If I do something good because it makes me feel like a good person, is that technically selfish?
no, only if you’re choosing to make others suffer to make yourself feel good
enjoying making other people happy is a great thing

i hate when ppl mock “gsa kids” and “baby gays” bc,, like i would literally do anything to go through the early stages of discovery again. Back when i just got so excited at the idea of anything with rainbows, and was excitily telling everyone that i was going by a new name and buying pronoun pins by the handful. And then i found internet discouse and immediatly decided to stop being so gay bc if i did- i would be mocked. i literally hate u all so much for acting like being new to the community and genunily excited is something bad or cringy. Theres literally nothing wrong with a teenager identifying with sixty labels and talking loudly. You know what happens if they realize they’re not ace, or nonbinary, or whatever else you think is fake? then they realize that they’re not that- and if you chose to support them- they also have a lot of good memories of their experiences in lgbt spaces. It’s literally that easy.

PLEASE if you are anti-monopoly in film, if you are pro-queer characters in family media, if you are a fan of unique and innovative animation, raise support for picking up Nimona wherever you can. It’s such a vital and game changing work for the animation industry based on a comic by a nonbinary lesbian writer/illustrator (Noelle Stevenson, also known for being the showrunner of Netflix’s She-Ra reboot). Disney just shut down the studio making it (Blue Sky Studios, which Disney has owned since it bought 20th Century Fox a few years ago) and cancelled the film, forcing hundreds of workers into unemployment during a pandemic. If enough people publicize it, there’s a chance it could still be picked up by another studio. Use the hashtag #SaveNimona on twitter and instagram. Keep talking about it. Nimona is already trending on twitter, but keep it there. Draw attention to it.
Show Disney they can’t monopolize animation.

[id: the video is divided into 16 squares. in each one, an LGBT person is doing something such as reading, preparing food, playing with their pets, washing dishes. it is overlaid with an audio of the Turkish president's recent speech saying "LGBT? No such thing exists. This country is national, spiritual". when he says "no such thing exists", people disappear from the frame, leaving only the background]

The issue with so many people in leftist spaces is that they think they're too smart to be fooled by any traps.
They think they're too smart to fall for extremism, they think they're too smart to fall for fascist rhetoric, they think they're too smart to say anything incriminating to cops, etc, etc.
It's hubris, plain and simple, and it gets you fucked over so fast. Always stay aware, always challenge your own beliefs, don't get complacent or cocky, and never talk to cops.

ATTENTION ARTISTS: Need help calculating your commission prices?

A tool that I’ve found is really handy is a called the Cash Clock. It’s a simple program that measures both the time that you’re working on a piece as well as how much money you should be earning. You can adjust the hourly wage to whatever you feel is right. Simply start the clock whenever you begin working on a project right up until you’re finished. It can give you a clear indication of what you should charge for commissions.
No artist should make below minimum wage for their artwork.
The Cash Clock is found as a download here.

listen I’m just dreading the day when they’re gonna screw us over and close this site for lack of use. you already see people talking like “oh I miss Tumblr” all the time like we’re not still RIGHT FREAKING HERE enjoying our fandom shenanigans in real time…like half the memes on Twitter and Insta are just reposted from here??? uh?? what is that saying???
like I KNOW that Tumblr usage has plummeted and half the blogs that follow me are probably dormant by now. I know that. but if other social media outlets aren’t gonna learn a thing or two about hiding follower counts or allowing tag-based organization or ACTUALLY SHOWING POSTS IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER FOR ONCE, then I don’t want them touching this one

Hey so JK Rowling went full mask off and is advertising an explicitly terf store now.. Also sure is weird how TERF talking points usually consistently leave trans men out of these conversations and usually always direct their hateful rhetoric toward trans women.

Hey, did you like the RE: Village trailer Mark showed off? I have a good deed for all of us to do!
This lady in the trailer (the one that's not an 8 foot tall 50's pinup aesthetic)

Is played by this wonderful lady, Jeanette Maus.

She is no longer with us. She lost her fight against colon cancer since playing this role.
BUT her gofundme for her cancer treatment is still up and active. Twitter is hoping to flood the gofundme with donations to help the family with the inevitable expenses, as her husband should now be in charge of that money. And I think we could help. I do believe in the authenticity of this gofundme, as it was up long before Jeanette's death date, and has photos of her and her husband working the machine used for her treatment.
Here's the link to her GoFundMe.
