Things I was told about sex as a child by different family members, teachers, religious figures, and fellow classmates, in absolutely no order

When people have sex the correct way (married, procreative, straight, not kinky, the man initiates and the woman likes it an correct amount) sex is wonderful and when people have sex the wrong way (gay, kinky, unmarried, the woman likes it too much) it's perverse and ugly.

You'll get diseases and die or have warts forever.

People have sex all the time and don't care at all about whether they'll get diseases.

You should visit a clinic and get tested for diseases between partners and share your results.

People will lie to you to trick you into making unsafe choices or demand you have sex to "prove" you love or trust them.

You have to have respect for your partner and care about what they want and talk to them ideally before beginning to have sex.

Talking ruins the mood, planning ruins the mood, condoms ruin the mood, saying no to something but not to everything ruins the mood, telling your partner what you want ruins the mood- it's gotta be spontaneous and natural like in the movies where the characters never talk about what they're doing.

My point in making this list is that when you're raising a child, all of these things and way, way more are being said to them.

Whatever you want them to believe needs to be more trustworthy in the child's view than whatever Billy in their class told them.

They also need to be comfortable asking questions and you need to provide more information than just "don't do it" or they'll be a grown adult and believing myths, not knowing how their own body works, not knowing what a healthy sexual relationship looks like, etc.
