the minimum is 350 words. the biography can technically be as long as you want, but keeping it under 1k words would be ideal.

would it be possible for students to bribe their way into hanyang university?

kinda. the admissions board would be “interested” in “aiding” students who come from well esteemed and respectable families, should they not make the cut. but a relatively unknown family who just happens to be wealthy would probably have a hard time finding a faculty member who would be willing to risk their reputation in favor of bribes.

hi! i'm looking through your navigation and the tabs (but i'm also having issues with some tabs not showing up so maybe this is already answered and i just couldn't see it) but can you give us (or direct me to) more info on the wizarding world in korea? for instance, is there a wizarding secondary school? anyways thanks!

oh i’m sorry about that. i’ll take a look and try to fix that. 

but you’re actually right in that we haven’t provided much information on the korean wizarding world (will be changing that asap). 

the educational system is built around getting young wizards and witches into prestigious universities, much like real life south korea. it consists of five levels:

kindergarten: typical age 3-6. (attendance is not compulsory, but a lot of parents will fight tooth and nail to get their kids enrolled in a kindergarten, because it adds to their resume which is a vital part when it comes to wowing any university admissions board.) 

primary school: typical age 6-12.

middle school: typical age 12-15.

high school: typical age 15-18.

freshly graduated wizards and witches are then able to choose between going to university or applying for an apprenticeship. 

“hagwons” or private cram schools are really popular and to some parents even crucial.

education is free and for everyone. schools provide students with textbooks, materials and resources, should students not have access to those. but universities require tuition payments. students with exceptional portfolios and resumes are granted scholarships, but those are limited and some will be forced to try again the next year if they aren’t able to finance their degree out of pocket. 

important to note is that not all jobs in the wizarding community require a degree. for example, apprenticeships are quite popular for ignoring theory and focusing on praxis. broom and wand makers, customer service attendants, broadcasters, entertainers, musicians etc etc are all occupations that don’t require a degree.

apprenticeships are not as prestigious as degrees, and the starting salary is not as high, but if a wizard or witch is unable to attend university due to poor grades or personal problems, an apprenticeship is the way to go. 

hanyang university is the only university in seoul. there are other universities, but they prefer their locations to be more on the outskirts of muggle cities as to avoid being discovered.

the korean wizarding community is adverse to technology, but their aversion is mostly rooted in pride. telephones, blow dryers, ventilators etc are all devices that are useless to a wizard or witch who has been properly magically educated. some wizards are big fans of computers though, and their use is often taught in high schools.

the one thing that the wizarding community has “borrowed” from muggles is their studies regarding mental health. it is very difficult to magically “cure” someone from depression or psychosis. that’s why psychology is taught and researched. 

healers, mediwizards, therapists etc do not go to grad school in the wizarding world, and are considered licensed professionals after completing their major. they still have to go through residency, but a phd, psyd, edd etc are not a thing. 

the korean ministry of magic also has more departments than the british one:

department of wizarding culture, magical sports and tourism

department of international magical cooperation (foreign affairs)

department of national defense

department of the regulation and control of magical creatures

department of magical transportation

department of mysteries

department of magical education

department of environment

department of agriculture, food and rural affairs

the ministry itself is located in seoul and is 22 stories high. the department of mysteries, however, is located in guri, as it carries out confidential research.

hello and welcome to the soft opening of sonorus, closed fantasy roleplay, set in the harry potter universe. we are canon divergent, meaning that our worldbuilding diverges from canon (i.e. universities aren’t a thing in canon, and similarly, the east asian wizarding community’s education is stated to be focused in japan). we are also inspired by the drama Sky Castle. the roleplay is primarily focused on the absurdities of campus life. we wish to encourage creativity and character development.

we have decided to officially open with the acceptance of ten applications! we currently have twelve available canons and even more subplots so that there’s something of interest for (hopefully) everyone.
