I'm kind of obsessed with the way sheep are handled. So efficiently. It always looks kind of unpleasant at first and then you notice the sheep are fine with it. They're always being flipped upside down and rolled down a chute or some shit. A shepherd will be tossing that thang in the air and spinning it like pizza dough & the sheep just lets it happen

So you know this episode of Gravity Falls?
I am only just now, JUST NOW, realising that taking photos in this was was very silly. Dipper has access to modern cameras but he chose an old timey method that required him to set up a developing room in the shack. He had to buy all the equipment and chemicals and stuff. This must have been so much more expensive. And it's obvious to me NOW that that's the joke, but only just now. This came out YEARS ago and I've just never questioned it. "Oh of course Dipper would now need to develop the photos," my mind said, "that's the next logical step in this plan." I think I might be stupid.

checked the bin cupboard on the way back from the shops and... they've emptied one (1) recycling bin??? which is somehow weirder than doing nothing like what was the fucking POINT
anyway now it's full again because my stockpiled cardboard took up like 80% of the whole bin even in flattened state so now nobody else can get rid of (much) recycling for the next 16 days great solution though gang i'm sure this is sustainable and won't backfire immediately
housing association just admitted. in writing. that the bin store is inadequate.
(we have 4 small regular bins and 2 small recycling bins for 9 homes which aren't collected frequently enough, so naturally stuff piles up in there. this is like. not a shock to anyone who can think approximately 5 seconds into the future)
anyway they then went on to say they "expect to see improvements" and if we don't stop. uh. putting rubbish in the rubbish room. they will fine us for cleaning it or take tenancy action.
like. sorry my good bitch that is not how any of this works.
#no literally the other recycling bin is still full and everything else is still there???#so presumably i didn't even NEED to take my cardboard out and back up here since none of the rest of it was an issue to them emptying#again. for some reason.#one (1) bin#( :

Dear, sweet, Littlefoot, do you remember the way to the Great Valley? I guess so. But why do I have to know if you’re going to be with me? I’ll be with you. Even if you can’t see me. What do you mean I can’t see you? I can always see you.

this has been a problem for the entire 3.5 years i've lived here btw
photo under the cut from 2022 when it hadn't been emptied for like... 3? 4? months and we could barely open the door.

#which of course started because there were a couple extra bags and so they didn't empty any bins at all#it's not like they empty the bins and just leave the excess#although even that would EVENTUALLY result in trash mountain#no no. they simply don't take any rubbish at all#but because we AREN'T keeping it all piling up inside our homes#when it IS cleaned out fully#it does at least stay reasonable for a little bit#not very long mind#if they clean it out right before it 'should' have been collected we might get one or maybe even two full collection cycles before#this starts happening again

they do say "if we can identify those resposible" so i feel like if you removed any address labels from everything they would just be ConfusedJohnTravolta and have to pay to clean it out anyway without being able to charge anyone
or they would just charge everyone. i mean realistically everyone is contributing to that it's not like it's just one flat out of nine
i'm not taking my name off of anything though. i've gone one better and filed a formal complaint and made clear i'm going to keep putting rubbish in there because there's nowhere else to put it you absolute weapons and inviting them to take tenancy action because i would really like to see them fucking try
#PLEASE take me to a tribunal for 'violating my tenancy' for putting cardboard in the cardboard room#please#it would be literally so funny#'but we asked this woman with a walking stick to walk 3 miles carrying it to a recycling centre and she didn't'#diddums! do you think the SPSO will consider that a reasonable accommodation thenue?#don't strain yourself too hard thinking about it!

councils will really try and force you to recycle (in my area they even fine you if you don't), then refuse to take an unsoiled cardboard box because it's directly NEXT TO the bin and wonder why people give up trying to recycle
i think they probably try and fine people here too but because i share my bins with 8 other properties they wouldn't actually know who to fine so we loopholed our way out of that one
but like seriously though. our bin store is *inside the building*. the recycling isn't going to get soggy from the rain or anything it's literally inside
#like it wouldn't kill you to throw it on the truck insead of refusing to empty ANY OF THE BINS AT ALL#and then being confused that there's more rubbish there later#like. are you dense. what did you think would happen

not even a little bit kidding about the absolute audacity of these bitches btw

they very sneakily do not directly say they expect us to keep non-recyclable rubbish in our homes. they do explicitly state we should keep all recyclables building up until we happen to win "recycling bin day battle royale"
just that there aren't enough green (regular waste) bins, stuff should only be taken when there's space, and that it should be kept "within your property until it is ready to be taken to the bin store"
(which would be when there is space. and there isn't space. because we need more bins. you don't have to join those dots... they're so close together that they overlap)
housing association just admitted. in writing. that the bin store is inadequate.
(we have 4 small regular bins and 2 small recycling bins for 9 homes which aren't collected frequently enough, so naturally stuff piles up in there. this is like. not a shock to anyone who can think approximately 5 seconds into the future)

#they phoned me last week and asked me to take my recycling out of there because it was outside the bin#now for reference this was a bunch of cardboard broken down and stored neatly inside of another#(not sealed just folded together) bigger cardboard box#and stored in the corner. not on top of the bins#so that 'the council will uplift it'#anyway i brought it all back up here and would it shock you to learn the council didn't empty it#because me taking that out didn't magically make the whole thing meet their standards for uplift#anyway i'm taking it all back down there and they can go fuck themselves#my kitchen is like 2 metres wide INCLUDING the counters i'm not fucking keeping it all in here

"keep it inside your homes instead until there is space"
ah yes. so it can pile up inside all of our individual kitchens instead whilst we do a mad competitive dash every 8 days to get rid of as much as can fit in the tiny bins, then take all the rest back up the stairs.
perfectly reasonable. i mean, as we all know, rubbish only attracts vermin when it's kept in a Designated Rubbish Room! and it's not like this policy will eventually result in us all being unable to move in our own homes. no sir. i'm sure that would work out completely fine as a solution.
"if you don't want to pile it up inside, take any excess to a separate facility"
none of us. and i mean none of us have a car or even know how to drive. at least 1/3 of us are disabled in some way. so like... how do you see that happening, worstie

#the nearest recycling centre is a damn near hour long walk#you wouldn't get a taxi to take you when you're loaded down with bags of rubbish even if it is recycling#and how much do you really think you can carry at one time on the two buses it would take#or by hand if you walked#it also is not free and you need to *make an appointment* to take stuff there#like. lmao. fucking no#providing the service is part of your responsibility#you CANNOT seriously be asking a woman with a walking stick to make an appointment#walk almost 3 miles carrying one bag at a time#and then pay to dispose of it somewhere else#be so fucking for real right now

#'we'll take tenancy action against you for violating the tenancy agreement after we violated it first by failing to provide a service'#yeah uh. good luck with that i guess? anyway#love that you're JUST NOW realising this is a problem after we've been complaining about it for 3 years and I've involved#the LITERAL LOCAL MEMBER OF SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT four times#i've met some slow people in my time but wow broski#wow
