I created a small image of you:
frail, equally untouchable.
I looked often,
in school, lightheaded and dizzy,
at your small wrists. Listened
to your big words.
Those garden snakes churning inside your head made me afraid of where you might go. Maybe slither into a damp, black root cellar and never emerge.
Your stomach felt soft, weak.
I hated it, but looked
at you obsessively in every window we passed. The image made me furious.
An alien-girl, cold and hunched. Ugly.
I did not feed you for hours, sometimes days. I wanted you to shrink under my will and become exactly how I had always imagined:
a bird - boned waif in a cloud of grey smoke
ethereal, but wise, and never tired.

Camouflaged Looper (Synchlora aerata)
By using silk, the Wavy-lined Emerald Moth caterpillar adorns its body with plant fragments, usually flower petals, to camouflage itself as it feeds. When the petals begin to wilt and discolor, they will discard their outdated camouflage and replace with a new ‘coat’. They feed on a wide variety of plants, including the flower heads of composite flowers and other flowering plants, as well as shrubs and trees.

Just your daily reminders:
Racists are a problem
White people are not
Homophobes are a problem
Straight people are not
Transphobes are a problem
Cis people are not
Sexists are a problem
Men are not
And most importantly,
Hating an innocent person solely because of their race, sexuality, or gender makes you a fucking asshole
