Your response in your reblog on the post about collections and series made me think of something since you mentioned that the works in the series are meant to be read in order and collections can be enjoyed separately. I have a whole bunch of AU stories (9 in total, possibly 10 if I decide to post the one I’m working on now) and I was thinking of posting them in a series since they’re all of the same fandom, the same characters are usually involved (meaning sometimes all while other times just a few of them), the only difference is is how they get together with their significant other. I figured putting them in a series would be good since the first AUs take place when the characters are in high school and then later on the AUs are of them in their twenties. But now I’m wondering whether I should instead post them as a collection. What do you think?
I'm afraid it's been so long since you sent this in that I'm not able to find that ask and link it here. Sorry about that!
I hope whatever I said wasn't as prescriptive as that. I tend to work in terms of generalities rather than in specific rules. That said, I do say a lot of stuff on this blog so it's entirely possible that was just how I felt that day.
Today, I would say that series definitely lend themselves to stories being told in a certain order. You can even re-order the works in a series if you write a new fic that you want to put in between two existing ones.
That doesn't mean that works in a series must be read that way, though. It's just a benefit to using the series function over a collection.
If having them in a series has worked for you thus far, I don't think you need to worry about changing it. I think series are probably the more common choice for grouping works together by a single author, anyway.
Unless I'm wrong about that? What do you all think?
#never used collections and honestly never will#bookmark tags are there#series are there as well as the subscriptions to it#not to say there is/was that huge bug with collections where deleting a collection could do smth to the work too?!?!!!#would never risk it omfg

Random evo thought:
Do you think they ever told William that Aelita and Odd weren't actual cousins?
William: Sorry about your uncle, Odd
Odd: Wut?
omg right 😭 there's so much he'd need to be caught up on, why would they pass up on that comedic potential

An idea for a Laura rewrite
The gang talking about their previous experiences with Xana casually and Laura just getting increasingly more concerned these people’s sanity-
Laura: first day This is so cool! :D
Laura: A week in …Jesus Christ- are y’all okay???
lol for sure I've thought about this with William before, since he was originally only with them for less than a day there's no way he could know everything so I like to imagine that everyone keeps casually talking about Lyoko-related stuff he's never heard of before and he's secretly very confused all the time and just can't show it or ask questions because it'll hurt his pride. I was going to draw some little scenes of that years go with questions like "Odd is a cat? I thought he was more of a dog person." "They keep talking about something called Kankrelats, I think that's a monster? But I have no idea what they're like so I'll just nod along." "Who is Franz Hopper? Oh thank you Laura for asking, now I don't have to- nope they're refusing to answer, dammit." I'm not sure if I saved any of the sketches but here's a recreation of one.

But yeah on the serious side, I love the potential of Laura's character in exploring how much the gang have been impacted by their experiences. Kinda like Taelia I guess: they drag a normal girl into a dangerous situation and she gradually realises how messed up it all is, has a very normal reaction to that realisation, and is shunned by the gang for it because they're so used to things being that way.
On the other, more lighthearted (?) hand it could definitely be played for comedy if it leans into the way the show likes to brush off traumatising events as no big deal, like Laura hears "XANA took control of the weather and kept lowering the temperature in an attempt to freeze the city to death. I thought Yumi had died in my arms but she was ok" and she reacts with horror and sympathy like a normal person would, but no, the gang are genuinely unaffected by it because this is a kids' show and we can't traumatise them for real.

