a warrior, was it? the hedgehog looked him over, eyes narrowing briefly before shrugging. it was difficult to tell just by looking sometimes, it seemed.. he definitely didn't seem to have the physique for it, though how could he tell with all that leather on? either way, it didn't matter to him. he'd dealt with far worse.

"Sorry. You'll have to find a better excuse than that. Or don't, I guess. It doesn't matter either way." another shake of his head and he turned his attention away from the old man, finally considering his latest location. "So where am I anyway? I don't recognize this place.."

He was patient - awaiting the other's reply. His relaxed held a falsified sense of calmness, but the other didn't need to know that.

He hmph'ed, embers staring at the hedgehog, before dismissing his weapon. If need be, he'd use darkness in an attack, nice and unsuspecting. "It quite isn't - though one could argue there isn't much defense against such creatures here." Neutral - even if there had been a small indication of him knowing much more than he was letting on about the situation.

Slowly, allowing his hands fold behind his back once more.

"You would have to forgive me. I am on-edge these days, due to being a warrior for many years." Half truth - and no, he didn't care if the other forgave him, or not.

the hedgehog rolled his eyes, his attention focusing instead on their surroundings as he took it in properly. there was a charm to it, even he had to admit, but now hardly seemed the time to sight-see - especially if this man insisted on taunting him.

"Hmph. I'd say sorry to disappoint, but I'm not. Just here by chance, actually, as far as I can tell. Seems like this place isn't as hopeless as they usually are when it comes to handling dark creatures, so I don't think I need to do anything. Not my problem. You, however, seem way too interested in picking fights with strangers - what's your deal?"

A bout of laughter left the elder, as he stared down at Shadow with a grin. The stubborn practically rolled off of the other - and their combined stubbornness could have taken down an entire army of Heartless at this rate, if more wanted to appear. Though, the amusement slowly drained away, and disappointment shined within the ember hues. "Saddening. Which, I hardly expect you to be able to be fully prepared to take on a keyblade master such as myself .."

He finally lowered it, though kept it by his side. Burning coals narrowed. "So, you haven't? What purpose would you have otherwise? Perhaps - gaining knowledge of another world?" He gestured elsewhere with his other hand. "Are you meeting a friend?" The word was almost said with disgust, or complete distrust.

sharp red eyes looked unimpressed as they glanced over the length of that long weapon, and thin arms folded over the large tuft of white fur that adorned his chest with a snort, posture shifting to lean on one leg, the other tapping at the ground beneath them.

"So are you." no, he didn't seem about ready to elaborate any time soon, only making a fair show of how non-threatening he deemed this man and his strange, oversized key. he'd seen far more dangerous-looking weapons capable of so much more destruction - and destroyed them himself. whatever this was would be no different. "If you're threatening me, I won't go easy on you. I had not come to this world for a fight; are you marking yourself as my enemy?"

Previously, he had seen the creature out of the corner of his eye during the fight, but he hadn't bothered to engage. Pay attention. A low threat, if anything. The pointy-eared male kept his weapon at his side, fingers flexing lightly against the metal hilt. Was this some variation of enemy, or - Xehanort didn't allow one inch of his invisible magickal shields down. Though, this small creature seemed ultimately .. harmless.

The elder cracked a brow at the remark, and he pointed the weapon towards Shadow. "Care to repeat that?" He threatened. "Afterall, you are on the other end of an unknown weapon ...'' He smirked.

"So I suppose those words more accurately apply to you, moreso than I." Though, he didn't move. No, this being was hardly worth it to see its blood strewn across the pavement. But he wouldn't back down ...

another ring, another.. someplace new. seemed he may have even grown fond of finding new places to wander, even if many tended to bring about tedious tasks or enemies to destroy. and this world, it seemed, was hardly any different, save for one thing: the people weren't so helpless against the enemies.

he hadn't taken more than two steps out of his shining ring portal before it closed behind him, and swirling shapes in the darkness were seen gathering into forms with limbs and golden, glowing eyes.. and soon after, another being with equally golden eyes took to being their adversary. he didn't even have to raise a finger - instead watching as these creatures were defeated with what looked like some elaborate key of sorts, smacked into oblivion by an elderly man who only acknowledged his existence once these little beasts were gone.

"A mistake on your part." he let out a hmph of.. disappointment, perhaps? "Beasts made of shadows aren't uncommon. Though it is uncommon to see them defeated so handily by the inhabitants of the worlds they swarm. But I guess brawn makes up for a lack of brain, doesn't it? All too common, unfortunately..."
