A large muscle man in a tank top says to Kris Letang (friend of Sid), how did you know your friend (Sid) could complete this physical challenge? Kris thinks to himself, Sid is good at everything, therefore I knew he would be good at this. But, and this is crucial, what comes out of his mouth is “he’s the perfect boyfriend.” Chaos, naturally, ensues. And academics will be studying this series of events for years to come

The Dreaded Introductory Post

Hi there. I guess since I’ve started actually speaking to a few of you whose posts I’ve been reblogging, I guess I should introduce myself.

Or, sort of introduce myself.

I’ve been kickin’ around Tumblr for the last odd decade or so and purely by happenstance I have never once revealed my name on here on any blog. In the interest of that being a funny stat to have, I’m not about to start. If we make it to Discord-level I’ll tell you my name then.

In the meantime, you can call me Offsides or really any variation of my username. I’d also accept 45 as that was my—not hockey, but sports—number back in the day when I was an athlete.

I’m 25 years old, have no preference whatsoever on my pronouns, and I live in the Pittsburgh Penguins ESPN Blackout Zone. Home team, baby.

I also root for the Columbus Blue Jackets (unless they play the Pens) mostly out of duty to my Ohioan partner, who agreed to watch hockey with me, then promptly began rooting for a different team in the same division. Y’know. Like a maniac.

Against my better judgement, I have grown to love the Florida Panthers. They’ve endeared me with their rat culture.

As a standard, I root for every goalie. I wish those funky little freaks all the shutouts in the world.

I always have a preference for defensemen over forwards. I was a defensive player when I did sports, and the beating we take on the back end is always overshadowed by the guys that actually put points on the board. Nothing but love and respect for the blueliners on this blog.

Recently I’ve started collecting hockey cards, but I don’t know much about them. If anyone would like to educate me, I’m all ears.

I’m happy to chat with anyone about anything Penguins! Don’t worry about something coming off as weird or annoying—I was on Tumblr when you couldn’t go three posts without a Supernatural gif reblog. I have seen. Everything.