Code Lyoko Chronicles 2.0

The Code Lyoko Chronicles are a series of 4 sequel books originally released in Italian in around 2010. Set a short while after the season 4 finale, parts of book 1 recap a story similar to the TV series but with a number of small changes (there's no RTTP for example) while the gang uncover some new secrets in the Hermitage that set them on the path to finding Aelita's mother, Anthea. But XANA survived and is coming back for revenge, and the gang's investigation into the secret history of Franz Hopper, Project Carthage and the Supercomputer puts the men in black on their trail as well, not to mention the shady Green Phoenix organisation who funded Hopper's work.
The books were published in a number of languages, but not in English - so that's where the fans come in. As one of the first translation projects we did for CodeLyoko.fr, finishing in 2014, the original completed English release was pretty rough. 10 years later, armed with more translation sources, better resources and many years of translation experience, I decided to take another crack at it. And after many months of hard work and procrastination, I've produced a version 2.0 that I'm pretty happy with.
Links and notes on the various changes under the cut!
New translations!
My co-translator Kelsey and I didn't have a lot of serious translation experience when we picked up where Rhys Davies left off in his English translation project, and we were definitely prone to making mistakes. And it didn't help that for books 3 and 4, a few things got lost somewhere in the process of the text being translated from Italian > Spanish > French > English. I revised our original translation and this time I referenced multiple sources to try and make sure I got the interpretation right. It won't be perfect, but it's definitely better than our original attempt!
The second half of book 2 was based on the official French version, which I discovered was slightly condensed and abridged to lower the page count. The new English translation expands the text to restore the parts that were omitted. I also changed the title from The Nameless City to The City with No Name - there was never an official English translation, but I did find a marketing document with the titles listed in English, and that was the only one that differed.
Here's a page comparison with a few changes, mostly minor, but one big change to the context of Odd and Ulrich's conversation. With my apologies to Kiwi for the original mistranslation.

New formatting!
I got better at formatting Word docs and realised I should have the text alignment set to justify. The books look a lot neater now!
Accessibility!
I added alt text descriptions to all the images, and the PDFs all have a proper table of contents now so you don't have to scroll to the end of the book to find the navigation.
(Note I don't have a lot of experience with detailed image descriptions and I haven't done much testing with a screen reader - feedback is welcome from people who know more about it!)
New scans!
The centre of each book has several colour pages with images and text to supplement the story, and some of the original scans were quite small or had part of the image disappearing into the spine of the book. And the only way to fix it seemed to be to obtain physical copies of the books (probably in Spanish), pull the pages out and scan them flat. So I did. And I think they look great. (Black lines added to hide spoilers.)

My original intention was to upload these to CodeLyoko.fr, but I haven't been able to do that yet, so for now they'll just be available on Google Drive. This translation wouldn't have been possible if not for the other people on the fanslation team - not just my fellow translators, but also all the people who worked on scanning, formatting and editing. Special thanks also to Rhys Davies for kicking off the English translation. You can read more about the Chronicles and the fanslation project here on the website. (Yes I still need to revise the translation of those pages too. Someday.)
So yeah, it's taken a while, but I'm glad I can finally put out a better version of these books for people to discover. Enjoy!
Version 2.0 PDFs here! (Google Drive) ePub versions coming soon.

ANOTHER YEAR ANOTHER CODEJULY CALENDAR!!!!!
Hey everyone who’s ready for codejuly!!!! The reason I made this was to make the tag more active again after getting inspired with the Danny Phantom’s phanniemay calendar~ (sorry for the lateness as usual i’m a certified mess™️✨)
The official tag is “#codejuly” also “#codejuly25” (no spaces or punctuation). Please use it so that people can block it if they don’t want to see it. If you are just talking about Code July, please do not tag your post with these tags
FAQ
I don’t have time to do this in July?/Can I post it on another day?
Even though the calendar is for July, you don’t have to do them all in July. You can do them on whatever day seem best for you.
I don’t get the theme for some of these days?
You can go ask me on my ask box if you are confused on a specific day. (btw each word is just an idea, so as long as you come up with something it doesn’t matter how far you stray from the literal meaning of the word)
Is this a drawing thing only?
No, you can do anything including fanfic, AMV, cosplay, 8tracks, and etc… the choice is yours
Do I have to do all the themes?
Nope, it’s your choice on what you want to do. If you don’t feel inspired by some you can skip them. (and if you get an idea later you can submit it late)
(But there is a special prize where I will give everyone who completes all the prompts a lil doodle of a character of their choice~ just make sure to let me know if you complete them all)
ONLY ENTRIES MAY BE POSTED IN THE “codejuly & codejuly25” TAGS! NO TEXT POSTS (except for Fanfiction)!
I hope everyone has fun with this ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ

