motion to obtain what (who) he wants.

Philia: 4. Is your OC able to build close friendships with people very different from themselves? Perhaps in terms of culture, age or personality? and Agape: 3. To what extent does your OC believe in the value (or even existence) of true altruism? Do they see an unselfish concern for the welfare of others as being naïve or foolish? Or as a moral quality to which people should aspire? For any!
Thanks so much for the asks, anon! I'm giving them both to Solis.
Philia: #4. Previously that would have been a resounding no. While growing up in his homeland Solis only rubbed elbows with his fellow purebloods, and if you weren't of his caste and ambition then you weren't going to be approached. His goal was to make friends that would be beneficial in the longrun, those who could fulfill a 'I scratch your back and you scratch mine' relationship. It was all politics and strategy. That was simply how he was raised.
Nowadays, after the awful time he had stationed in Doma and now living in Ishgard with his Auri lover, his circumstances and curiosity have opened him to a wide range of people. He's a polite and amicable man by default and continues to reeducate himself when it comes to how he approaches and views non-Garleans.
Agape: #3. Solis' sense of altruism has been strengthened since his time in occupied Doma. It was his first experience seeing poverty and all other manner of struggle, and it especially hit home knowing his people had caused much of it. No longer kept in a gilded cage by his parents, his heart has proven to be soft towards others, even somewhat idealistic.
He'll still make connections with the rich and influential, but these days he's more likely to yank those leashes when he sees a cause that needs funding for someone less fortunate.

If they wish to impress someone for whom they have romantic (or at least sexual) feelings, does your OC attempt to present themselves as more confident, wealthy, popular or otherwise impressive, than they truly are?
Thank you for the ask! This question suits Solis best.
Solis was raised with the expectation that he would be the ideal husband to his future wife. "Ideal" meant being a provider, one who had the wealth and connections to keep his dependents safe no matter the circumstances or the cost. Nevermind that a few dalliances showed him he wasn't too keen on women from a sexual point of view, but hey, whatever makes Mom and Dad happy. He'll cope with all that later.
Since his defection and meeting his lover, a male Au Ra, his expectations of himself have been turned on their head. He expects to be able to provide for his lover, to secure their future, but he's been left with nothing - and his lover places little value in riches or material things.
So even though Solis has inserted himself into the Ishgardian markets and economy skillfully enough to make some pretty gil, he has no one that needs it. Now he is being taken care of, and racking his brain for ways to reciprocate. Add to that the fact that his lover likes to call him "wife" and Solis is left flummoxed and unsure of what it is he brings to the table.
He'll learn someday that it's just himself and that's all that's needed.