THAT’S THE THING.,,, ImVE DONE IT TWICE USING LIKE. A TEASPOON AND STEEPIJG FOR LIKE 7 MINUTES
BUT IT BARLEY TASTES LIKE ANYTHINF. IDK WHAT TO DO SAVE ME TRASH QUEEN
Dang dude, I'm feeling a bit like Customer Service for tea.
So it's hard to say without knowing exactly what's going on over there. There are several possibilities. Here are a few.
You haven't been using hot enough water. Different types of teas have different recommended temperatures for steeping. You can probably look up the specifics if you need. Black Teas need hotter water than Green or White teas. Green and White teas are more delicate.
You got a very delicate type of tea and you aren't used to it.
Your tea leaves are really old. Teas lose their flavor after a while if you just throw them in a drawer and forget they exist. Keeping them in a sealed container helps them last longer but even then they'll eventually lose their flavor given enough time. It's the same with most spices and stuff.
You're too used to coffee, soda, and/or southern sweet teas, which are all much Louder in terms of flavor.
You either have covid or recently had covid and your sense of taste and smell is messed up
You have some other medical condition that dulled your sense of smell, and since a LOT of how tea tastes is actually from the scent, it can leave the tea tasting bland if you can't smell it
You're doing something wrong in some weird and unique way that I couldn't possibly guess without being there to see you make your tea
Hope that helps?
-TQ

This isn’t saying you shouldn’t write bad or sad stories or anything, but from Gaster’s perspective as a character in those stories of course he’d want “happy” endings, haha.
But anyway, I kept telling you guys that when Handplates was over I would tell you. Well… here we are. After seven long years, here we are.
When I started I never thought I’d make it. To be honest, it doesn’t feel real to me at all. My brain still expects to do another page in about two weeks as it always does. I assume it’ll take a while to sink in. There’s a lot to say but this post is already incredibly long (sorry), so it’s probably suited to its own post.
But for all of you out there who read this story, whether you were there from the beginning or just came in now, thank you so much. And for all of you that were inspired by this comic, who created things for it, who blessed me with so many amazing gifts of art and fic and music and dubs and videos and so much more… I don’t know how to thank you enough. I never dreamed that an idle idea could have come this far or had such an impact on my life and so many people, but it did.
I kind of feel at a loss for words… again it’s very surreal. But I will say that Gaster wondering whether the kid is an actual human or not has an unintended level to it since my avatar is a fox but it’s TOO LATE NOW I GUESS lol.
( About how it’s a long, long, long journey that we’ve been on And it’s a long long long story that shall be told And it’s a long long day, and we’ve come a long long way But there’s still a long way to go
It’s a long long long way It’s a long long strong way It’s a long long long way Forward - [x] )

GET HIM PAPYRUS
Okay THIS is by far the longest one by a WIDE margin, god help me if any of the upcoming ones are this long but I just couldn’t find a good place to break it. You can see it in one piece at Comicfury.
Gaster wasn’t actually going to hurt or attack them, he just wanted to scare them off. The last time he saw them, they were still severely traumatized from his blue magic “lesson“, so he assumes that Papyrus is still completely terrified of it. And to an extent he is! BUT! Asgore worked with him to overcome that fear while they were staying with him! They aren’t the same bbs you used to know anymore, Gaster.
Gaster’s blaster looking a bit worse for wear nowadays.

When life has no meaning, make meaning-ade! Wait
In the game Sans said that Papyrus tried to solve the horoscope yesterday, and we’re not quite there just yet. I’m going with that not being the only time Papyrus tried to do that. Got to fuzz the timeline a little bit here… it bugs me when I can’t make things line up perfectly but sometimes something has to give a little.
